@kelly6580 I know its but & I never cared. However, it was warm since I had just came home from a friends place. The tires packed with snow and tracks indicate it had been recently moved and the idle was real low.
@ColtenLV8 hey man i got 40 series on my truck with no cats you might wanna check my vids but i think its a bit on the quite side so im going to 10 series soon
@DarrenWS6 mine is a 01...but the thing about it is the truck has 300000 on it without a major overhaul...only thing we had to put on was a oil pump, starter, and a new belt...and tires
When you put your super 44 flow master mufflers did you put 2 of them on it? or did you splice the 2 into one inlet? Cause every 44 muffler i have found only had one inlet.
did you see any change in mpg? im in the middle of doin my exhaust and im not sure what i want to do. im runnin dumps right now and its gotta go. mpg sucks right now. help me out man.
hi what did that set up run you im going to buy a 2000 2500 ext cab shrot bed with the 6.o liter. if could help me out it would be appreciated greatly thanks kevin
@zr2chevypickupman There was plenty of room. I didn't need a crew cab so it was more than enough room for me haha. I sat back there a few times, i'm average spec, 5'11 165lbs. More than enough room.
hey where did you get your tail light covers and how much and also what kind. i have a 2005 2500HD as well and seem to only find the partial covers or chrome partials not the black outs
@bulletj930 lol yeah. Check out your local paint shops and see what they can do. This costed me $60.00 bucks and is of a much better quality than that VHT spray tint crap.
ford is a bully shit truck sorry to say my 02 chevy 6.0l 2500hd 280.00 km no real problems and its been a plow truck winter since it was new. and its still working like a bitch. and my 09 lbz duramax is the best hands down.
i would out the duramax up to any truck out there. AND MAY THR BEST TRUCK WIN
this truck didn't sound too bad but i like the sound of a magnaflow or borla muffler WAY better, i have a magnaflow on my frontier and my dad has a borla on his f150, flowmaster have that hollow barrel sound to them and i just don't care for it.
I agree fully with you. Flowmaster sounds terrible to me anymore, noisey and tinny. I have since replaced this truck with an F150 and have Magnaflow true duals, in love with it.
I couldnt agree with you more darren, u took the word right outta my mouth. the new F-150's are very very well built, strong, super reliable, and extremely refined for a truck. it easily competes with other company's hd trucks, it actually bats them in almost every catagory. I love my ford, my familly started out as chevy lovers, but over the years realized how cheesy they are and switched to ford. so far no regrets, just satisfaction. and as for nascar not using flows, sorry, but they do
We have had many ford trucks and GM trucks over the last 30 years and every ford truck we have owned has been underpowered and a major headache for us. We currently have an 02 Expedition with the 5.4 and the thing is a pig. Barely tows my race car and it is chock full of electrical problems. Our 98 K2500 has 200K and has been worked to death towing daily and no problems to speak of and plenty of power. Same goes for the other GM trucks we have owned. The Expedition is our last Ford we will own.
i'm not, its where i started, its shocking that i bought this Chevy. Started with an 02 Explorer, traded that for an 01 F150 since i needed a truck, that got stolen so i got the 2500HD, got sick of its problems and didn't like it, very uncomfortable inside, after the warranty expired i got my F150, happy again. Best truck i've ever owned, until i get my 2010 F150.
They do last well, they did good back in those days, where back then Ford was the opposite, those rusted out quickly and slacked. These modern days the tables are turned. Not cheap to fix, thats probably because they dont break down anymore :) lol, I am very happy with the current generation Fords, built excellent with precision, quality, and many of great features. Everyone likes something more than something else due to experience, or immature un-experienced life styles..
Ford does not suck, its a much more professional and tougher built truck, and they outlast the new Chevys & Dodges. Fords 5.4 has more torue and the fully boxed frame makes towing up to 10,000s simple, and thats all my 2500HD was rated for, pathetic that Fords half ton is as tough as a 2500HD. And for your information my Ford sounds much better than this push-rod tin can did.
it was a piece of shit imo, easilly dented body, had some engine and brake problems, and i dont need a 3/4 ton truck. Traded it for an 04 F150, much much happier, much better designed truck, more comfortable, smoother ride, and never 1 problem other than a new battery which is general maintainence.
