  • Iiiiiiiiiiiiiii whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuff toooooooooooo beeeeeeeeeee aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas theeeeeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy wheeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  • I never thought I'd get sick of Suggs and Baggy Trousers!

  • You're complaining about people complaining!

  • I Got a question!!!!!!! Chris what is a easy to use software to create games that are not too advanced but that could make a good to play game, For example (Minecraft- Graphics arent That hard to create,Encoding Isnt that bad) Please Anwser back :-)

  • man, i thought this was a weed smokin video ;P

  • can i Rent your wife lol

  • @VXMetalheadXV His screen saver is called Electric Sheep. He's mentioned it and made a video or 2 about it. Google it.

  • so wait are you trying to say renting it will lower piracy?

  • Amazing thumbnail.

  • pot leaf starts at 2;25

  • If they reduced the price of their CS suites, then less people would pirate it... If it was under £500 I would buy it! but I am not paying well over a grand for it!

  • I CAN'T PIRATE ANYMORE D': lol renting is cool redbox 8-)

  • I agree making software and updates cost money and time so when it's a subscription means as you get more you can add more developers and team members to make it even better.

  • 3:32 Wilson Tech 1 much :P

  • maushduh locker gnome the best nerd ;)))

  • On one hand, I would do it as I don't use their creative suite software all of the time. Therefore, I would be happy to rent software at times when I need it.

On the other hand, a short term problem is bothering me: Bandwidth! some people like me don't have enough bandwidth to download the software which is why we like buying the disk alongside the license. However, I am sure that the ISPs will get rid of this problem soon and provide everyone with restriction-free internet access.

  • Man that was so crazy of u but i know it was probably necessary for the faggots out there! :)

  • thats like with on live you can do the same thing with it

  • I love it when a rich, powerful (probably) Internet guy mocks other non-important internet dweebs.

  • You didn't say "I'll e you later" !! Are you not going to e me later Chris!!!

  • renting no way always got to have the discs.

but you can always download and then make a disc.

i like my license key codes

  • Before even watching the video I know that you doing that annoying voice of every YouTube comment.

  • You can still pirate the rentable software ;). Not that I would, but you can.

  • Hahaha a Wilsontech1 reference :)

I must say, the rental model does seem very effective. Most people won't need Adobe software permanently. They're more likely to need it for a month or so. Rental makes it much cheaper for them to do what needs to be done.

  • Love the ending by the way

  • I actually want the industry to develop books with the internet inside their pages. Something I can keep in my library with a variety of internets I can own.

  • Lol pirating will never change.......

"THIS JUST IN IT IS 2020 AND HACKERS HAVE FINALLY FOUND A WAY TO DOWNLOAD HARDWARE? UPDATES WITH LISA (insert last name here).

  • I tried live dot pirillo dot ivegotalzheimers

    It didn't work…

  • 3:28

Lay off the coke, there, Chris!

(I jest; your point is entirely valid and I do agree.)

  • my windows 7 isnt worth money, all hail thepiratebay

  • @C2aimar123 Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free, you are a pirate!

Yar - har - fiddle-dee-dee, being a pirate is all right to be!

Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free, you are a pirate!

  • the only thing i don't like is the time limit idea. you rent it for a said time, you like it even if out of date. do you still have to update you programing and using something you neither like or want? if m$ done this, what would happen when they released vista lol. funny thought there. i bet mac's stocks would go through the roof from the sales. the thing this will do is make money and for sale by stopping people from using the older already bought software over time. it does not seem right.

  • When you put that whining voice on, you sounds slightly like the receptionist from Monsters Inc! haha

  • What are your thoughts on the iOS5 new music player?

  • Jeez man calm down

  • cannabis leaf in your screen saver brah ;) you probably already know....

  • TORRENTS !!!

    nuff said

  • i dont like rentals because i cant pirate anymore

  • @DPB54 relax, there has always been people that crack software, there always will be. for example, games... they get cracked, they update and change things, they come out with another crack and and it still works. m$ has been fighting piracy for a very long time with no luck. not that i would know but the same crack that worked for vista still works on win 7 with all the updates no b/s. it's not going to change things dude...

the exception to paying for software is vista or it should be :D

  • @blueovalfan23 i just said it because if you actually watched the video, you would know that he did that showing what the complainers sound like to him....relax

  • Who's in the room with you?

