This was hilarious. But Yu Na is amazing no matter what. She is technically artistic, and graceful. Her performances are always stunning and consistently strong. She inspires me personally. This guy, was exactly like me when I watched her skate. x) YU NA FTW! :)
@ramix2006 ramix2006 = Crazy Japanese who posts "Yuna's score is fixed" on almost every video of her...... WHAT A CRAZY JAPANESE HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAA... Would you be saying the same thing about her if she were Japanese? I wouldn't think so.
@Sarah01181225 no. her program was good and fine. it's a gold medal performance, but many of us didn't expect her score to be that high, especially for a girl. most of the score she gains is not only jumps and presentation, but how she executed her jumps. the judges gave too much on the GOE's. if you look at her short and long at worlds this year, you can tell her scores were inflated. with her score she beats some guys in the olympics.
@fanboys7 At Olympics, judges have tendency to give more points than other competition. Look at Mao. She did perform way better at Worlds but she got less points than Olympics.
You should've read an article written by a British guy who analyzed Yuna's jump/tech/artistry as a figure skater. I could understand why ISU judges gave such score in LP to her at the Olympics after reading his analysis.
@fanboys7 Yuna said honestly she expected 140 in LP. Yuna's coach expected 142ish. She got 150.
Yuna was very exhausted at 2010 Worlds. She refused to go/refused to attend. No Gold medalist attends Worlds after Olympic was over. She went there without any preparation. So she lacked zeal & passion at Worlds. But at the Olympics, definately those were her nights.
@fanboys7 This is what CTV reporter said after her SP at Olympics.
"GOLD: Kim Yu-Na was devastatingly good. Kim was Sonja Henie, Barbara Ann Scott, and Katarina Witt all rolled into one: unbeatable. From the moment she rolled her head from the opening pose, Kim was sensational. The 78.30 technical score that she earned was roughly the same as the total score attained by the skater who placed 24th."
@fanboys7 ".....continued: The only woman to even attempt a triple Lutz- triple toe loop combination in the competition, Kim earned 12 points for that move alone. Her presentation score was about five points more than her rival, Mao Asada's."
@Sarah01181225 as i said her program was fine, definitely a gold medal performance. her jumps were fine, but i even skaters know that her 33 GOE was too much. her total GOE she gained was bigger than lysacek.
@fanboys7 Hum, The british reporter actually mentioned Yuna should not compete with female figure skaters as she has no contender among ladies. It was actually compliment on Yuna.
@fanboys7 And except Japanese who couldn't accept the Olympic result, you are the first one who says Yuna's Olympic performance was just fine. Here is a news flash for you. IT WAS THE BEST OF THE BEST OF ALL TIME!!
Katarina Witt, 2 time Olympic Champion even said to German broadcast she was lucky not to be born with same generation as Yuna. She was one of ISU judges and she DID standing ovation after Yuna's LP was over.
@Sarah01181225 It is understandable that she was on an olympic hangover, but seriously, she missed 3 elements on the short. and she got a 60. which btw is a great score for a tiring short. and she fell once and popped her axel on her long, including wrong edge on flip. and got 133. which is a high score don't you think? think about it, if you skate like Yuna Kim, with one popped jump and one fall in a skating competition, will you get 133?
@fanboys7 Are you talking about 2010 Worlds? LP points were 130, not 133. 1 point higher than Mao.
I don' think judges look at how often skaters fall.
At Olympics, Mao's 3A-2L(?) had downgrade because she did not jump perfect and she missed number of spinning. Experts sometimes say missing number of spinning is same as falling. So look at the whole picture. Tech & artistry.
@Sarah01181225 yes just like worlds. skate like her at worlds and maybe get 133. all those experts who say the jump counts if it's only 1/4 turn and you get full credit is wrong. if a jump is underrotated by a 1/4 it will count as a triple, but you will lose more points. Mao asada's 3a was counted because it was 1/8 of a turn which is not really cheated.falling is the least of the skater's problems. yeah Kim's the best right now in olympic history.
haha i told my mom she should watch this and she oh this came out on korean television news! lol. apparently all older koreans have seen this before us younger korean americans. this guy is great!
Wow, can you asses take this debate elsewhere? I mean, there's this grown man in his underwear cheering skating... THAT IS FUNNY. I'm pretty sure his intention was to make ppl laugh, not provide an opportunity for internet jocks piss all over his comments
I am a great fan of YU-NA. Please, please DO NOT post any more your thought regarding her name. Honestly who would care about how they spell? Besides, YUNA would be even better than Yu-Na because it is simpler and easy to remember. We all just love to enjoy watching her magnificent performance. Anyway she is known as Yu-Na to figure skating fans all over the world.

