  • I love your comment. I could of never had said that better myself..as for the guy below who commented on Geddy's voice cracking in the 2000's,I do not understand why Geddy's voice sometimes sounds not so ok and other times other worldly and angellic like but he is one of the truest legendary singers this world has ever known....

  • U2 is as much a great band as Superbabies is a great movie!

  • Good performance. Geddy's voice sounds better than usual. No cracking. Still don't know why he started doing that little crack in the early 2000s but it never sounded good.

  • The earliest known tour where Vital Signs was played until the Time Machine Tour!!!

  • Why did you move away from Geddy for the whole bass solo?!

  • and then everybody would be able to light lighters and burn it onto our ceilings once and future condition

  • just more proof that leaving it, the video, that is, up to the professionals, we wouldn't have this plethora of incoherence from multiviews of cellphone cameras etc... fuck it's 2011, leave that thing alone!

  • susususch the such such the my friend o fondle a bowl if douesnt go round and round like it used to do like my old jew fisherman watchkeepeer fact is he was a worn

    abagacats

  • if slack-jaw gazes were only the writers scripters

  • Alex looks a bit like a tough biker =P

  • Saw them play this on the Time Machine Tour in Toronto. Amazing as always.

  • Good sound quality!

  • Shitty cell phone footage, not worth watching.

  • under rated song!!! personally my favorite Rush song

  • cant wait to hear it live

  • Love this song, love it live.....LOVE GEDDY!!!!

  • nevermind, nope. Echo after worn memory chip.

  • Wait a tick, whats the date for this? Sounds alot like the one on the CD...

  • it's not the one from the RiR. Listen to 'pound of obscure' on both. Gives it away.

  • Estupend Lyrics....

"Everybody got to elevate from the norm..."

    "Everybody got to elevate..."

  • Everybody got to deviate from the norm....

  • "Everybody got elevate to from the norm"...absolute class!

  • Geddy's dance moves in the jam at 2:15 are epic.

  • Why are you filming Alex under the bass solo????

  • Comment removed

  • Alex's guitar tone is not as good as it used to be. This song needs a Strat.

  • mmmmh... Rush... those guys never cease to amaze me...

  • what the hell! where was this song on the dvd?!?

dammit, i would have loved to see this song on the dvd

  • #1 grossing tour of 2002.

  • geddy lee is awewsome

  • Their popular peak was 1982 with Signals. But those sales were brought about by the radio bombardment of Tom Sawyer. Signals, much to those radio bandwagoneers dismay, was a much different result than Moving Pictures.

  • love thissong

  • U2 is overrated...It's all bono's fault...

  • wats with all this talk of U2 this is a RUSH VIDEO

  • @jfkreincarnated Lol not true

  • @hewholikethrush this video is of rush,not bono,or u2=)

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Vital Signs from this very bootleg included as an extra on the 3 disc CD set of Rush in Rio?

  • Vital Signs was a bootleg on RIR, but not this recording.

  • i think george carlin said think about how stupid the average person is, ok you got that image, now realize that over half the people out there are even more stupid than that! that's the reason why rush is still considered as a cult band, they never had the superstar status such as U2 (MOST OVERRATED BAND OF ALL-TIME) because their music is too complex for the average listener and they write music that makes people think! (U2 just think they do, really)

  • No people know rush, but they just don't like them cause there not interested into that type of music. now me, i'm an altime rush fan. and i really hate U2.

  • Not true Rush had superstar status in 1980-83. They kinda faded away but their peak was probably 1981 or so.

  • @michaelbillypec I agree!

  • @michaelbillypec

    RIP george carlin

  • @michaelbillypec Fuckin A man..fuckin' A!

  • Geddy Lee is fucking great

Almost musicals orgasms on the final of Vital Signs

    Thanks Rush

  • I wish they played this on the S&A tour. On the way back from seeing them I played this song at least like 7 times.

  • Me Too!

  • In Hershey, they were awesome although they didn't play this classic, they did surprise by playing Passage to Bangkok, Natural Science and Ghost of a chance. If you get the chance to see these masters don't hestitate, what an incredible show.

  • Does anyone have the full setlist for the Vapor Trails tour?

  • look on google for the power windows fansite...set lists of every tour

  • Awesome song. I saw them during Vapor Trails in 2003 and they didn't play this gem! I'll be seeing them on July 17 in Hershey Pa and I have my fingers crossed. I'd like to hear Camera Eye also. Pretty good vid! Thanks.