  • @WandillupVideos thnx for the info, but how do know if thenew CPU is compatible with the CPU socket on the motherboard?

  • Now take the opposite of his answer and there you go ;)

  • @lockergnome how did you accually begin your empire I know you've done videos on how to be Chris Pirillo, but what was your opportunity that you that you took advantage of the situation so how did you really begin?

  • Is it possible to upgrade a computers CPU

  • @imacman27 Yes it is possible, but you have to make sure that the new CPU is compatible with the CPU socket on the motherboard. I hope this helps.

  • To get through this video be prepared to fast forward.

  • do you have neighbors and do they hear you? Im just curious.

  • Like this if you viewed this video because of the Cannabis leaf on the screen in the back! 2:24 _\|/_

  • well all of their softwares have 30 day trials

  • fuck you, TooslowGamer

  • @oyvindasd Fuck you, oyvindasd!

  • Fuck you, Chris Pirillo.

  • OK Lamarr... (3:29)

  • i thought there was a marijuana leaf on the screensaver in the thumbnail

  • @moheh me too thats the only reason i watcehd it lmfao

  • like if u watched this video because of the pot leaf in the background

  • @casedilla333 its not a pot leaf sure if looks just like it but its not a pot leaf

  • @casedilla333 Hell Yeah! I usually watch some of Chris' videos.. if it interests me but as soon as I had to watch the one with a weed leaf in there hahaha

  • @casedilla333 Everybody on youtube is a freakin pothead.

  • I could have gone without that part from 2:57 until 3:27, but other than that I like it.

  • I'm pretty close to dropping lockergnome channel from my sub list. I miss the professionalism from his early YouTube vids...they seem like a lifetime ago.

  • I can only agree with that, and I'm glad somebody else feels that way too. I thought maybe it was just ME and I was just too cynical. I would like to see (FEWER but more informative) posts to this channel. I think the kind of action that is happening now is geared to a DIFFERENT type of audience. Don't sell out Mr. Chris.

  • Comment removed

  • Cannabis plant from 2:25 to 3:15. Pass the joint on Chris...

  • Please don't cry like that again Chris, please!

  • The thumbnail for the video is awesome!

  • If these companies make these subscriptions cheap enough it will probably reduce piracy since more people will be able to afford the month to month costs. Renting is a pretty big thing, we rent web hosting, many businesses rent computers, and we subscribe to a ton of things online like Netflix and Xbox Live.

  • STOP AT 5:01 hahaha!

  • @MrSaxxia He Looks Like the Joker From the BATMAN! :P

  • whats with the weed screensaver lol haha XD

  • lol, as soon as i see any software discussion, I automatically think pirate bay, you tell me what student can ultimately rent or let alone buy any piece of software. its sad the the new generations direction is most likely freeware, if not through some means of piracy...... period.

  • wallpaper in thumbnail looks like weed

  • You know, there is no exeptions to a few rules, Chris. For example.Rule 34, the rule that nothing is un-crackable, a few other rules.

Speaking about uncrackable, I'M ON A BOAT THAT IS IN THE BAY OF SWEDISH PIRATES(The Pirate Bay is too mainstream)

  • Chris that is actually what you sound like.

  • Press 5 and then 7

  • I have my ship docked to the pirate bay

  • He really looks like he needs some sleep ?

  • 2:58 Chris, you are so pathetic... No offence.

  • The thumbnail for this video looks like he's covering something to do with weed.

  • Lol good way to make me laugh in the morning :P

  • Keep pressing 5.

  • Probably not considering most video editing software has a steep learning curve.

  • Why do companys like Adobe price their software so high, Photoshop is £657. How can Adobe really justify this price, you can build your own topSpec PC for that. I can see why people do turn to Piracy...

  • @OnlyFoolsAndHorsesHQ For people and businesses who actually make their living with the stuff, it's cheap. It pays for itself it no time if that's your market. However, having said that, Adobe ROYALLY SCREW their non-US customers. In the UK we pay $1000 MORE than the US for the Master Collection, even though it's the exact same software. Their excuse is "language localisation" which is BULL, the US version has UK English too, AND Spanish, the UK version is English only. Download costs more too.

  • @TalesOfWar I totally agree for businesses fair enough, but for students and people who want to learn it is a pretty ridiculous amount of money, plus what dosen't help is the high Tax we pay in the UK.

