  • He likes dem tellies

  • he has a smokin hot wife

  • is he shemale or something?

  • I don't like his guitar playing very much. But i certainly respect him as a guitarist, I can't do any better.

  • @D1vid3By0 Same thing goes for me with Iron Maiden. I'm not that into their music, but GOD are they TALENTED. Some of the best musicians ever. I just don't enjoy the music that much. :P

  • @thetrollmonger

Yea man, I went through an Iron Maiden Phase when i was a little younger. It kinda wore off when i started hearing the same solos in different songs. They are still amazing musicians though.

  • A7XIsmysoul666 Man, never thought I'd find someone who would dare... But that comment just lets us all know just how stupid you are. NEVER compare this loser with the master!!! How dare you????? You are the biggest sucker I ever read.

  • HE IS AN ARTISTE ! ! ! Amazing Guitar Science !

  • ROB ZOMBIE & ROB HALFORD Know Who To Call ! ! ! Play That G Tar Johnny 5 ! ! !

  • He's awesome, and has a killer stage presence...but damn, is he fruity.

  • guys wearing make-up = twats

  • @TopGunJAB guy insulting over youtube behind his keyboard = douchebag.

  • @Tourima lol oh the irony!

  • wow-he is way better than I have given him past credit for!

  • @cleanserene So . . .You're a Bank ?

  • @devotion1100

    A bank?

  • john 5 has been in more bands than slash and jimmi hendrix putt together and he has had so much experience Jihn 5, and synyster Gates are my Role Models on gUitar and Jimmy "The Rev " sullivan is my role model for drums (I do both)

  • He reminds me of Kat von D.

  • what all guitar players should do learn it on the clean channel and you can hear all the notes

makes it a lot easyer what a player

  • John 5 and Buckethead are the greatest "shredders" of all time.

  • @Axl9 lol, good one

  • jackson 5

  • Hi my name is John Angelo Batio Vai 5

  • cool Guitar :)

  • so we don't need a tremolo??

  • Sounds better slow. :P

  • I'm quite surprised and impressed at how well John 5 could play.

  • seriously amazing technique and amazing playing but i have to say I didn't heard that much of him i really liked ... no offense ... he's good

  • Does anyone know who does Zombie and crew's pants?? I love the frankenstein pants Rob and his band wears like John is

  • i prefer it played clean. One of the greatest rock guitarists of all time imo

  • this guy is crazy!

  • does nothing for me

  • Im 26 and I really wanna learn how to play the guitar. Anybody start playing later on in life instead of when you were a little kid?

  • @Flip4910 It's never too late to start playing an instrument. If you have the dedication and discipline to learn, then you'll succeed. As for me, I started playing guitar when I was 13 (I owned one since I was 11).

  • @Flip4910 Yep, and the thing to remember is its not your age, its not your "natural talent" its your dedication. If you WANT to learn to play and you practice and work hard, you will play. Its that simple.

Yeah its easier to start young and yeah some guys got natural talent, but the fact of the matter is hard work and dedication trump em all at the end of the day. You gotta want it bad enough.

  • @Flip4910 yeah flip did not start until i was about 32 im 36 now have learned from you tube. guys that have played all there life, guys that have played six months thats the beauty of music you can learn from anybody and you never learn it all! i have a friend that teaches guitar his oldest student was 76 years old soooo......

  • @Flip4910 I'm 37 and just started. Gets easier every day, it's never too late man.

  • I'm just wondering what sense it makes to show a lick slow. Most people might as well just pause the video and see for themselves, can't they?

  • @hardhatarea Showing a lick slow and step by step is the best way to teach. Just playing normal speed and hoping some one can pause it at the right time and then see what you're doing is terrible. I've seen people try to do youtube "lessons" that way and their horrible for learning.

Look at justinsandercoe or this guy here for how guitar lessons via youtube should be taught.

  • haha first video, where guitar was still shiny :D

  • wow, J5 has an archtop tele in the back.

  • @m0j0101 That's actually not an archtop. It's the same model as he's playing in the video. It just looks like an archtop because of the way the lights are reflecting off of it.

