Thanks! Btw some TAs are going to repower their S50 buses with ISLs but the problem i have with that is DD new engines are only options for the Tour Bus Applications, and the ISL is the only option for the transit bus application :-(
Oops! I meant to say brownbrownson, (Just out of curiousity) Do you know if the NYCTA has any plans on repowering the V CNGs, VII CNGs, C40LFs, or the RTS buses with ISL engines in the future?

you know, i think the driver will turn the door "on" and can be pushed open if needed and will stay closed if no one uses it. then as the driver gets ready to depart, the switch will be turned off, disabling the door. i think that's how it works.. but don't take my word for it..
Yes, brownbrownson, you are correct. Its passenger operated, so if unlocked the passengers can just push the door open (or press the yellow tape to open automatically, which sometimes doesn't work), and then when its time to leave we wait until the doors close and then it locks. Then bye bye.
Hybrids are the best as they make doing the Q41 and it's 40+ turns an afterthought. Only wish they were more reliable though as for costing $1/2 million dollar each they seem to break down a lot. Oh, and when I have a full load forget it when going over bumps as the bus feels like there is not suspension at all.
They are ONLY in Brooklyn, and not on too many routes. But 911 and 912 are always around throggs neck, bronx running as training bus or N.I.S. bus during the day.
Canon Elura 100. i actually recorded this on film, but WMM is terrible and skips all of my videos i produce from it and so as an alternative, i reupload them to my SD card and so on.
correct! that's where it was. my new video i should be putting up soon was recorded in front of a little grocery shop named Associated over on Laconia...-i forgot the other cross street.
I think that cng sounds way better than hev

@8v71buses lol that's alright. i actually have no idea. i'm a transit guy in Vegas, not NYC. so, you'd probably be better off asking @Caitsith810. :)

funny, i've never seen it happened.. it just seemed like the most logical way it'd work.. and thanks for clarifying.. !

im sure the yellow tape only alerts the driver to stop at the next stop..

This is the CNG, not Hybrid... I wonder why people get them confused when they sound so different :S
TuneRVisioN510 3 years ago
I have a question, what is the sound at 0:50 caused by? Its constantly heard on 05 and 07 CNGs.
QueensBuses 3 years ago
i asked the same and i've been told its the turbo..i think i'm wrong though..
brownbrownson 3 years ago
It IS the turbo.
TuneRVisioN510 3 years ago
okay, good. i thought i was remembering wrong..
brownbrownson 3 years ago
Yah, its the turbo release, AKA blow off valve. luv that sound!
sammydenyc 3 years ago
me too! :]

I love these buses they sound good
nyct54 3 years ago

Centro31 3 years ago
why do they sound like diesel buses
kingjokerakadd1 3 years ago
Because this is a Detroit Diesel! LOL jk I dunno.
TuneRVisioN510 3 years ago
The CNG version has DD50s. The hybrid version has Cummins ISBs.
QueensBuses 3 years ago
Yeah, Detroit Diesel Series 50G EGR to be specific ;)
TuneRVisioN510 3 years ago
because buses run off of diesel fuel. as far as i know..
brownbrownson 3 years ago
That is indeed a CNG Orion.

Oh ok, so how rare are the New Flyer C40LFs there?
newyorkfan16 4 years ago
are you asking me?
brownbrownson 4 years ago
They are ONLY in Brooklyn, and not on too many routes. But 911 and 912 are always around throggs neck, bronx running as training bus or N.I.S. bus during the day.
TuneRVisioN510 4 years ago
why are they only in Brooklyn?
brownbrownson 3 years ago
I have no clue but I am glad they're not in the Bronx because that will mean good VII CNGs going to Brooklyn to get beaten up.
TuneRVisioN510 3 years ago
Do the D60HFs always run in Manhattan?
newyorkfan16 4 years ago
i so wish i could answer that...but when i was there, i really only saw them in manhattan..
brownbrownson 4 years ago
The run in Manhattan, Bronx, and Queens (Seen 2 D60HF's on the Q111, it wasn't a NYCT bus either...)
TuneRVisioN510 4 years ago
Yes they do, they run on the M14, M15, M79, M86, M101, M102 and M103 buses!

Ohh my mistake...
Anyone knows whats causing that cool whine sound on takeoff? Its even more common on ZF trannies on the VII...
TuneRVisioN510 4 years ago
Yes thats a Orion 7 CNG, Im not too familiar with them though. They only run on Brooklyn and the Bronx routes.
QueensBuses 4 years ago
why is that?
brownbrownson 4 years ago
Dont know. They run the HEVs in Queens and Manhattan
QueensBuses 4 years ago
whats HEV? hybrid electric?
brownbrownson 4 years ago
Yeah... What camcorder do you have?
TuneRVisioN510 4 years ago
Canon Elura 100. i actually recorded this on film, but WMM is terrible and skips all of my videos i produce from it and so as an alternative, i reupload them to my SD card and so on.
brownbrownson 4 years ago
Because there are only two depots that can fuel CNG buses.
nycbusfan 4 years ago
Out of the (how many depots are there anyway?) depots there are in NYC?
brownbrownson 4 years ago
I think 27 or 28. But nycbusfan, what about the Orion V CNGs at College Point.

brownbrownson 4 years ago
It's cool, 7608 is still an Orion VII CNG, but not with the same transmission and destination signs.
