Beckham wanted to be in form for the World Cup and stay in contention. I guess he wanted to play world class football at a big team with the necessary facilities. Galaxy simply didnt have the facilities, and thats not a scrape on the team. It's a big team in the US, but the MLS simply isnt the game that the Serie or Premier League is. That said, I look forward to seeing USA in the WC, they look very promising.

He is an older player and I am gutted he can't play for England but we still have some good players left. Beck's was a great player in his prime and he is still a really good player, imo he made a mistake coming to the MLS. I know that he is going to have state of the art medical treatment for his injury, but I really don't see how he can recover in time to be able to play, let alone be fit for the WC. It really sucks but as long as he cares enough to take the time for rehab he'll be able to get back into form. Probably won't see him back to 100% for about a year though.

beckham was never a great player to be honest
he could take a mean free kick and had an impressive long pass but that's about it. He had no real pace or skill, he couldn't run by 3 or 4 players with the ball. You need that to be considered one of the greatest midfielders. Beckham was good dont get me wrong but was he one of the all time greats? Hell no.

The last time Beckham's career was relevant was the Manchester years. He went down hill starting with Madrid. The majority of Americans would still have no idea who he was had he not become the MLS' cash cow. It is unfortunate that he sustained the injury but to think of Beckham being a significant force for the English (if he even made the team) is just silly. There is much better talent out there these days to waste stories on paper tigers.

actually, that was his 1st spell at AC, n joining that was a defos a factor but Beckham joined AC as he clearly missed high-end competition and didn't want to end his career at Galaxy of all teams; he knew securing even a loan at a team like AC would be his last chance of playin 4 a Champions League team, I seriously doubt his main intention to switch to AC, was to be part of the England outfit as he was picked even when he played with Galaxy. As much as I love David Beckham and he's a national icon, i do believe that he is coming to the end of his career. He's such a moral booster whenever he comes on the pitch and it'll be a great shame to know his not there.
However, he's getting old now and if hes able to cause that kind of injury from simply shifting his weight than thats not a good sign.

Beck's was a great player in his prime and he is still a really good player, imo he made a mistake coming to the MLS. I know that he is going to have state of the art medical treatment for his injury, but I really don't see how he can recover in time to be able to play, let alone be fit for the WC. It really sucks but as long as he cares enough to take the time for rehab he'll be able to get back into form. Probably won't see him back to 100% for about a year though.