Paul dont start fucking shit with people I converse with, I happen to agree with him that it sounds shitty anyways, I was ready to change mufflers a few months prior to getting rid of this truck.
and im not putting down straight thru's, or even any other mufflers, I honestly thing those mags u got on ur truck darren sound amazing, very clean and deep tone. and yes, u will find other mufflers that outperform flows, but with my truck I need the best cuz its supercharged, and I picked, and was told to pick flows. Im happy I did.
honestly, I completely understand y ppl think that, but as a tech I've seen and heard things from real racers, and on the job that are surprising. car engineers use baffles instead of straight thru mufflers, cuz the added intitial backpressure improves low end torque. with flowmasters, u get that same effect, but with higher flow so it improves low and midrange power. straight thru's are great for top end, high revving motors, but for big v-8's, chambered mufflers are best. sound good too lol
im not tryin to be a dick, but flowmasters, especially delta flow, makes good torque and horsepower. I could give 2 shits about horsepower, I want torque. I had magnaflow magnapaks on my gmc, 5.7 vortec, dyno'd it the day I put them on, it made 210 ftlbs. after a week I decided I hated the sound, so I went to flowmaster super 40's. and dyno'd it again and it made 217 ftlbs. coincidence? maybe. but my best friend works for busch series, and he says they use flows cuz the make the most torque
hmm, that is really different, but if you have had a dyno proven result, I guess there is no argument. With the chambered design and open case I would imagine it would kill flow performance.
flowmasters blow huh? say that when you see actual dyno charts on the same vehicle before and after with flowmasters on first, and "good" brands like borla or dynomax, or cherry bomb, or even magnaflow. flowmaster flows alot more, I've cut mine open before, there is no restriction in therm at all. what kind of mufflers does nascar use??? FLOWMASTER. what kind of mufflers do pro street cars use? FLOWMASTER. why? cuz they flow the most, and usually sound good.
Flowmaster's open case interupts velocity and throws the balance off, a straight through un-int erupted exhaust exhales much easier aiding in better performance. I have seen quite a few exhaust dynos and in the end the WOT performance of a straight through exhaust has more torque than a mis-guided chambered exhaust does.
darrenws6, you seem like a cool guy, and Im a fellow F-150 owner, I have a 2005 roush s/c'd 5.4 with true dual 40 series, ford racing shorty headers, edge level 3 tune, and the roush s/c cold air kit. I would take a ford ANYDAY over a chevy, I owned 2 silverados, both broke down on me atleast 4 times each, one only had 55k on it. I wanted to add to this, that the 6.0 vortec manifolds are not even close to mid length headers. shorties made a huge difference in my truck.
why would you rather have a ford than this? i have an 06 silverado 2500hd with the 6.0l and its way better than my friends f150. i can haul more weight, i dont get stuck anywhere, never had a problem with mine and i love it.
This truck blew the power steering and braking pump, and cyl #5 was fucked up. Fords have never let me down, are more comfortable, and a better designed and built truck in my opinion. A 2500HD does not make a very suitable daily driver neither, my needs betterly fit a half ton, and my 04 F150 is far more superior to me than this truck was, and its faster and just as tough after a few performance goodies.
Well actually I did, traded it for an 04 F150, much better truck, doesn't break down like Chevy, and gets good economy while being just as tough as a 2500HD.
hey man. i have pretty much the same truck with but with true dual super 40's. i think you have seen some of my vids. but anyways my truck is pretty loud and sounds damn nice but i want to make it have a little more growl like your chevy used to. would you recommend the h pipe or an x pipe for it? also i want some magnaflow high flow cats but i cant find them for the 2500hd. how did you like the high flows? if you could answer some of these questions that would be great. thanks man
Well running no crossover will be loudest, but performance will be weaker without an X pipe. X pipe is the better way to go for a cross over.