"But Chinese, Korean, Thai and Vietnamese names and Japanese names of historical figures are usually left in East Asian order; for instance, Máo Zédōng is known as Mao Zedong in English."
I know wikipedia may not be the best source to cite from, but here you go:
"Japanese names of contemporary individuals and Hungarian names are usually "switched" when individuals who have such names are mentioned in media in Western countries; for example, Koizumi Jun'ichirō is known as Junichiro Koizumi in English, and Puskás Ferenc is known as Ferenc Puskás."

I don't care about the history of the last name "Kim" I never mentioned anything about it.
I only asked that her name be spelled in the proper sequence which is given name first, surname last, when showing to North American audience as to avoid confusion.
Why is it that Yuna always has her name spelled "Kim Yuna" but Mao Asada always has hers spelled correctly "Mao Asada" ?
It's your name, we believe you deserve to have your name in "the proper sequence", and the the proper sequence means the original way that you have in your culture.
What on earth you're saying "It's Yuna Kim" so surely?!? Just ridiculous!!
As long as she's Korean, Kim Yuna is the proper sequence to put down her name.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Are you retarded? The proper sequence in North America IS Yuna Kim. Guess where we are? North America. So then tell me why is Mao Asada always said, Mao Asada and not "Asada-san", why don't they write 김연아 on the scoreboard?
People like you are the reason why there's so much confusion over her name and think her first name is Kim and her last name is Yu-Na.
As long as shes in North America, put down her North American name. Yuna Kim.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
She has a North American name people refer her to. Yuna Kim. She lives in Canada.
You still haven't answered any of my questions or even replied properly to what i posted. Read the first paragraph more thoroughly and reply accordingly instead of just repeating yourself like a parrot.
If you want korean peoples name to be completely cultural why aren't we writing her name 김연아? That's her cultural korean name. If everyone has to respect it then thats how it should be written.
.. I know that's he name. Yuna Kim. Just like you said. Her North American name should be pronounced in North American fashion as to not confuse North Americans. Why is Yuna Kim the only one victim of this and not Mao Asada? Everyone says Mao Asada "Mao Asada" and not Asada Mao.
no i meant you said "yuna kim is her name she lives in canada"...you just repeating only this. so you look like parrot to me not the other one. and what victim? to me, asad mao is the victim cause north americans dont know whats her real name in her country. and because of ppl like you, they dont have even a chance to know about asad's name...im good with that, but i wish ppl get to know more about yuna including her name.
Saying such an absurd thing (ask North Americans to write her name as 김연아) shows you just don't have a clue of "respecting other's culture"; that doesn't mean you have to completely use it, you can adopt it in your own way, and still respect it at the same time.
I believe that's why some North American media started indicating her name as Kim Yuna rather than their familiar way Yuna Kim.
They're trying to respect Yuna's cultural background.
I think I made my point very clear and you just don't wanna admit that you've been completely arrogant over Korean culture by telling people from all over the world here on the MULTINATIONAL WEBSITE that her names proper sequence is "Yuna Kim" not Kim Yuna, because that's how you call her in North America.
I give my point in one sentence for you AGAIN.
Wherever in the world, her name's "proper sequence" will be Kim Yuna as long as she's Korean and it's a proper noun; her NAME.
I didn't even usually care how they spell or call her name abroad, because most people don't know those details and still they all know those names pointing the same one; Queen Yuna.
Even with knowing the correct order, it's ok to call her as Yuna Kim personally, if you simply feel comfortable with it.
But at least, you shouldn't have exclaimed that the proper sequence of her name is Yuna Kim because North Americans call her that way.
You've wrote a 3 full comments stating the exact same thing you did in the first post. You haven't answered ANY of my questions.
You either go one way or the other. You can't say "respect her culture" then contradict it by not doing it the way Korean's would. By respecting ones culture it would mean doing it the way koreans would. There's no such thing as "semi respecting" it.
yet you still haven't answered this. Why isnt Mao Asada spelled Asada Mao, or why don't they call her Asada-chan?
No the "media" hasn't learned. Infact, a lot of the Media think her name is Kim, and her last name is Yuna. You can tell by how they say Kim Yuna, and Mao Asada. They know Mao is Mao's first name, and they think Kim is Yuna's first name.
And it's partly because of people like you who constantly say her name the Asian way instead of the North American way. Yet all other Asian skaters you say it their North American way.
Again you try avoiding my question again and again while repeating the same things over and over.
Stop saying the whole excuse "im spelling her name like this because its the KOREAN WAY!!" No, the Korean way of spelling Yuna's name is 김연아. The North American way is Yuna Kim. Go one way or the other.
Again answer this (try not to avoid it this time) Why is it that only "Kim Yu-Na" get's that special treatment? Why not Mao Asada? Or Cao Zhen? Or Midori Ito?
According to Figure skating experts & several previous Gold Medalists, the reason Yuna Kim gets special treatment is because SHE upgraded women's figure skating to one level up in terms of the whole package. The whole package means not only technicial way but also speed & quality. In one word, she brought freshness to women's figure skating world as well as level upgrading. I thought only SKoreans are excited for her but I noticed p/p around me they say there is no contest for her.
I have no idea why. But anchors pronounce Yuna Kim, rather than Kim Yuna. So I don't know why that is a big deal...Maybe we should ask Yuna Kim directly, hey?
@seaflow338 From next time don't comment on something that I wrote for like....2 months ago. I don't remember under what circumstances I wrote the comments. Thanks
do you know many of your media indicate our presidents and politicians names in Korean way more often? Do you think your media saying that without knowing whats their familyname? they write, say it Lee Myung Bak, Roh Moo Hyun, Kim Dae Joongthey also call them president Mr. Lee/ Roh/ Kim. To me, it seems likethey know, and they say it that way to show some respect, dont they? So why not Yuna? as korean, many of your comment just...why dont you just quit it?!!
For the people who are confused with her name, just LET THEM LEARN by giving them a chance to learn. That's what we all are supposed to do toward other culture to respect it...but you're just cutting the chance.
If they are interested enough, they will learn, like your media already did.
I wish I could enjoy her performance like you did. I feel like I'm her brother or something every time I watch her competition. I know it's stupid but I can't help it. Maybe I'm mesmerized. Thank you for showing how I should enjoy her show. Five stars.