  • @skyvader98

He purposely played "Eruption" to show how overused it is, and to make a comparison between different styles of playing.

  • He's so awesome -swoon-

  • The bit at 3:05 is from the attitude song.

  • @inefficient, I would love to see him as the 3rd man in G3.

  • @jrsnowy Shame it's never going to happen.... Oh, how I wish it would...

  • he looks like will ferrel in Zoolander

  • when i try to sweep pick diminished arpeggios i have trouble with the pulling off's way more than the hammer on's and it pisses me the fuck off

  • @skyvader98 you made a good point. But he is just giving the viewers what they want to some degree, and the magazines have to sell, otherwise they won't hire him again. So there's a compromise.

  • He knows the notes on the fretboard. How many rock players can do that?

  • @UncleTito72 Most of the good ones. However, there ARE gifted players who never studied and are fantastic nonetheless, but asking them about the academic aspects of playing would be like asking Stevie Wonder if the picture on the wall needs to be tilted to the left or the right.

  • @theoriginalbillholt I Agree with you wholeheartedly. What I said was just a tongue in cheek comment to underline that we should not judge a player because of style. Rock players get the reputation of being musically uneducated. John5 is a prime example of the contrary. Paco de Lucia, arguably the greatest flamenco player alive today has admitted not knowing any theory at all, and who can deny his greatness? You are absolutely right. Thanks for keeping me in check.

  • i wud love to jam with this dude...

  • whats is the intro song whit the solo?

  • He's so good and seems open minded that I don't even mind that he looks like a gay hero from X men.

  • Glad he doesn't play in Mason any more, he's waaay too talented to be dragged down by that gimmicky faggot.

  • @Likeyoucare That's funny! I don't mind SOME of Manson's stuff, but I generally agree with you. I'm a musician, and I told my nephew that I have to continually discipline myself to not dismiss a player with whom I'm not familiar just because of his band affiliation. I'm open-minded, but that's a tough one. I was trying to recall where I'd heard of John5 when I saw and clicked on a sidebar photo the other day, then I remembered. I was astounded. I'd never investigated him. Prejudice.

  • He is really awesome and versatile!

  • what was it like when you first started ? around the 6 month time, man to get to your level !! was the first year hard? would like to hear a little about that! what can i say your very damn good! with a brain too

    cheers!

  • JOE 4 SUCK MY COCK

  • If I could do that whatever the hell happens at 0:28 I could just die right now for all I care, since my life would be complete

  • for some reason i could see him taking zakk wylde's spot in ozzy's band..anybody

agree? i could see him laying down a slick version of crazy train or paranoid..

  • @shagger67 You mean Gus G"s spot? Yeah, i could see him in Ozzy's band, he'd be fucking killer.

  • The squeal at the beginning of the video where he uses the string behind the nut for vibrato....how the fuck did he do that? It doesn't even sound like a pinch, if it is I've gotta practice more

  • @theshawz Open string pinch harmonic, and he's just doing an extreme bend behind the nut. Looks killer, sounds killer, easy as pie. Just gotta have some light gauge strings or be tuned down low, so you have the slack to really raise the pitch to an extreme.

  • The squeal at the beginning of the video where he uses the string behind the nut for vibrato....how the fuck did he do that? It doesn't even sound like a pinch

  • @theshawz it looked like he just did a pinch harmonic, and then did a vibrato behind the nut. maybe he used effects

  • HE LOOKS LIKE A SLIGHTLY SKINNIER WILL FERREL

  • @TheRatchetkid Mixed with Kat Von D.

  • @TheRatchetkid yo umean chad smith

  • awesome guitarist

  • Im starting to doubt his talent now. I mean, yeah, he can play. He can physically play, but he always plays the same licks in every video. You never see anything original. Its all stuff from his songs..

  • @superterrorizer666 Not quite sure what talent you have to judge John5. He is by far one of the better guitar players out there. He is just a little strange. But very talented. As far as the same licks. Have you listened to more then one song? I didnt think so. When God told me to comes out you will need to check it out.

  • I love that he's so good at, and fully appreciates Shredding, Country, Jazz, Swing, Blues, etc. Seems like a really cool guy also.

  • ehhh at lest he trys !

