Loved you're smile after your funny story, Bill! lol. Thanks for the help! This really made me decide to buy a Shure sm58. Any tips on video recording at home? The set-up? What do I need to produce a nice recording audio and video. Thanks again.
57's are good in a live setting for vocals but I'd rather record with a condenser. I have a baritone-sounding voice, and I've found that condensers work better.
I don't think if I will ever need any of this information, because quite frankly as much as I would love to be a musician, my vocal talent is well, lacking. But I still find it interesting, and who knows.
I love you guys, but I don't know how to play any instruments, and I'm probably not going to start recording anything soon...so don't hate me for unsubcribing?
It's still a great idea for a collab, just not at all to my interest.
Thank you for the Mic tips, Bill! 57, eh? Hmm.. Well then, if it works for MJ and Drock, then it shall work for me. Or else. I'll show the mic who's boss - at a low velocity ;-)
Excellent video, I've always kinda gone with the popular opinion on vocal mics, which is why my first mic purchase was a '58. (I got the Sennheiser equivalent) Since I lost that moving out of halls, I'll consider a '57 for my all-purpose recording needs.
I once read that Steven Tylers vocals are recorded with a heavily limited SM57 :-) I own one too, but I don't use it a lot. I think it sounds a bit muffled.

Oh hey, the music sounds kind of like the Truth or Fail music. Kind of. I love that music.
All this mic talk is so informative and makes me want to buy a mic, though I'm not sure what I would do with it.

Haha. Erm, Bill. Lets just not get angry and throw microphones in the first place. haha. Throwing anything typically leads to it breaking. LOL.
Love what you guys have here so far. =)

I don't think the original plan was to throw it, was it? :P

paisleypower30 2 years ago
a 57 is basicly a 58 with out the grill
when you look at the Frequency response of them both there allmost perfectly the same
also thomann ( german audio company) sell a 57 wannabe for about 30 pounds wich is barely distiguishable from a shure 57