  • @OnlyFoolsAndHorsesHQ Tax doesn't account for a 70% price hike, that's just Adobe being greedy c... yeah. Students get the stuff cheap as chips, the license is just limited to education though, you can't sell your work made with it, that's why the full license is so outrageously expensive, because you're compensating them for you making money from their products. I wouldn't mind the price so much if it was actually coded properly and designed better. Ironic it's designed so badly too lol.

  • in the thumbnail for the video your screensaver looks like a pot plant.

  • I used to pirate Photoshop but then i paid for a key once i got used to it, Piracy is amassing it gets people used to the software. I will NEVER rent ANY software!!! if i have to i will find a way how to download it and redistribute it under a slightly different name!

  • Piracy isn't cool, but I doubt renting will put an end to it.

  • @owen615 exactly if you have a choice between $0 and $1 for software people are more likly to choose $0

  • @TheAlexagius You'd be surprised. People often pirate things because the price is just way out there. Price things accordingly and most would be more inclined to pay for it. That is of course assuming they find genuine value in the software in question. If they think it's worth that $1 they'll pay it. The problem with Adobe stuff is it's the de-facto industry standard in design, so you NEED it to compete in the field, but it's pro stuff and has a pro price tag. Pro's pay it, as they need it.

  • love the screen saver what it called

  • I think it makes sense for business to rent software but for individuals, the costs are still prohibitive. In the future, when download speeds are even faster, then I think it will come into its own, but the software companies will need to adopt a micropayment system to make it palatable for home users.

  • but rent mean that you dont own it ...the law about rent is not the same like owning it ..your information ..is the most important ...so owning is the best for people wont to make alot of money ...but for people who will stay for a year or two in the market that ok

  • this is why LgpL / foss already pwns and dominates the future

  • no

  • thumbs up if you remember the show " screen savers " !

  • Press buttons, 1,2,3,5,6,7,8,9, thumbs up if you like :D

  • Excuse me, but did he just say that rental software can't be pirated? What type of bullshit is this?! And, just to give you the heads-up, software industry can ignore consumers all they want, they cant treat them like shit all they want, but once those consumers start downloading their stuff from the Internet developers turn into little whiny bitches in a blink of an eye, and they start telling how hard they've been working to create their programs, and all other nonsense.

  • Don't you think that answering juice is very similar to analysis juice and analysis juice is very similar to unboxing juice?

  • keep pressing 5.

  • where would the world be without the internet?

  • Student discounts are still the way to go when getting any adobe product

  • Wow, Chris interesting

  • Intoxicated Chris.

  • YOUR EXPRESSIONS UNUSUAL LOL

  • Hi iv just got a new mac book pro i want to keep it running as well as its possible what to i have to do to keep in top form.?

weekly maintains, software that i should have installed ie antivirus firewalls etc.

  • you know what.

I would love to rent software.

I use Autocad and for the 2010 version I payed $7000 at the time and thats for 1 user, now 2012 is out.

Should I have to pay that again?

    Rent would be GREAT

  • well i kind of have... i get it on one computer and then when the computer dies it dies with it

  • Geez chris, you sound like a troll 3:00

  • SSssssssssssssTOP IT! - wilsontech1

  • I havent paid for a program yet and im not gonna start now :) things havent change that much :)

  • just downloaded pages for mac.

  • You will still be able to pirate

  • the picture on the monitor on the thumbnail looks like a pot leaf!

  • i only use open-source freeware... it's the way to go

  • Comment removed

  • oh man ur awesome....

  • Hell no, what's the point? They already charge you up the ass just to "own" the thing, why would I want to pay money and not have it forever?

  • @davidajmartinez point is that maybe you don't want to own the thing forever and it is cheaper also some companies might do rent to own a license or something who knows

  • I love TPB too, but since more and more programs are become available for download, what will pirating be like in the future? How will it be stopped? Or will it even me stopped?

  • i <3 The Pirate Bay :)

  • I <3 GPL

  • can't stop pirating lol

  • I don't think renting will ever catch on for software but what would be cool would be like a rent to own.

  • I would still pay full price for my Adobe software, as long as I am given that option. I started with CS4, and I was happy with it. Upgraded to CS5 when I got a good deal on it, and have no plan to upgrade to CS5.5.