  • he even makes a clean tone sound good.

  • Comment removed

  • he is cute

  • 3:02 sounded badass with a clean sound!

  • He is a cool guitar player but I remember seeing his Laney ads in the old guitar world magazines when he was playing for K.D. Lang at the time and tried like hell to look just like Kurt Cobain. I'm talking a green striped sweater and messy blonde hair the whole nine.

It kind of makes you think that the guy tries way too hard to look part and it takes away from his credibility as a musician which is too bad because he's such a phenomenal guitarist. Oh and I want that fuckin tele!!!!

  • tapping on my A.....HA!!

  • I hope Manson at least sucked your dick to get you in his band. At least you got into the limelite playing for that talentless pop idol.

  • John-5 is the best shredder in my books. And his style is fucking awesome!

  • Hes telecaster is beautiful

  • Damn,he's nuts.Very cool style,it is good to see a guy like this after all these boring shred videos.

  • "when you walk into guitar center and you see the same (plays erution like its easy.) but then you see all these different kind of styles of playing like (crazy countryish lick like its nothing)" i do believe god blessed his fingers

  • God damn thats a hard riff to play right

  • That's a really interesting sounding lick, and that dive-bomb sounding harmonic he did by bending behind the nut, I'm trying that until I get it right.

  • @Shmucko21 Your opinion does not add anything, I can not understand how people like you are watching this video. Create an account on youtube just to talk about what you do not like, HAHAHAHA. THING OF LOSER.

  • Comment removed

  • @Shmucko21 Shut your fucking mouth, probably because it talk not heard of it or an album. YOU LOSER!

  • @18990futilidades I don't need to listen to an album to determine the skill of a guitar player. The true player comes out when playing live. Most of the videos i've seen of this guy play childish crap that just not impressive at all. He's just mediocre and every style he plays. He even plays a Paul Gilbert lick, just because hes famous doesn't mean hes good. Just look a Synyster gates or whatever the fuck his name is.God what a facepalm.

  • Man this guy is garbage, what does anyone see in him?

  • @Shmucko21 garbage? he's a pretty good guitar player! O_o

  • oh woah! string-bed behind nut and SQUEALIE! some sorta non-flody rose dive bomb! i never seen this made from anybody before! insane and genious!

  • i actually like this lick alot more when played on the clean channel

  • Well Mr. 5, it seems your pickguard might be a bit fingerprinty there. awesome video, and great player.

  • This is a good enough reason for me to start buying Guitar World mags again. haha

  • ok i love john, but has anyone noticed that wenever he gives a lesson on techniques, its not a improv thing its always from one of his songs, come on jjohn mix it up we all know all ur songs

  • hes gotta get so much pune

  • lolol hes got steve vais attitude song in there :)

  • de los mejores de toda la historia

  • 1:25-1:27 Guys, must thumbs up for that...

  • He challenge Gatton,on what is possible on a Tele. They are so different in style, but both so great.

  • Nice, makes me want to practice

  • He's awesome lol

  • whats the song playing from 0:00 - 0:10 ?

  • A lot guitar players are loser assholes. just look at the comments here. It seems that most of the good ones that "make it" are not. They have people skills as well as guitar chops. so..work harder and be nice and respectful and maybe guitar world will want to have you teach a lesson someday after you "make it"

  • Anyone that actually tries to use "your just jealous that he's famous", or "he can play better then you! lol", is just fucking sad. Like, it's physically impossible to genuinely dislike someone if they're better than you at something, or famous for anything at all.

I dislike him. He is far from the first musician to like different styles of music, and the fact that he' son Youtube in fucking 2011 talking like he is the first is just ridiculous.

And he dresses like a tool.

  • @Socioistic ... why would you watch his video of you dont like him? Troll much?

  • Allen Coates/ Broken Man.....First youtube video. Pretty cool, check it out! Thanks!

  • I just wanna learn the intro song...

  • I love john 5, but they no doubt sped 0:22-0:24 up

    you could tell

  • @redghost105 I agree

  • i came

  • What pedal is he using in this videos?

  • @RoyTheRockZ lol

  • Werewolf of westeria im pretty sure?

