what's up with the top right corner of that chair, kid? that shit caught on fire from them hot beats, huh? informational video, and nice toch with the cardboard box desk.
@Steveromig go into edit, preferences, general and choose empty rack or choose a file u want to use (that u might have already set up with empty instruments/effects that u normally use)
I need to know how to add the music to the track i've followed a tutorial to make a dubstep beat and i dont know how to add the music to listen to it. Someone help me please.
@EdxModding Well, all you have to do is press the record button (the red button on the transport bar on the bottom of the screen) and then play your notes, hit stop when you're done and presto.
Also, keep in mind that you have to select the track before playing, otherwise you may record in a track you don't want to record in, or none at all.
In a new project (only mixer in the racks), when I first add an instrument (default to mixer channel 1) and then an effect, the effect is linked with my instrument by default. Where and how can i CHOOSE on what instrument (mixer channel) I want a certain effect to be? thx
i was wondering how do you use the keyboard on the computer...an how do you get sound from the other sequnces its killing me first tyme using reason an its a fucking headache i usaully use fruity loops trying to upgrade my self
Hi, does anyone know where or how you can create your own personal sund ... ie dj ... or producer usually use their label name such as red one or convict music ... thanks alot
hey griffinavid, im a new user of reason and in the version im using there is no effects synthesizer toolbar or whatever that is to the right of everything your doing and i was just wondering how i could access that. thanks
Hey thanks so much for this video. I look forward to checking out more about reason as I'm just learning the software. This video really breaks it down for me. Thanks.
@Ponjoe15 yes, u can draw notes in the sequencer and use the drum machine, or an easier way if u want is use the matrix sequencer with any synth and create loops real easy
reason lack alot of features such as a wave editing\ wave placing on sequencer and limited amount of tools. you cant record a hardware tool such as a synth or a drum machine that sounds 5 times better than reason's even if you have the best soundcard in the world.
I can add only 1 instrument, when I add more instruments then the ''hardware device'' doesn't recognize them, it only shows red lights beneath the slots I connected them,
nah bro just click ur instrument on the sequencer n then click on the switch 2 edit button n then click on the pencil button n then u just click the note you want
do i need a usb keyboard to use with reason?..or can i just use the keyboard on the computer to make notes?? if i need some keyboard like that he is using..can someone tell me whats the best and cheap keyboard on the market and price..so i can get one...just loving reason ...
You can create your own editable .rex "reason" files by using Propellerheads software Recycle. It allows you to convert all .wav files to .rex files which you can then easily import using the Dr. Rex synthasizer...so you can "start from scratch". Hope this helps. :) --SlayerX--
i need help with reason, i just bought a m-audio keyrig 49 midi keyboard, and i got reason 4, and when i record some thing right the levels of what i record arnt the same how can i change them, or do something so it always stays the same...
It'd really be nice to just "start from scratch" instead of picking loops and modifying it, i'd really like to see someone start from a REAL SCRATCH SESSION.
It should be possible. But then you'll need a MIDI guitar. Not just a guitar. (actually same for keyboard. Your keyboard needs to have MIDI in order for it to work with Reason).
How do I take that snap to grid off? it'z kind of annoyin'. This never was on Reason 3. When I'm tryin' to put a note on, everytime I do it makes a space of where I can put my note. o.O
Could someone give me some advice. I started listening to electronic music a year ago and I am thinking of making my own music. Could someone tell me what the difference between all these different pieces of software such as; Cakewalk, Reason 4, the Roland software, Sony Acid and Pro Tools. Also what do the professionals use.
I'd recommend FL studio. I personally haven't used Reason But I do own the full version of FL. It's great for Electronica and techno type music, it has a lot of synths and I just think it has better service/ value than Reason. Image-line has a big variety of synthesizers to buy and XXL edition comes with a lot of them. It's 400 dollars average for the XXL package I think. I use it and I've never been unable to find or make the sound I need. Hope this helps.
Ive only really just started getting into sound recording, and im actually more into recording guitars and such than electronic music, but i can tell you, Pro Tools is pretty much the standard for sound and midi, and alot of professionals do use it. Reason 4 is basically just for midi, Cakewalk is a toned down easier to use DAW like Pro Tools, Sony Acid is almost the same but is based more on looping and things like that. And as for the Roland software, there isnt much i can tell you for that.
No, its not really the industry standard, DAW software doesnt really have one, but if it does, that'd be Cuebase by Steinburg. No, most DJ's use other software, probably FLStudio by Image-Line.
i don;t have one of them keyboards... does that mean i can't use reason? i do have a normal keyboard but don't know if i can connect that to my computer guess not it's pretty old.
You don't need a keyboard to use reason, but it helps when you're trying to make a melody. You need to look for a midi keyboard, they simply plug in to your computer. You could probably get a cheap one from ebay.
Costlier midi keyboards have buttons and sliders etc on them which can do things like mess with the pitch of a sound and so on, so get one of them if you're used to Reason.
it costed me a good 400 dollars for reason 4 i jus began with it, my patna bout to let me borrow the reason dvd so once i understand this its alllll good..but thats a great basic clip thanks
everyone whos confused... just get a korg pad kontrol and you'l lbe set.. i finally got 4 today and its sweet .. i had the adapted version which is just the sounds that come with the pad kontrol when you first get it..
Ok I know a professional he has been playing more then 30 years... He finally got a mac and he said Garageband is better then the 500 dollar Logic Pro or Logic Express he said Garageband is the best and he will never have to use an instrument to record again.. he will still play but not record..
well, it depends in what you want to do. FL is easier to use, but it's for amateur use mostly. Reason is much more complicated but this software is totally pro.
a tip for any amature producers here, although it costs a bomb, using 2 programs in conjunction can really improve your production skills, i use logic 8 and reason 4, reason for the basic patterns, synths etc and logic for effects and mastering.
because when you can use those hard complex programs, you can write better songs numbnuts.
you could of probably worked that one out yourself.
and although reason has alot of stuff to cover, id say its one of the more easy to use programs. The virtual rack makes everything so easy. try using logic pro 8 and see if you can even make a simple sawtooth trance synth that didnt start life as a preset.
one thing is u need a keyboard and all that bullshit im professional and i dont have a keyboard reason hmm idk cuz i dont like having to spend 0385308503 years making a beat fl studio comes out as better when u think about it the quickest way to lay down your ideas is fl studio and ableton live idk its opinions but i know fl studio is the quickest way to lay down ideas
It isn't for one BIG reason, Reason is HARD to use. If you don't have a keyboard, then you can't use it. Plus, sticking samples in reason isn't easy, you have to convert it into a rex first , or use redrum( wont cut samples right).

How can i upload a file or mp3 into Reason ?? does any one know ??
kidlost8 3 years ago
You cant load mp3 in Reason...it has to be a wav file..then you can load into NXT as sample.hope that helps.

If you convert your mp3 back into WAV format(or AIFF if you use a mac)...you can then load your file into the NXT sampler.hope that helps

can i use this as a DAW?

You lot should STFU
Seriously, have you only just been able to afford a Mac and Logic?? Reading these replies it sounds like a typical fucking noob being the big man.
Logic is great and if you can't see the merits of what Reason can also do then you must be thick as shit. This is coming from a longterm Logic user

Can anybody tell me how to separate the music's vocal from the music for other usages? Because I'd like to make a new from an original song.
debreczeni99 3 years ago
You can't really. Every producer dreams of a program that could. Find an acapella somewhere. Or use the original and fit it in a new style..