Also I really want to add this:
I didn't even usually care how they spell or call her name abroad, because most people don't know those details and still they all know those names pointing the same one; Queen Yuna.
Even with knowing the correct order, it's ok to call her as Yuna Kim personally, if you simply feel comfortable with it.
But at least, you shouldn't have exclaimed that the proper sequence of her name is Yuna Kim because North Americans call her that way.
imalreadyadhole 2 years ago 5
You've wrote a 3 full comments stating the exact same thing you did in the first post. You haven't answered ANY of my questions.
You either go one way or the other. You can't say "respect her culture" then contradict it by not doing it the way Korean's would. By respecting ones culture it would mean doing it the way koreans would. There's no such thing as "semi respecting" it.
yet you still haven't answered this. Why isnt Mao Asada spelled Asada Mao, or why don't they call her Asada-chan?
rtc7788 2 years ago

Or Midori Ito?
rtc7788 2 years ago
@rtc7788
I thought only SKoreans are excited for her but I noticed p/p around me they say there is no contest for her.

...What? I don't see how that has anything to do with why only Yuna has her name spelled in the asian culture way yet other asian skaters don't.
rtc7788 1 year ago
@rtc778
Oh, that was your question?
I have no idea why. But anchors pronounce Yuna Kim, rather than Kim Yuna. So I don't know why that is a big deal...Maybe we should ask Yuna Kim directly, hey?
Sarah01181225 1 year ago 6

No.. in almost every event they say "Kim Yuna" instead of Yuna Kim. Then they say Mao Asada, Midori Ito, Zhao Hongbo, etc.

do you know many of your media indicate our presidents and politicians names in Korean way more often? Do you think your media saying that without knowing whats their familyname? they write, say it Lee Myung Bak, Roh Moo Hyun, Kim Dae Joongthey also call them president Mr. Lee/ Roh/ Kim. To me, it seems likethey know, and they say it that way to show some respect, dont they? So why not Yuna? as korean, many of your comment just...why dont you just quit it?!!
gmailhans2 2 years ago
@rtc7788 who cares?
TheRamstoss 1 year ago
For the people who are confused with her name, just LET THEM LEARN by giving them a chance to learn. That's what we all are supposed to do toward other culture to respect it...but you're just cutting the chance.
If they are interested enough, they will learn, like your media already did.
