• I can't believe the fuck only got 36 years... Raping and murdering a woman should be automatic firing range execution. There should also be some torture involved before hand if the victim could rock.

  • @msigler78 yeah you think

  • she was an amazing singer, and they were truly a band of brothers... and sister... the documentary showed the amazing love and respect these guys have for each other... they are still haunted by her murder... to hear them discuss it, is like it happened yesterday..

  • i like her voice very much :)

  • So strange that she was of Mexican heritage and so was her killer. In Seattle, of all places...so sad.

  • @chinafakeeggs her killer was a dirty cuban

  • i was watchin the investigators cold case files type deal n heard some of their music on the show. its a weird way to discover a band but they were pretty badass n im not even gonna lie i can b marginally sexist when it comes to singers in bands but this girls voice is pretty raw. too bad that sick fuck killed mia n her sound.

  • VIVA ZAPATA!!!!

  • R.I.P. MIA !

  • one of the best punk bands and singer, the gits had the shit to pass all the seatle bands in my opinion

  • fucking amazing vocals. so much energy. shows women can sing as good as men.

  • @newrealization12 "Shows women can sing as good as men"? No fucking duh. As if that needed to be proven.

  • @djshiva Its not that it needs to be proven to me. I'm a proud woman. But its a fact that we live in a society the represses women. And there have been far more male rock singers than female. It is an obstacle. Don't take my comment the wrong way.

  • @newrealization12 Gotcha! No worries... :) I read so many douchebag comments from dudes that it's easy to assume that it's yet another one. ;)

  • @djshiva Pshhh its cool I too have chewed people out on here by mistake. Nice taste in music! :)

  • rest in peace Mia. :(

  • RIP Maria. Goddamn how we miss you.

  • Listening to The Gits, knowing what happened to Mia, makes me feel so sad and angry... I hope her murderer (and every rapist) spends the rest of his life rotting in jail, suffering and wanting to die every single day.

  • is that Selene Vigil or Mia Zapata because thier voices sound the same and i havent seen very maby live 7 year bitch and gits shows or interviews

  • RIP Mia

  • So strange that she was a descendant of Zapata the liberator of Mexico and murdered by a Cuban psychopath released to this country as a refugee by Castro. He is an insane beast too, I mean. Demonic. Really don't know why things like that are allowed to live after they do what they do.

  • @PsilliPig -I heard the faggot also murdered some other woman

  • @Bakersfieldsucks777 How about not insulting gay people when you are actually talking about a rapist? *eyeroll*

  • I discovered this group on a TV show called forensic files. What a pity they couldn´t have become bigger.

  • The Gits Nits fan page on FB under groups....

  • R I P... raw talent!

  • Just saw the documentary film on Mia and The Gits on Netflix. Totally amazing. Very tragic and sad. At least they caught the fucker who did this.

  • Same here. A lot of friends had told me how great they were but I had no idea.

  • mia, thank u , thank u

  • This is one of my favorite songs of ALL time.

  • I LOVE MIA AND THE GITS!!!!!! (R.I.P.)

  • her voice is just exquisite <3

  • is there any way to get the gits album or should i go on my space like i did with the dali gaggers

  • iTunes carries it

  • Ebay is always a good place to start. For a discography look no further than Discogs.

  • I had my local record store order me "the best of the Gits" and there were two others that are available.

  • Awesome. More great Seattle music, that was their time.

  • Fucking beautiful beyond words. Love you mia.

  • ooo me too...i saw the doc ...tromeri istoria

  • Hi I saw a documantery on t.v. for Mia ... im from Greece and i didn t knew the story . I m listening grunge and i think the gits had the potential to be a big band ...

  • Just visited Mia's grave in Louisville yesterday.

  • I live just across the river, I should do the same soon...

  • i was looking for another band and miss spelt the name and these came on what luck there amazing great fucken voice its shit what happened to her someone fills is in what a waist

  • Welcome to the fold, brother!

  • check out a band called the cliks the vocals is kind of the same

  • i love this band and mia was absolutely amazing .

it saddens me that this woman (or any for that matter) had to have this happen to her.

im researching her right now for an art project, and her death was actually kinda creepy when you think about it... other than the obvious that something so horrible happened to her... her body was found in a crucifixion position, and her murderers name was jesus.... its a creepy coincidence

  • Beautiful voice D.E.P. Mia

  • R.I.P Saint Mia

  • Anyone ever seen everything at once?

    It all comes together.

  • this song has me in tears.

    so beautiful.

  • Man I am craving some lyrics....anyone post some??? DAYUM what could have been.

  • God Bless you, Mia.

  • RIP Mia Zapata

  • i miss her...r.i.p mia

  • 1st song i hear of them: awesome!!!

too bad i didn't know them long before.

i hope they kill mia's killer at prison!

  • wow!

  • The murderer of Mia Zapata NEVER ADMITTED TO KILLING HER!!! I was there in the courtroom. He said he NEVER MET HER!!! His DNA from saliva was found on her body, and this small amount, but was scientifically sound, to convict this coward. Please keep the facts straight. If, as he said, never met her, why was his saliva ridden bite mark on her breast?

