I scan the 16 channels whilst driving about Norfolk and Sufflok and hear allsorts of users during the day but come the night I hear freebanders using it (mainly channel 8). Could this be the new CB band as 27mhz is increasingly unusable due to PLT, Plasma, Russians..?? Maybe we will see a 446 mobile radio soon. If you ever get bored of scanning ham/air stuff..listen to these channels..folks using them think they are secure like mobile phones and discuss allsorts of interesting stuff:-)
@pmr446repeater I was a PMR446 User before I was an Ham operator, that gives me more than a good reason to operate on 446 whenever I please. Your best bet is to get a woman to releive your anxieties and the PMR frequencies to the proper people. Remember you dont own 446 its FREEBAND!

@coyoteuk Its not free band, it is restricted to 500mw and a fixed antenna.. god knows how many laws you have broken... lol
Keep up the good work, i am using a homemade 1/2 wave centre fed dipole in the loft and getting 10 miles on 2 watts in some directions.
Shortwave/hf bands are full of crap, high noise levels, plt interference
