Then I did some snooping around and learned that Freddie was so ill at the time, they filmed the video in black and white to hid the physical abrasions and whatnot. It broke my heart to learn that.

He was diagnosed with HIV in 1987, I'm not sure when it got worse. Possibly around the early part of 1990. I don't know why he didn't like interviews. I think because they tend to focus on the interviewee's private life and not their work.
