It's based on the book... the film comes out in Nov.

In the book Bella goes into depression for four months and her father threathens to send her to live with her mother. So to get herself back together she starts hanging out with a boy (and werewolf) Jacob Black. She and Jake see his friends "Cliff Diving". She hears Edward's voice in her head when she does stupid dangerous things, so she jumps of the cliff to hear his voice, not to kill herself.
