I do that if I ever get a misfire on the range (after field stripping/cleaning). Great way to make sure the action is functioning properly, but don't ever take your eyes off where you're shooting. That's how accidents happen...

Nice video of something that a lot of people haven't seen. I just bought a Beretta Cougar myself. The problem with the brass in the face lies in how you're standing. Trained standing position for right-handed shooters is left foot forward with extended arms. Here, you're standing right foot forward. Hope this helps, and have fun shooting. I know I am.
