  • OK I found a snippet of this footage in the new Robert Forsyth book from Osprey (Who's title is, cleverly enough: "Luftwaffe Viermot Aces-1942-45); according to him, this head on attack was carried out by a Me/BF 110 with I/ZG26; the large black puffs are from the explosions of the 21cm Wgr rocket mortar that was fired before it closed to gun range.

  • @nickmitsialis Thank you sir, I'll put that in the description.

  • @Doum92 Glad to help but all praise should go to Mr. Forsyth & his book.

  • I THINK US AMericans fought on the Wrong side

  • Lol at the idiot that think this video is fake, this video is pretty well known...The flashes on the B-17 are bullet impacts and that's basically how it truly looks.

  • @mitrooper those aren't bullet explosions or holes , those flashes come from a 20mm cannon . FUKK A GERMAN THO

  • @BuBzIeNYNY Germans are tenacious , smart men , and ww2 truly showed this. This coming from an American

  • you can say what ever you want about the b-24 i believe it was a great aircraft the b-24 didn't have as much protection but it could penetrate further into enemy territory in was faster it carried more bombs it was fuel efficient i mean come on what more can want from it sometimes you just gotta sacrifice some things for others that's y the b-24 was so as u would say vunerable but it could still take hits

  • I thought the flak packed off when the fighters were engaged with the bombers

  • @AdrianDotis thats what i thought , but it seems there is flak explosions

  • I can't imagine what it must have been like for the bomber pilots flying in formation seeing those tracer bullets coming at them. Terrifying.

  • @chrisrogerrabbit exactly - those are minegeschloss rounds exploding and that's what it looks like.

  • I do not like watching snuff movies. These maybe old, B&W but you are watching guys barely out of their teens fighting and passing away for freedom. These guys did not prance around in the air bombing ragheads. They did not lay around shooting heavy weapons at ragheads. They actually fought! fought hard and won. They did not have "a fucking date for withdrawl"

  • This Luftwaffe gun camera film was likely from 1943-early 1944. B-17F's shown with no chin turrets. Cruise speed in formation was approx. 175 mph. Luftwaffe fighters attacked head-on en masse, broke and peeled around for another pass. Each firing pass lasted 2 to 3 seconds. Not counting reaction time, and if your guns didn't jam or freeze up, a defensive gunner had a 2 second window to return fire. No escort fighters came on to accompany the bombers until mid-1944.

  • no matter whats going on, if i see a genuine (raw) footage from war, i always just sit and watch with appreciation and respect

  • this been shot at by horst petchler...

  • lol @ stupid air defense guys firing flak into their own fighters. so much for proper battlefield communication.

  • Great shot of the black flak burst(s), and how big that thing really is at the end of the clip. Indifferent to both German & American in this case.

  • boom headshot

  • press 7 realy fast...looks like a DICK

  • This actual gun camera footage recovered at the end of WW II by US Army Intelligence from Luftwaffe sources. Probably taken in 1943, before the USAAF had B-17G's in frontline service with their chin turrets to help ward off frontal attacks.

Luftwaffe squadrons would typically swing around from aside the bomber formations and make a mass frontal attack, where thebombers were most vulnerable. Given the closing speeds, the attack usually was over in 3 to 5 seconds. Then they'd repeat.

  • @madcitymcflyer You got that right. The best way for a Luftwaffe pilot to kill a B-17 WAS to attack head-on. Given that the combined closing speeds of the 2 a/c would be around 6-700mph (350 for the 17 & 400+ for the German est.), you'd have @ 3 sec tops to aim, shoot, and break off. Still, to fly into that crossfire and your own flak took a good deal of nerve, which that German obviously had. Thanx.

  • @madcitymcflyer Maybe; That snippet in the Forsyth book clearly showed at least one of the B17s having a chin turret; the caption mentioned that footage took place 'Summer of 1944'

  • vid is not fake. nice headon pass. great hits percentage, some hit pilot's cabin, great rare vid. thanx for posting it.

