By the way the contrary to popular misconception, 'pyaare watan' in this song is supposed to be Afghanistan as this is a Pathan singing for his country as a foreigner in India!!
Hello Yuan and thank you. A very touchy song about homeland. The man singing in the film is W.M. Khan. W.M. Khan sang the very first song ever in the very first Indian Talkie film, Alam Ara in 1927. It starred Prithviraj Kapoor. W.M. Khan was Pashtun just like the Kapoors. W.M. Khan was Prithviraj's closest friend. While dying in 1972, W.M. Khan at his bedside, in privacy, Prithviraj revealed all his life long secrets to his trustable friend, W.M. Khan. Some, even his own sons didnt' know.
"Choom loon mai us zubaan ko jis pe aaye tera naam"....Wonderful, heart wrenching lyrics. Makes me teary eyed each time I hear this song. This was fantastic movie and Balraj Sahni was superb in it.
"Hum jahan paida hue, us jagah hi nikle dam"....Hope this comes true in my case. I miss 'Mere Desh ki Dharti'. Thanks Yuan. You brought back memories.
yuan, this song makes me home sick! I miss I ndia sooooooooo much!i think no matter where we go ,and what we do.....in the end we like to go back to our mother land! this is such a classic patriotic song indeed!thanks yuan.

You are most welcome my friend Sarla and thanks for "revealing" yet another surprise.
This is a patriotic song and even wikipedia says "The film also has the classic patriotic song, sung by Manna Dey, Aye mere pyaare watan."
That must be the reason for you to miss the mother country, Bharat Matha!
