  • It would have been nice to let us actually see the freaking kata without the unnecessary drama. A normal decently lit background would have been sufficient. If it's such astounding work of art, let it speak for itself.

  • @Koryuhoka this is the reason you arent a film director.

  • @surlupo - your response is the reason I'm gonna call you an asshole.

  • shotokan doesnt even have this kata but it does remind me of gankkaku which means crane on a rock

  • there is another video of Hayashi shihan, performing hakaku in a slightly different way, probably the way as shown here contains a mistake. At 0:55 he has the right leg front for the second time in nekoashi dachi, in the other video it is the left leg.

  • Japanese cranes are so beautiful.

  • @ gojuryukarateka by the way my goju teacher is Curt Jones Senior and Mike Jones his son. He trained with Eiichi Miyazato, Morio Higaonna, Roy Hobbs and Patrick McCarthy. My Shorin teachers trained under Yuichi Kuda and Tadashi Yamashita. Who is your teacher and who did he study under?

  • Both mabuni brothers are not imposters. My teachers studied under the mabuni (mind you seperately) as well as Hayashi and Shogo Kuniba. Sorry the rivalry is the only thing to be ashamed of. As far as people quote making things better. You need to go back to Mabuni's original syllabus. He clearly did allow adaptations depending on the physical makeup of the practioner. Short, tall, level of strength etc. Personally Kenwa Mabuni was a genius.

  • very nice.

  • Had the priveldge of training with Hiyashi Soke as few years ago - thanks to Nikki Pillay Sensei (Hiyashi-Ha South African Chief Instructor). Excellent teacher......

  • wow cool....I love Hayashi karate....I once practised with him in da states......

  • Rumano de mierda hijo de putaaa , tu pais es mierda y os matareemoos a navajaazoos

  • May his soul rest in peace forever

  • i know it as haffa and i loooooooooove it even though its pretty short

  • Beautiful kata, i have seen few do a crain kata that even compaires, the only one i think i've seen better is Soken Sensei's Hakutsuru

  • @karatecloutier77 I studied under Sensei Rankin and he studied under Kuda who was under Hohan Soken. I agree his Hakutsuru is magnificent.

  • un fortunatly soke trou hayashi passed away in september 2004 i follow his stlye of karate!

  • I cannot think of a finer soke...

    Hayashi-Ha Shito Ryu

  • in his last years he was even finer, in fact his verssion of this kata changed a lot from what is seen in this video. Hayashi is the best shito ryu branch, there are no comparisson with the mabuni brothers

  • you are correct ... there is no comparison between hayashi-ha and either shitokai or seito shito-ryu. both the mabuni branches are inferior with seito shito-ryu verging on being a joke.

  • @gojuryukarateka I find it amazing that you perceive yourself a Martial Artist. You have no respect or honor. I feel sorry for your Sensei.

  • @Johnjohnsm - On the contrary I do honor and respect true budo, but I don't honor or respect impostors, and Seito Sihito-ryu are a bunch of impostors.

  • I agree with you

  • So he took their karate and made it better? I've studied about a year of both... What do you think makes Hayashi better? Just curious how he changed the style??

  • @Nosferatu303 - Hayashi-ha Shitoryu combinds and blends Ryuei-ryu whithin their style more so than Mabuni branches.

  • @piratillacibernetico I think that he did an excellent variation of the shito ryu but to divide the style as to better than the father would be a serious mistake and would do disservice. The politics of the group have really caused the entire art to suffer.

  • This looks like it has some Chinese "Hakka" system influence.

    Some Hakka systems are,Bak Mei,Hakka Crane,Chow Gar Mantis,Juk Lum Mantis,Southern Dragon.Just to name a few

  • @SQNBM within Shito as designated by the founder there were influences of Shaolin Lo Han, White Crane, Black Tiger, and Hsing I. The Hayashi component brought in some of the other family arts and a greater impact from the Kobudo principals practiced by the Okinawans and their native Te.

  • teruo hayashi un maestro del karate do y pienso q la palabra maestro que le queda muy chica para su gran persona. el dio un nuevo sentido a karate do

  • Martial artists like Norris, add shame to martial arts. Look at how he acts and behaves off screen...he cheated on his wife, that is not something that a martial artist should do. He is a practitioner of Korean arts and not Japanese. Two differant asides. All arts are equal, its the practitioner and his or her skill level that decides who is the winner.

  • Thanks for sharing, a sweet piece. You wouldn't happen to have Naifanchin sandan and ananko?

P.S. - The guy dissing karate, I can't believe you take him seriously, especially when calling Noris invincible, but in my opinion, karate of today is watered down in many dojo's, because it turned in a sport and not a martial art...but not in all.

  • Yes I've got these katas, but, performed by another karateka.

  • que lastima leer a esete tipo de sujetos que creen que el karate solo sirve para golpear a lo bruto. este tipo de personas no saben y no quieren saber mas allá de lo que es un zuki o un geri. el karate es mas que un puñete.

  • Dear Anus...sorry Anon

First: Chuck Norris uses Taekwondo. Second: Karate has two parts: Kata and Kumite. Kata is about saving the traditional moves. Kumite is about fighting. If you think Karate is shit come to our dojo and say it to my Sensei!

I hope you wouldn't come (for your sake).

    Bye-bye Sucker

  • Chuck Norris received his black belt in Tang Soo Do in Ul-san South Korea From his book: "My secret of innner strength" by Chuck Norris.

  • this is from that wonderful film 'Budo' the art of killing

  • To AnonFromChiangMai:

I hope you are not serious in your opinion... Hollywood makes shit everything that takes, but just their movies are crap.

Karate is a way of life, like many others disciplines, just a blind man can´t view this.

Greetings From México and to my Master Roberto Jacob.

  • I do not agree with what you say. The action films of chuck norris and all those mediocre players make a lot of harm to karate and martial arts. Hollywood gives us only garbage and is not interested in reporting the true ideology of karate. Hollywwod to chuck norris and only care about winning many dollars

  • excelente katá, me gusta mucho

  • excelente ver almaesro hayashi haciendo este kata tan bello. saludos para mi sensei juan andamayo y para elix y cris y el super saya y todos pess!

  • wuonderfull kata don by teruo hayashi.very rare hakucho kata video thank you very much.

  • This Kata is called Hafua too, in the Shito-ryu of Kenei Mabuni is called Hakucho and is very different; in the Shimpo Matayoshi style is different too, this master was pupil of Gokenki.

  • Thanks about the information. It's a very interesting way of karate.
