People go crazy spending 5,000 plus on amps. I don't really get it unless you are a touring musician or you're loaded. All you really need is a good quality tube amp. If you can't sound good on a tube amp between the 500-1,000 dollar range then a 5,000 dollar amp isn't going to make a difference. You just suck then.
@mattlittler89 I guess you just FUCKING BLOW AT PLAYING GUITAR THEN!. And you're illiterate obviously if that's all you got from my posts. Now, FUCK OFF LITTLE TROLL BITCH!!!!!!
@mattlittler89 Whatever FAGGOT. I have played very good amps. I haven't played any 5,000+ dollar hand made amps. I don't need one to sound great. I have skill unlike your little bitch ass. You could have a 80,000 dollar Dumble and you would probably still sound like shit because YOU FUCKING SUCK. NOW FUCK OFF TROLL!
Yeah, I'm not that handy with a soldering iron. I have heard real good things about Ceriatone. They have all kinds of kits and, you can get a Marshall or Dumble clone for like 1200-1300 completely assembled. Costs another few hundred to ship it to the US but it is supposed to be better than most production line amps out there. I always buy used amps so I might pick up one of their Dumble clones on ebay someday. I have two amps that I use right now that sound great.
Unfortunately, if you want hand-built quality then you have to throw down at least 3 grand. I don't have that kind of money to spend on an amp, at least not right now. I thankfully haven't had any problems with my 2000. I play at home mostly so I haven't introduced a lot of stress on it. I love the sound of my 2000 and hopefully I got one of the better specimens as far as reliability goes.
@bbnatedogg@bbnatedogg If you have the knack to do it yourself there are many great quality marshall and fender clone kits out there that are cheaper and still yield hand-built quality. Me and a friend hand-wired a JTM45 and I sourced out all of the parts through different websites to make sure I got quality parts. Everything together was about $900 and it has no issues whatsoever. Sounds amazing.
I wonder if they put that into the warranty? :D You know! "Now featureing the all new MARSHALL 410HEADBANGERS edition". Guaranteed to draw you in for a closer look then WHAM!!!!!!! It'll get ya every time weather your a banger or not. We recognize the fact that you won't be able to keep from diving in so GO AHEAD GET A RUNNING START! We have you covered. Poor guy
I agree, my JCM2000 DSL50 is incredible! So many times have asked me about my tone. Plus my Gibson LP loaded with 500T/498R ceramics add some sweet sounds to make it a mean combo!
@bbnatedogg NO DUAL REC!!!!! I am actually a big fan of the old JMP's and JCM 800.... but nothing beats my old 1974 Laney Klipp, which is internally a hot rodded plexi. Any of those those buggers were great. I am a very anti Mesa rec and 5150 type head person.........
@Coonetta I have a JCM 2000 DSL 100 watt and I love it. Haven't had any problems with it, knock on wood. Got it for a great price used. Probably wouldn't throw down 1,500 for a new one. I think ONE major reason they get a bad rap is that they are very popular, which means that lots of them are going to end up in repair shops. Same with the Fender HRD. When a lot of them are sold, of course there are going to be a lot of duds. You need to compare their failure RATE with other amps.
@Coonetta That said, Marshall really should hold themselves to a higher standard if they want to keep their reputation. Cold solder joints are inexcusable. I personally don't think most JCM 800's are a lick better than a good 2000. 800's seem like they are pretty hit or miss in my experience. All amps are to some degree. A good 2000 is much more versatile. I can get 800 scream from my lead channel and from Plexi drive to clean on my classic channel. 900's are the ones that people really hate
@bbnatedogg your right about the standards. Quality wise Pre 1983 marshalls were great.... 1984 is when they started the lower quality mass production game ala Chinese parts...... I never buy anything post early 80's anymore... .. I liked my late early 2000's jcm sound but had majorly bad luck with break downs quality issues....
@iTubeYourDadsMinge Your comment is a typical example of somebody saying some really stupid unnecessary shit about another country and ruining the way everybody looks at your country.
@iTubeYourDadsMinge what does the fact that the voice is american have to do with it? voiceovers ruin clips whether they're american, british, russian, doesn't matter.
OMFG!!!! That poor Marshall. I hope that was a MG series and not a JCM 800 or JCM 900 or he's going to be coming out the pocket. He had time to catch it before it fell, wtf was he thinking....I don't think I'm putting my head on top of my cab anymore.
there goes some bucks in replacement tubes and stuff for that amp, a good amp, all cuz he tripped on his nuts and didnt want to fall on the bc rich!? damn man screw that
@badassmofo2 That amp cannot be OK. No way a TUBE amp crashes like that without at very LEAST fucking the tubes all up. You might get away with that on a SS amp. Bet that guy felt like the World's Biggest Douche!!!!
The look on the Bass Player's face...the look of real concern as he sees his mate stack it.... then as the Amp falls back it turns into a full on "Oh the humanity!!!!" lol
First, off if this was me I could really give two dog shits about making a fool outa myself and id be more worried about my amp than the head concussion im suffering
ohh, poor amp. if this was my marshall, i would have kicked this guy's ass! bad enough he rammed his face in it, but it really didn't deserve to fall down the stage!
but maybe it survived. maybe broken tubes, but all in all, it still could be intact.
I think I'd be more worried about my guitar. Landed pretty much smack on it. Amps are made to withstand being knocked around and stuff, any decent amp would survive that fall. But the guitar just had the weight of about a 14 stone man land on it.
If that were me, I wouldn't be able to forgive myself...not for losing my footing and looking foolish, just for knocking a Marshall amp off a stage and possibly damaging it.
