how did you make the Mario character blend with the back ground or did you just download the sprite

don't save it as a jpeg and have a background color for the sprite,save it as a bitmap or something, that will make the background of the sprite transparent. (solid color in paint that surrounds everything as long as it isn't on your sprite) and insert into game make, then check the transparent box.

Because I am gettiing sort of sick of collectathon games and just want a straight out 2d Mario game. The most recent one was fierce days which I never liked because it was impossible for me.