  • Yeah, I saw the whole story on Tru TV. My heart really went out to her and her family and what was even sadder was that the entity that murdered her only got 36 years in jail. I think he should have gotten life because of brutality of Mia's murder. Not only was she insanely talented, but she was so pretty. May she rest in piece.....

  • i think he should have gotten death fuckin row!!!

  • i hope he gets skinned alive in prison.

  • and then raped

  • @JunkFunkers Im the cook and I piss in his oatmeal every morning...he has oatmeal alot..

  • @lvpeckerwood are u really the cook? thats f'in awesome if you are lool

  • @p95humbucker if i was ....he definitely deserves to suffer, dahmer style would be alright with me

  • he was 54 when convicted, he'll be dead before he ever see's day light again anyways

  • I'm a new fan (a couple of months ago). She was great. I wish I could see them at a live concert, but never...

  • Jesus Mezquia was convicted of her murder March 25, 2004. He was sentenced to 36 years in prison.

  • Her story was on America's Most Wanted. Her murder has been captured. Before being released, they did a mandatory DNA test through the national database, and got a hit on Mia's case. he admitted to killing Zapata and will be brought up on murder charges.

  • really? Who's the killer? What was the Motive? and do you have any ketchup?

  • me & my X loved the gits

    who killed her?

hope the one who did its been already fuct up!

  • Smec,

    Didn't mean to disrepect you!

Definately, they had punk rock in there, as you said. What a great band they were.

  • the grunge years!

  • i dont get why mias talking so fast in the beginning though.

  • i would toture the living hell out of Mia's killer.

she was more than amazing... RIP

  • The Gits are awesome, I love them. it's like feeling good music with power!

  • It's not important what genre they were. Not everything can be put into neat categories.I labeled the Gits as punk simply cause that's how they are most often defined. And they definitely had some songs that were clear-cut punk(Here's to Your Fuck, for example).

  • @smecajedna There are some bands that need no genre, They are just a good band. The Gits is a great example of that. If I was to call them anything, Punk would be the word. There is an anime out there called Nana that is amazing. One of the main characters reminds me very much of Mia. They sound similar in style both the band and Nana's singing. I highly recommend that if you are a fan of the Gits to check out Nana if you are in any way into animation.

  • @ElHypno2007 Yes, The Gits were punk. Mia was such an intense force. I saw the documentary, "The Gits", and it will inspire while breaking your heart...

  • They weren't punk...but the Gits were great. They were their own thing. RIP, Mia. What a great voice. I'm so glad they caught the guy who killed her...but the only true justice would be if she was still here.

  • Awesome song, the energy is beyond alot

  • what does Mia say at the beginning?? After great friend of mine who died one year ago today

  • She was talking about Stefanie Sargent, guitarist for 7 Year Bitch, who died of a drug overdose. 7 Year Bitch dedicated their 2nd album "Viva Zapata" in memory of both Stefanie Sargent and Mia Zapata.

  • it s not purely punk..it s just the gits..it s mia.thats why they greath..they made real good stuff.you just have to open your mind

  • The Gits from Seattle are the REAL GITS. Don't be fooled by the poser "punk" skinhead band from Poland who is using the same name. Mia Zapata was/is the one and only. True Gits' fans ban together!!!

  • she could have really been great. she is great but she could have made it big! her voice is amazing

  • I agree with ya about Mia. The Gits were a solid commercial sounding band with lotsa edge. Power punk.

  • She could have been one of the greats.

  • Even though she was raped and murdered early in her career, I still consider Mia one of the 'greats'.

  • Mia Zapata true the the music, nothing fake about them. I loved the Gits

  • OMG... it sucks. Sucks hard... and why anybody calls it punk? :|

  • okay, you can have your opinions, but at least have some fucking respect for the DEAD!!

  • I bet you listen to Nofx.

    Joke.

  • mia fucking ROCKED. she was from my hometown, and buried in the same cemetary as some cemetary as some of my family. i've never been to her grave, but one day I will. R.I.P.... ♥

  • R.I.P Mia Zapata i wish more more people today thought about music as you did.

  • her death makes me so sad. she had such a powerful voice and message, RIP MIA.

  • I agree and she was a pretty lady.

  • i cant believe there vids of them.thanxs whoever posted this.love u always Mia...once i heard her deaths story on unsloved mysteries years ago,i wus angry..then i looked up on thier music...i wus inspired..i agree with u (u gave me crabs)lol u wierdo!

  • This is sad because it's 10 days before she died. And she dedicates it to someone who died. SO sad. I love Mia SO much!!!

  • reincarnation of Janis Joplin? maybe.

  • Oh God, it's that last 'Seaweed' that gets me (the one at like 1:40). I love her voice, it's amazing.

Only the good die young :(

  • I LOVE this Band!!!!

  • fuckin illegal immigrant fucker. i went to antioch with mia and she was beautiful and talented always.. she was a joker and always ready to party. miss you baby. i'm drinking for ya right now baby girl

  • We need more Mia Zapatas and less Brittneys and Beyonces. A LOT less.

  • Watching this woman and these men play together is something different, something so much more than . . . than the obvious. Figure it out yourself. R.I.P. and still a fucking inspiration.

  • RIP Mia at least they finally cought the bastard.