  • the description said series of lessons, anywhere I can buy the lessons on like a dvd or something

  • LOVE how he thinks and plays outside the box, I'de like to sit with him for a lesson. He forgot more than I'll ever know, very taseful under~rated player !!

  • its...JOHN MOTHER FUCKING 5 BRO. thats what he should have said in the beginning of this video

  • So that beginning didn't need to be there

  • Yeah, I think you can do it w/ the clean sound, lol. This guy is so underrated.

  • fuck -__________-

  • John 5 Exclusive Guitar world Lesson !

    Loving the instructional videos

  • This man is... so talented D:

  • I think I must've been the only person to laugh when he said he's tapping his A with his right hand :-/

  • @MilesTodd I laughed at that too xD

  • he should wash off the camera guy`s cum stain off his pickgurad..its filthy as hell lol

  • @FlyinVJs30RR notice all his fenders all have the same pickguard?note there all standerd fenders but he dosent clean ANY of them

  • @Asking1234Alexandria yeah man ive been wondering the same thing ages now lol just one wipe would do man lol

  • @FlyinVJs30RR hahaha well im not gonna complain because he's WAY better than me haha

  • @FlyinVJs30RR haha me too! hahah

  • OOOoooo .....freaking awesome :D

  • "Open your eyes and open your ears to new styles" -- the best advice ever. For example, flamenco players are some excellent guitarists.

Anyway, John 5 is a damn good guitarist and instructor

  • It's a fucking good lick :D

  • i like mine(guitar) a bit better its a '72 vos painted hot pink

  • I love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful fire place!!!!

  • @eimsbueddel wrong again. he obviously uses many different styles and ur just to uptight to realize that. and jealous because ur not as famous as he is. nough said.

  • @eimsbueddel im pretty sure spanish music and country dont qualify under the shredding catagory.

  • @qu7aker BULLSHIT!!! Have you ever listened to spanish classical on the guitar?!? That shit's HARD.

  • @hooplablahblahblah what i meant is straight up metal shredding. i know spanish classical is advanced. i play it lol

  • @qu7aker Ah! Mucho respecto, senor(ita... I don't know lol) Try taking some of those licks with some overdrive. Its pretty heavy :)

  • @hooplablahblahblah will do! thnx 4 the advice :)

  • @hooplablahblahblah, have you ever actually played Spanish classical on the guitar? Because I can tell you for a fact it's a lot harder to play than listen to ;)

  • @shred5 I have. In fact I am right now. I'm actually pretty decent at it.

  • @hooplablahblahblah nice :)

  • @shred5 It was one of the styles of music that actually infulenced me to pick up the guitar. That and the blues :)

  • @eimsbueddel lmao i never said that my child. all i said is ur making fun of him for how he looks and yet... he can smoke u and most of us in guitar any day :)

  • WHAT'S THE SONG IN THE BEGINNING?

  • "and that's what inspired me to try different styles" *plays metal riff*

  • Woow hes amazing!

  • @eimsbueddel hes a better guitar player then u mate! so i wouldnt complain on what he dresses like.

  • @qu7aker Now I gotta go find his stupid comment. Thanks lame upvoters.

  • @Tipsynova lol srry he said "this guy dresses like an idiot"

  • @eimsbueddel he's a beast tho. i saw him live at mayhem with rob zombie on his birthday and he was awesome

  • is that a fetus behing him?????

  • @eimsbueddel

Forget the looks,I'm a very conservative looking guy but if this is what turns him on so be it and why should it bother you- pay attention to his guitar lesson-his knowledge is extensive.

  • @onthemoveagain I agree, who cares about looks as he is obviously a very VERSATILE and WELL ROUNDED MUSICIAN!!!!!!!!

  • i think he sounds boring when its just him but he kicks ASS with a backing track

  • @eimsbueddel You're never too old to be a master shredder

  • One of the two people on earth who can make a telecaster Metal, the other is of course Jim Root

  • @MrNeosantana Don't forget Jari Mäenpää of Wintersun.

  • @TFIFH I don't list people I've never heard play

  • @MrNeosantana I highly recommend you to check the man out. He's a real sweeping machine.
