It's not important what genre they were.Not everything can be put into neat categories.I labeled the Gits as punk simply cause that's how they are most often defined.And they definitely had some songs that were clear-cut punk(Here's to Your Fuck,for example).

@smecajedna There are some bands that need no genre, They are just a good band. The Gits is a great example of that. If I was to call them anything, Punk would be the word. There is an anime out there called Nana that is amazing. One of the main characters reminds me very much of Mia. They sound similar in style both the band and Nana's singing. I highly recommend that if you are a fan of the Gits to check out Nana if you are in any way into animation.