As for volume increase and cats, well the cats that were in mine I identified as Magnaflows, and they were 3" just like stock, and had the O2 sensors mounted after them. Upgrading the cats might make a better/more open sound, but very little, GM truck cats resonate little sound as is. I say if you want real aggression, Longtube headers.
yea headers is the last thing i will do. but i want mine to sound just like this one in the vid i didn't know if the h pipe you had on it made any difference? cause right now mine is straight piping to the mufflers and it deff is not as loud as yours was. so you think the high flow cats really dont do anything?
well you do have the Super 40s which are a bit quieter than the Super 44s and 40 series, they're deeper than they are aggressive. Cross overs tend to calm down exhausts, so I couldn't imagine this truck without any cross over.. Well the cats may make a 10% difference but its very minimal. The cat work was done to my truck when I bought it. If you dont want to change mufflers or cats, go for the longtubes.
shorties dont gain anything, not even sound since 6.0L stock manifolds are almost a mid-length header design. Pacesetter makes decent LTs, Dynatech makes the best, OBX is another which is the cheapest but they wont last and aren't stainless.
yea thats what i thought. i really really like dynatechs but i can't find any for the 6.0l online? probably some custom welding that a shop would have to do.
correct. the exhaust is tuned for the 6.0 in stock trim. the di/do muffler is blocked off on one side of the chamber to slow airflow and create more back pressure as are the reducers on the stock manifolds. the 8.1 the muffler is not blocked off nor does it have reducers. i have the same truck with 2 replacement borla xr1 race mufflers and i wish i would have re done the exhaust with 2.5 or 2.25 and an x pipe for performance sake
first of all not to bash you. but swapping out the cats on an HD is pointless they have high flow cats factory. and 3" dual exhaust is way to big for a stock 6.0 i know from experience. the factory muffler is blocked off on one side and there are reducers off the stock manifolds the 3" set up is meant for the 8.1
Correct. I bought the truck with the Magnaflow cats in it, and the exhaust was stock. All 2500HDs 6.0L or not, have the 3" dual pipe ssytem into the dual in/out muffler that Y piped to the 3.5" tailpipe. GM designed it and put it on the truck, so they obviously have it tuned to work, or they're real idiots.
Well it was a trade, & i wanted to get rid of the thing asap. I took care of it mechanicallty and detailed it now and then but i didn't bother going the far extra mile for it, smoked in it and all that, the noisey exhaust lowered the value too.
yeah I know, I wanted a nice sound, didn't expect to get as much sound as it gave. It was fun, but the noise inside really got to me after a half hr of driving, man I had alot of headaches lol.
yes ofcoarse. Remove the shroud and then tyou can better access the two cheap nut like things behind it holding it in place. Vice grips/plyers work best. Its not a socket per say, but an 8mm could work too, not sure but my Ford's can come off with an 8mm.
graduated high school, worked and saved since i was 14, wise investings, excellent credit, and my dads friend who referred me to the seller gave me a little bit of slack ( $4,000 work out of $26,000 ) cause he didn't want be buying another Ford lol, but a year later I sold it and bought my '04 F150.
oh yeah, well thats cool. Buying at 14yrs old thats pretty damn cool man, i was 17 till i bought my first car.
yeah thats pretty much why, too much truck for my working needs, terrible gas mileage for the distances i travel on a weekly basis. Happier with the F150.

DarrenWS6 2 years ago
awsome f150s are best
cm5271 2 years ago
is that a 45 degree bend or something else?
82Painter 2 years ago
yes, 45'd behind both wheels.
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
How much did it cost you for the system?
indiglo111 2 years ago
$345
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
wow great prise i could not come close to that in canada for my truck its close $1200 for the hole system
GMT880 2 years ago
yeah pricing is definitely a bit higher around there. Labor rates are crazy.