  • fake video!

  • @Tomekwinxs fake post

  • @BadBunnyRides could be...

  • where can i find the full video ?

  • @AutumnPolitics Press F5

  • geez people it isnt Photoshoped! the Germans hade cameras on their planes to confirm their kill

  • Good..

  • ww2 was photoshoped

  • Noo great uncel ray i wish i knew you

  • @Junije1 Even reality is fake nowadays.

  • @Doum92 Jesus Christ You People DO Think Everything Is Photoshopped

    Where The Hell Trust Go?

  • @KoreanHero9001 Find the word ''sarcasm'' in a dictionary and understand its definition.

  • @Doum92 Oh, hold on. Let me get my text to voice infliction translator. Give me a second.

  • this is real you dumbfuck

  • @DaStampMASTA Take a chill pill dude....

  • @Junije1

those explosions are from flack cannons

  • @Junije1

    Your grandma is wrong, idiot..

  • @eselpopo Problem?

  • @Junije1

    Ahhhm, no!

  • @Junije1 Yes and the second world war is an invention of some historians who got bored ;)

  • @Junije1 How does this look photoshopped? Explosions can look different from one and another. No explosion is the same just like a zebra doesn't have the same stripes as another!

  • @Junije1 Why do you think they are all wrong?

  • @Junije1 Yup, the Nazis used Photoshop back in time. Oh man.. :o

  • if you look closely you can see a impact on the co-pilots side of the windshield....poor bastard took a 20mm right in the face...some of those rounds probably hit the navigator and bombadier station too....jesus...

  • @misfitfiend83 think that only each of 5th round were a tracer, if you see one flash there it means that this cockpit is full of holes

  • note he is attacking B17 right in the midddle of flak fire

  • No wonder why they call it the flying fortress

  • Holy fuck, what phenomenal footage! poor fucking pilots took a some serious shots!

  • Maaan, that German pilot had big balls !

Filmimg and fighting at the same time...

  • @VelvetViolator: ... maybe he was drinking a nice cool beer at the same time ... ;-)

  • @VelvetViolator they hade Cameras installed in their wings to confirm Their kills :) also the Germans invented Drones for night combat only 5 were made though in 1944 and 3 were shot down 2 others were captured when their control station was captured

  • Horst Petchzeller . B17 shoot down...I know I met him he told me.

  • That B17 took one or more shells right into the cockpit. God all mighty.

  • You can see the impact of the 20mm projectiles on the right (our left) inboard engine propeller and it momentarily stops the rotation. I would say that engine is dead!!

  • 09.05.1945

  • Someone's granpa might just had his head blown up by 20mm cannon fire... :(

  • Never thought Luftwaffe fighters would fly into their own flak......

  • @FiveCentsPlease after smelling tons of burned civilian flesh most pilots did even more....i just mention liquid streets..due to heat of firestorms....

  • FAKEE :D

  • @8TeamSlayer8

    Trottel!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Jokerboy831 SarcassmM!!!u are trottel :-)

  • @8TeamSlayer8 not fake, dumb fuck.

  • @th3sp0rk Fucking sherlock :D::DD never heard of sarcasm? idiot

  • @metivs You're right about Jesse Owens, he even said that it wasn't Hitler that 'snubbed him' (as the US press claimed) but that it was FDR that snubbed him, as he didn't even bother to send him a telegram, etc, congratulating him.

  • @metivs Sorry.. typed out the wrong sn. Still, you can read my comments below.

  • @metvis The only other nation that could be blamed for initiating the war is Japan, since it had been meddling in China since 1931, with all out war coming in '37.

I can't wait to hear what else you have to say, so please, lay it on me.

