Roz does her own vocals on "Mister Goldstone", and sings most of the big final number, "Rose's Turn", w/ Lisa Kirk coming in at the ..."I had a dream, I dreamed it for you,...&c."...in other words, where the piece is very challenging vocally, plus Warners was not only bright enough to get Lisa Kirk, but to intercut the ending @ the "for me,...For Me!...FOR ME!!..." w/ Russell doing all but the last note.
THANKS for posting this delightful clip! My favorite song from this classic Broadway musical/comedy. Rosalind Russell was a wonderful "Mama Rose" in the movie version.
I was so surprised to find out that Rosalind Russell did not do her own singing!! her voice double is amazing, sounds exactly like her!! thanks so much for posting this!!
I second that emotion! It's fascinating to compare this to the other video clip available here at youtube that has Roz's own voice. Sadly, it just didnt' have the power needed for a showstopping number like this. Lisa Kirk does an AMAZING job of dubbing for her! Absolutely amazing! THANKS for your comment! :-)
This is the best dubbing job in the history of movie musicals, no question - sounds just like Roz, only she can sing. And Rosalind Russell was brilliant in this part, in my humble opinion.
Lisa Kirk is brilliant as a voice double for the highly talented Roz Russell - who just couldnt handle the vocals on a big musical .She did a good job on some songs - but Lisa - take a bow in Heaven sweet Lady..... and Roz You were a joy in the history of Hollywood.

This movie is fantastic, and the fact that it is based on a true story makes it even better. Rosalind Russell and Natalie Wood are amazing

Such a painfully uncomfortable yet delicious scene. Louise and Herbie standing there, understandably frightened of what they're witnessing.

I don't know if a better vocal match exists than Lisa Kirk for Rosalind Russel. Wow.

She really matched up her voice to be as close to Ros's as humanly possible. Wow -- Great job, Lisa.
