This documentary is so biased. Poor Albert, requiescant in pace. They are making the Prince sound like some kind of Hitler. I bet these people made a secret doc saying that Hilter was really a good man!!! If Victoria heard this, they would be hung, and the Queen would say 'We are most amused'!!!
QUICK TO JUDGE LEHZEN? oh come on. Albert was right in the end. Lehzen had made the mistake to choose who would take care of the first princess, she made her mistake. Albert was caring and he saw that mistake.
Victoria was FURIOUS? My gawd, explain their nine children please. Please just don't tell me they had sex for the heck of it and didn't know the consequences, or that Albert was actually doing this to gain more power over Victoria...this is so frustrating.
@dredavbar There's obviously confusion going on here. Yes, King George III was VR's grandfather, but she inherited the throne after George's three other sons died without "issue" (Childless), so she inherited the throne from her uncle, not that George III was her uncle.
Albert is the best thing that could have happened to Britain! The makers of this rubbish should be ashamed for slandering the reputation of a man who deserves praise and respect for being an enlightened beacon in a time of uncertain change.
so bias, i cant believe it. i am a lover of victorian history and this is not how i would like a man who made our country better to be remembered, so insulting not only to albert but to victoria, makes her out in my view of this to be so in love that nothing else matters. they made our country better
You obviously haven't read Gillian Giles book on both Albert and Victoria. Now thats insulting and degrading to Alberts memory (not to mention inaccurate on so many anecdotes).
You have to take into consideration though, that these views given are mainly the views perpetuated by the media of their day (particularly "Punch" and "The Times").
I'm with most people when they say this documentary is bias to the max.
"Just a man concerned only with substance?" I can't believe it! Has that person ever looked at the thousands and thousands of pages of memoranda Albert wrote up? If he were really only concerned with "appearances" then why did he go to all that trouble to understand the many issues and write up his own ideas, if he didn't really care? The good viewpoints of Aronson, Weintraub, Sweet and the childhood psychologist appear to be edited in to fit the bias of the others here.

Wow this is so biased its unbelievable. All this documentary seems to do is make Albert seem like a power hungry manipulative man and not exactly a good father. I think Albert was a good man. None the less a very interesting documentary :)
@THANHMELBOURNE I know all the monarch in Europe are related they are mostly German based... e.g. The Franks(Germanic tribe) of France and their Emperor Charlemagne who divided his kingdom among his sons
What i am referring to here is not Blood origin its Culture differences, Albert was awkward because of his extremely strict self imposed German upbringing, Victoria is also German decent but born and raised in the English culture which is quite different but felt more at eased

The documentary writers are fools - e.g. George III was VR's grandfather, not uncle. This is infotainment, impure and adulterated.

Why wouldn't she want a lot of kids?! She was an only child and I bet she felt quite lonely being an only child, besides her half-siblings.
