easier to throw, no. It is a softer clay and can very easily be manipulated especially when being thrown. However that doesn't make it easier to throw. too much pressure with one hand could make your pot go off center. beginners should stay away from porcelain until they get better at throwing

Porcelain is challenging to throw. The bigger the piece the more difficult it is to keep the it from collapsing. Matthew is an awesome artist.

Can I ask... when trimming, Matthew taps and listens... I know he's checking thickness.... how does a thin pot sound different to a thick pot?

Is porcelain easier to throw and sculpt than regular clay?
musicmadness1 3 years ago
its has less or little to no sand so you necessary to use less water or its more likely to collapse on itslef or warp,
so its structural while throwing but after being fired, it is stronger than most other clays and is harder to break

Matt says that when the tapping makes a resonant drum-like sound the wall is becoming appropriately thin... - on behalf of Matt.

A Venco wheel. I could tell without watching just by the sound of that pedal spring.

Thanks from a want-to-be potter. I pick up a few good points. This is one of the best pottery videos. Thanks again

I never thought of blowing out the bits of clay when trimming. Very cool.

You can also use a large paint brush to brush away the bits.