  • awesome....no comment.../awesome is a comment :)

  • At 4:20 does anyone know what Geddy sings before the final "Everybody got to revelate?" It's also the last thing he sings on the version of Vital Signs on Rush in Rio. I can't make out what he sings, anyone know?

  • mixed feelings, elevate, evelate, revelate, escalate.

  • I don't think you read my question correctly. Reread it. If you want me to be even more specific, the words are are 4:22.

  • I always though he was saying emancipate from the norm there

  • Hey, I think you're right! Thanks a lot man!

  • Rush always having at least one song on every album that no pun "deviates" a bit from the rest is why their my favorite .. They're always pushing the envelope , never afraid to try things .. Vital Signs, Territories on PW, Losing It on Signals, Madrigal on AFTK, Red Lenses on GUP, Tai Shan on HYF... on and on :-)) Bands that experiment are cool!

  • Absolute Rush, this song reflects everything I love about these guys..

  • I'd love to see this live! Very emotional song on all parts apparently, I love it!

  • im hoping for this one on the second leg of the SnA tour got my tickets for vancouver woo!

  • Would be great if this is put back in the set list for the new leg.

  • hahaha, love Geddy's stutter at 1:09.

  • el final de esta cancion realmente me mata...

    una cancion espectacular...

    sin duda...mi favorita de rush

  • the greatest rush song better than tom sawyer yyz and red barchetta

  • I like to see them playing this song a little more recently. I've seen it in videos recorded mostly in the 80's and 90's. Good to see that it sounds exactly the same!

  • My favourite rush song, I would cry of the emotion in the concert

  • Seeing them Monday night at MSG...can't wait.

  • It never gets old.

  • it must be really difficult to play that bass part and sing at the same time.

  • You know I'd rather hear older Rush any day, but to respond to some comments here... "Secret Touch" is one of the best performances on Rush in Rio, whereas the Trees is just awful.

  • Agreed.

  • I don't know, there were a few songs from older albums that were improved from Rush in Rio. Some examples are Distant Early Warning, Dreamline, and La Villa Strangiato.

  • Cool!

  • Unstable condition. In mental and environmental change. Of human interface and interchange. Internal incoherence. Everybody needs a mood lifter. Mixed feelings. Deviate from the norm! Rewind replay. Warm memory chip. Random sample..hold the one you need. Everybody need a soft filter. Elevate from the norm.

  • Yes! That's what I'm talking 'bout. Excellent lyrics. That's what Americans need-elevation from the norm. In whatever form it comes. To cope from all the Bush-shit we have to listen to everyday on the propaganda called NEWS.

Everybody has to deviate from the norm! Courageous convictions. Tired minds become shape shifters...everybody needs reverse polarity. Finally, somebody has a cure for stupidity.

Too bad nobody listens to what's free advice. Escalate from the norm. Relevate.

  • in reality, first time playing this song on tour, wow alex's rant missed de twat's previous venues, bed wetting et al.

  • Awesome! This shouldn't have been dropped out of the set list, I wish I had this on Rush in Rio instead of, uhm... Secret Touch.

  • Yeah I can't stand "Secret Touch". I'd rather hear "Ceiling Unlimited".

  • nancy should have told me, geddy

    some heather

  • Every bit as powerful as when I saw this on the "Moving Pictures" tour...

    Thanks!

  • It's a shame the "Vital Signs" from the Montreal show wasn't included on ESL.

  • ... But they play this song in Quebec... I was there and this version is awesome... You can ear it in the 3 pack cd rush in rio... The final of vital sign.. Ho my god!

  • I think they used i as a be side to one of their old singles!

"Some tough decisions had to be made. They wanted to get a balance of different types of songs. So some excellent material had to be left out. One of the leftovers, 'Vital Signs', was later released as the B-side of the 'New World Man' single." - Visions

  • If it were my choice, it definitely would have been the other way around (NWM on the B side).

  • I don't know aobut that, man...

  • Yeah. New World Man went to #1 on the charts. Vital Signs, being a good song as well (one of my faves), wouldn't have done as well.

    -=Brian=-

  • This is sweet.

  • What tour was this?

  • Vapor Trails 2002 this particular one was in toronto the second half of the tour this song was dropped as well as Between the sun and moon but I have this rare dvd so you can see

  • Nice Vid, wish I could have been there.