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
yeh its close to $90 an hour bullshit lol
GMT880 2 years ago
sounds awesome.
farmkid01 2 years ago
hell ya dude im gettin this truck next year but im getting mine black
Adioskater2008 2 years ago
hey man. i have pretty much the same truck with but with true dual super 40's. i think you have seen some of my vids. but anyways my truck is pretty loud and sounds damn nice but i want to make it have a little more growl like your chevy used to. would you recommend the h pipe or an x pipe for it? also i want some magnaflow high flow cats but i cant find them for the 2500hd. how did you like the high flows? if you could answer some of these questions that would be great. thanks man
smc13s 2 years ago
Well running no crossover will be loudest, but performance will be weaker without an X pipe. X pipe is the better way to go for a cross over.
As for volume increase and cats, well the cats that were in mine I identified as Magnaflows, and they were 3" just like stock, and had the O2 sensors mounted after them. Upgrading the cats might make a better/more open sound, but very little, GM truck cats resonate little sound as is. I say if you want real aggression, Longtube headers.
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
yea headers is the last thing i will do. but i want mine to sound just like this one in the vid i didn't know if the h pipe you had on it made any difference? cause right now mine is straight piping to the mufflers and it deff is not as loud as yours was. so you think the high flow cats really dont do anything?
smc13s 2 years ago
well you do have the Super 40s which are a bit quieter than the Super 44s and 40 series, they're deeper than they are aggressive. Cross overs tend to calm down exhausts, so I couldn't imagine this truck without any cross over.. Well the cats may make a 10% difference but its very minimal. The cat work was done to my truck when I bought it. If you dont want to change mufflers or cats, go for the longtubes.
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
what longtubes would you recommend? what about shorty headers? thanks for the help
smc13s 2 years ago
shorties dont gain anything, not even sound since 6.0L stock manifolds are almost a mid-length header design. Pacesetter makes decent LTs, Dynatech makes the best, OBX is another which is the cheapest but they wont last and aren't stainless.
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
yea thats what i thought. i really really like dynatechs but i can't find any for the 6.0l online? probably some custom welding that a shop would have to do.
smc13s 2 years ago
not sure, could be done, though it'll cost a penny, but it would get done. Keep checking ebay I guess.
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
yea i cant find any videos of a 2500hd with headers. not to many options. thanks for the help though
smc13s 2 years ago
hey man my truck sounds like that now
kelly6580 2 years ago
ah sweet. got the exhaust done?
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
no i just chopped the muffler off
sounds exactly the same
even on the inside
kelly6580 2 years ago
ha sweet. keeping it that way? or adding a muffler(s) in the future?
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
for now i wanna keep it that way
but like you said after long drives its annoying
but as for now im keeping it the way it is
ill make a vid soon but its raining plus i gotta do that community service tom r o
kelly6580 2 years ago
sweet, sounds like a plan
DarrenWS6 2 years ago
This is one of the better sounding tucks I've heard on youtube. Well done!
ChrisBFMV31 2 years ago
Your right. It is cheeper that premium in idaho. But wait about 3 months and it will be 5 bucks again
SpeedRacer942 3 years ago
need diesel
bevtravel5 3 years ago
I have no need for a Diesel engine.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
Diesel gets better MPG.
Unless diesel is still horrendously expensive in your area.
It's finally cheaper than premium gas in Idaho!
