In the region near Lyon, France - the family that I stayed with generally did 3 hugs with a kiss. Haha - they said that it stood for the 3 rivers in the region... The Roane, The Saone - and this is the funny part - they said the third river was the Beaujolais (wine) ... The mom who was very religious said the hugs/kisses stood for the Father, Son & Holy Ghost.
