Download the patch and switch the compability to windows 98. It works fine with no errors.

I've heard that the original game now that i have a modern pc can not be played on windows xp and that i must find patches and add ons to play it. Can you give me some more information if you know something relevant?

Yeah that's right. My copy is beat up as hell these days, and wont really run well. I actually tried to find the patch everywhere, but had pretty much no luck. I even emailed Lucasarts, and the creator's current company, and no-one had any advice. You could try to check out some of the remaining Grim Fandango fan sites and see if anyone has any advice? If you can get a copy to work, I promise it would be worth it. XD