zytekfan 3 years ago
wow by what 5mpg
plus its alot more to buy the damn truck
i like diesels but its alot for the damn engine

thats not bad at all for a 2500
how many gallons does it take to fill up and around how much to fill up
sorry to ask i was lookin to get one with this same set up
thanks
rayanqas 3 years ago
had a 26 gallon tank i believe.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
man thats sounds beast
j/w what kind of mpg do you get
rayanqas 3 years ago
it only got 11 - 12mpg average.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
correct. the exhaust is tuned for the 6.0 in stock trim. the di/do muffler is blocked off on one side of the chamber to slow airflow and create more back pressure as are the reducers on the stock manifolds. the 8.1 the muffler is not blocked off nor does it have reducers. i have the same truck with 2 replacement borla xr1 race mufflers and i wish i would have re done the exhaust with 2.5 or 2.25 and an x pipe for performance sake
fullcircle87 3 years ago
same here, mine lost some good low end with my muffler swap and dual tailpipes, but i was after a deep and loud sound and I achieved it.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
i sent a video response with my set up. just 2 borla xr-1 mufflers
fullcircle87 3 years ago
first of all not to bash you. but swapping out the cats on an HD is pointless they have high flow cats factory. and 3" dual exhaust is way to big for a stock 6.0 i know from experience. the factory muffler is blocked off on one side and there are reducers off the stock manifolds the 3" set up is meant for the 8.1
fullcircle87 3 years ago
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
man i cant wait to have this sound
kelly6580 3 years ago
how much did you sell that for
kelly6580 3 years ago
trade in gave me $8k
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
are you fuckin serius
DAMN how many miles becuase you got ripped off
kelly6580 3 years ago
Well it was a trade, & i wanted to get rid of the thing asap. I took care of it mechanicallty and detailed it now and then but i didn't bother going the far extra mile for it, smoked in it and all that, the noisey exhaust lowered the value too.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
they lowered the value becuase it had dual exhaust???
thats fuckin stupid i think it would go up
kelly6580 3 years ago
Not many people want a loud as hell truck, just the young kids. I wouldn't have bought it if it had that exhaust.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
why not you put them on
i showed this to my dad who is 44 and he would love to have a loud ass truck
kelly6580 3 years ago
yeah I know, I wanted a nice sound, didn't expect to get as much sound as it gave. It was fun, but the noise inside really got to me after a half hr of driving, man I had alot of headaches lol.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
yea i guess it would sound bad for a really long drive if your going the same speed
kelly6580 3 years ago
badass truck. i really like the black bowtie. did u do it yourself?
quiksilver9990 3 years ago
yep, pulled it out, sprayed with Krylon Fusion Gloss Black, let it dry for a day and bake in the sun, put it back in next morning.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
will it ever come off? and i have heard that some ppl sand the bowtie be4 they paint it so that the paint will stick better?
quiksilver9990 3 years ago
yes ofcoarse. Remove the shroud and then tyou can better access the two cheap nut like things behind it holding it in place. Vice grips/plyers work best. Its not a socket per say, but an 8mm could work too, not sure but my Ford's can come off with an 8mm.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
dude you are 20 years old how can you afford something like that
kelly6580 3 years ago
graduated high school, worked and saved since i was 14, wise investings, excellent credit, and my dads friend who referred me to the seller gave me a little bit of slack ( $4,000 work out of $26,000 ) cause he didn't want be buying another Ford lol, but a year later I sold it and bought my '04 F150.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
i see
i bought my truck when i was 14 becuase i just wanted it so fuckin bad
just to have a truck i could do shit to it
but now im broke becuase i bought it about 10 monthes ago
but i cant belive you sold that chevy for a f150
not becuase i dont like fors becuase they are nice but that chevy was a fuckin monster
kelly6580 3 years ago
oh yeah, well thats cool. Buying at 14yrs old thats pretty damn cool man, i was 17 till i bought my first car.
yeah thats pretty much why, too much truck for my working needs, terrible gas mileage for the distances i travel on a weekly basis. Happier with the F150.
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
i cant belive my mom let me get it prolly becuase i would not shut up about trucks till i got one
well gas aint that high anymore its a buck64 where im at
i filled my truck today for 31 bucks
ill have vids of my truck up after christmas becuase im getting some cool stuff for it
i might do a stock exhaust vid. tom r o
kelly6580 3 years ago
cool man, yeah thats the way to do it lol, bug em and you'll win soon enough haha. Sweet, saw that muffler out and let that 5.3 roar lol
DarrenWS6 3 years ago
i really want to cut it off really bad but i dont know how my dad would feel about it
ill ask him when e-check is then ill do it becuase i should have enough money by time i have to do it again to buy duals
kelly6580 3 years ago
oh yeah, e-check ah that sucks lol