  • @pursuinginsanity yes! i totally agree with you on this

  • @metvis "Judea" declaring war on Germany hardly constitutes a world war, wouldn't you say? Even if you give credit to propaganda.. The ww was indeed initiated by Germany. It had been given much leeway in expansion in Central Europe, and the rest of the world wasn't going to stand by while it's slowly conquered. Even the Nazis claimed the Bromberg event happened after the outbreak of war, so it's ironic that you see it as justification. Your POV is comical at best.

  • thats crazy amazing!!!

  • @jrwel14 I will agree with you fully that Germany started WW2, but please. Don't spread the myth that they started the Great War. It simply isn't true. This very myth is the spark that ignited the second World War after all. It's ridiculous to say that Germany started the first, for the simple fact(s) that they didn't assasinate Franz Ferdinan, and neither did they declare war on Serbia. The Great War was initiated by Austria and Serbia, period.

    I Lol'd @ "faked."

  • @pursuinginsanity

"Germany started WW2" ??? could you pls react on thumbnails from DAILY EXPRESS from 24th March 1933: "JUDEA DECLARES WAR TO GERMANY"? (use this phrase in google pls). What made "them" to launch the war against Germany? What should have been answer of Germans to Bromberg massacre in spring 1939 in Poland? pls be objective when you judge.

  • RIP, poor fellows.

  • EVERY DUMBASS HERE WHO THINKS THIS IS FAKE THIS IS REAL FOOTAGE. in ww2 you couldn't mess around with the films they had. u didn't have movie maker or any of that

  • @DeutschwehR wow, it must really suck to be the only one that knows the 'truth' about anything. what's that like ? I think God already had his vengeance on Germany, which seems to me to be a really great country for the most part... but now being overrun by islam extremists like many European nations, and yet you turn a blind eye to them just like everyone else who's afraid of making them angry. Even Hitler is probably rolling in his grave

  • @DeutschwehR All the answers I need are in the photos my uncles came home with, and the truth that everyone else that was there saw with their own eyes. The only difference between you guys' version of genocide and that of Africa and the Middle East is the Nazis bit off way more than they could chew and kept too many records in the process. Deny it all you want, but the mountains of evidence left behind speaks otherwise.

  • @DeutschwehR Too funny, your nazi supermen couldnt trample each other fast enough to surrender to us instead of the russians. but, surely the history books and living witnesses must have that all wrong too, eh ? When you piss off the entire continent, bad things happen. All because of a delusional little drug addict otherwise known as Adolf Hitler. Want to blame someone for the destruction of Germany, you should start with him

  • @DeutschwehR maybe you should wait another 10-12 years to spew your denial bullshit, and then all the witnesses who lived through it will all be dead and the fools of the world might start believing you.

  • @DeutschwehR is the the shit they teach you in history class nowadays ? while your facts are a little off, yes...indians were killed/mudered in large numbers, mosty due to ignorant white settlers from Europe (go figure) ... but if this is what you have to resort to in order to justify the tens of millions of people who died because of your fascist ideology of muder and genocide.. then there's no point in talking to you anyway.

  • @DeutschwehR Germany started both wars. So, it's the hatred of Jews that pushes you. Thought I was just talking to someone who was just proud of his country. But, I find that I've been talking to a bigot, instead!

  • @DeutschwehR Have nothing against Germany. Have some of that so called Aryan blood myself. But, I,m not a Bigot. Or, a fool.Bombing of any town sucks. But, why don't you people EVER mention the tragedies of the allied cities? Only of yours?

  • @DeutschwehR In London, the actual goal, not the Nazi propaganda was to attacked the British people. You people speak so often about the firebombing of Desden But, you NEVER mention the first firebombing. Which was London. Also, Before the British bombed Germany. The Germans bombed Rotterdam. There Schools and Hospitals were damaged.

  • @DeutschwehR So, you're with Osamba Bin Laden? What about every bomb that you people dropped on Loundon and other Allied towns? You sound like the little boy who screamed, "Mommy, Susie kicked me!" Which his mother reied, "If, you don't want Susie to kick you. Then, don't kick her first!"