I think the rental idea is a lot like extended service plans on cars. It sounds like a good deal now, but I can guarantee they are getting more of your money in the end. They have to. If it wasn't better for them that the current plan, they wouldn't offer it. That is business.

  • is office 360 available yet and if so is it available to individual students? .

  • I rent all my software from The Pirate Bay.

  • @KingKoreSpeedcore And you're proud of that? Do you know how much effort goes into making software? And you steal it. Idiot!

  • @KingKoreSpeedcore The pirate bay is my best friend :)

  • @KingKoreSpeedcore \(^o^)/ ftw

  • Wow keep pressing 5... O.o

  • time to blaze lol 2:25

  • If there are rentals then there will be a Netflix format. All you can eat software for $20/month. People like quantity.

  • @Axzees Thanks.

  • I have to say your impression of the "internet whine" was epic. LOL

  • I'm not sure that is a smart move really. 1 - Adobe is over priced on a lot of their software. Who wants to spend $200-$300 on a piece of software, when you can get the same, some times better for free? 2 - Why would I want to spend an extra $5-$10-$20 per month on Software? Especially if I'm having to purchase multiple pieces of software. Bad move if you ask me. Some things are more acceptable paid monthly. But, those things you've always had to pay monthly on.

  • Will you marry me?

  • Weed screen saver classy electric sheep

  • I completely agree with you!!!!!

  • If this new rental system makes the programs more affordable, then I won't have a reason to torrent it in the first place and would rather just get the program legally and not deal with keygens, cracks, patches, monitoring that the program doesn't go online for updates, etc. I only use AfterEffects CS5 for about 1-2 days every 2-4 months anyway.

  • Meh, most corporations are just after the money...

  • btw, what screensaver is that?

  • Who said you can't pirate rentals?

Just get the rental and pirate it...

  • Maybe instead of them adding a time limit to when the software expires. You pay a little less, for the software, but no updates. But if you need the updates you have to pay a monthly or yearly subscription fee, for lifetime updates and support for software you are buying , that one way. The other way would be to pay for the software with at least one year free updates and support at full price, or have the option for a monthly plan if you want to rent the software that will expire.

  • turned off once again when you started yelling too loud

  • I'd rather rent, than pay a huge price upfront, especially, if I don't have it.

  • Well I'm not being very productive now that I'm watching this video now am I?

  • Hm, what about the ilok?

  • i was in livestream :D

  • I agree with you Chris on the software rentals but not on music rentals. Mind you that's a completely different topic to be saved for another video...

  • Who buys software anymore?

  • @talldude123

Sometimes, I bought Windows 7 for the computer I built, Sketchbook Pro as there are no free programs that work as well. Overall I can find a free program that does well enough for what I need.

  • I agree with software moving to the cloud, and I also saw your video on Chrome OS - I cannot wait to get my hands on one of those Chromebooks. :)

  • Suing for you stealing my "STOP IT." Papers are being sent via email shortly.

  • @wilsontech1 You should get that on a t-shirt and then watch everyone's confused reaction in public when they see it. Unless they're a viewer of course, in which case they'll hi-five you and buy you Subway because you're so awesome... maybe.

  • renting is a stupid way of buying things. you will only end up paying more than buying the darn license itsself

  • no, renting it? no. i rather buy to own. why spend more.

  • I would like to see apple doing that since they got the app store and they make there own product so it's more effective to see how they will achieve it.

  • dude your missing a monitor!

  • I'm a profession graphic & web designer and do photography on the side. The annual subscription plan is a rip off compared to paying full price for the software.

Adobe Master CS5.5 = $2,599 or $130 per month based on an annual contract.

Adobe normally releases new versions every 24 months. So that equates to $3,120 vs $2599! That's a $519 difference! Plus the upgrade cost is only $549, so paying a subscription really robs you!

  • MIcrosoft is doing it techinically with Software Assurance..and now with Office 365.

  • Best Break Down In Youtube History ... It's My Life priceless

  • Where can I get the screensaver at 2:29?

  • @ecwfan3052 - Electric Sheep.

  • @ecwfan3052 it's electric sheep

  • These rentals are going to have to be cheap, I could see it being useful for a program that normally would cost hundreds of dollars and the rental is set low enough, if it just ends up costing as much as the full program in a year or two I would rather just own it outright and be able to use it for years.

Personally I like the way I currently own (use) my software, also do not want to be dependent on an internet connection for every single program on my system.