  • @jrwel14 Meant to type London.

  • @DeutschwehR I will check on it. But, as I said, you Nazis never reply to a killing of the non-Jews. You never will. Guess it's only the Killing of Jewish people you deny. Not the French of Oradour-Sur-Glane, the Greek town of Distomo, Dutch town of Putten, Czech town of Lidice, etc.

  • @DeutschwehR Why do you Neo-Nazis always deny the killing of the Jews, but not of the non-jews?when someone mentions towns like, Oradour-Sur-Glane, June 10, 1944, Tulle, Clermont-en-Argonne, Lidice, Distomo, Putten. (There are many more). You say nothing?

  • @DeutschwehR Ine problem America has is that we have people from about every country there is. Including many from Germany. During WW2, the Germans would go into a city like Warsaw. Execute or put in jail many of the townsfolk. The Americans and British? After the War, when the Russians blockaded Berlin. The Allies flew supplies into Berlin. WW2 Germany would never do that.

  • @DeutschwehR Your comment is that of a madman. Just like your Hitler!

  • @DeutschwehR Why do you Neo-nazis try so hard to deny the truth? Are you so ashamed of what the Nazis did in WW2. That, you don't want to be associtaed with it? Then, why not find someone else you can idolize? What about the French town of Oradour-Sur-Glane? You know the one. The one that was wiped out by your Waffen SS? Or, will you deny that, too?

  • @DeutschwehR your master race just really wasnt worth a crap when faced with armed opponents, lol. obviously, it was much easier for them to throw children into an oven than it was to stay alive when all the people you've pissed off decide to put you down like a rabid dog. the luftwaffe may not have operated the gas chambers, but still part of same regime and they got their just reward... being wiped from the skies.

  • @jimvaught

:-/ :-/ :-/ talking about master race... Jesse Owens, the US black athleet in Berlin in 1936 had till end of his life in his wallet photo of him and Adolf Hitler. He always talked about this period as best in his life. In Germany he was treated as a guest and recognized for his performance. The journalists were never interested in this story. It did not fit into mandatory picture of evil Germans. Back in the USA he was treated by your kind of "master race"... only truth. sorry

  • @DeutschwehR let me guess, hitler was your hero ? he and his happy band of psychotic murderers. fools like you are one more reason we should have nuked germany too. go back to your concentration camp and get a life

  • Caramba!!!!

  • Nazis used "Kamikazis" also...

  • @antonmagdovich not entirely true, they did consider a similar program and had a small number of voluteers.. but were too western in thinking to adopt the same suicidal tactics as the japanese. there was an idea of using 'deranged, depressed, or suicidal' pilots to enact such a thing, but it was ultimately called off by high command before anything became official

However, some units were trained to ram bombers from a certain angle and bail out

  • @antonmagdovich many accidents did happen though, at closing speeds of 450-600 mph in a head-on attack, or if either pilot were wounded.. mid air collisions happened all the time

  • Not fake. Mr willaumep is correct. The only thing he forgot to mention is that the footage was often shown to the public in Germany. In the same way pathay news showed footage of Germans being shot down.

  • at least i can speak another language moron!

  • he moron ww2 is over

now the usa does the invading of other countries

  • Hey moron, hey is spelled H-E-Y.

DO WE HAVE A GOOD REASON TO INVADE?

    moron.

  • @salvor1 Ha NO.

  • us americans are brave to fly over ENEMY skies like that! stupid germans...

  • or stupid?

  • yeah, those stupid Germans with their superior tanks, jet fighters, V1 cruise bombs, V2 ballistic missiles and all their rocket scientists like Werner von Braun and others who all ended up in the States after the war.

not to mention they made the first assault riflle and pioneered revolutionary war tactics which everybody else learned from

just because Hitler was a madman doesn't mean Germans are stupid

  • this attack from front was the only one that allowed the pilot to strafe German B17 without receiving a hail of bullets but only had a second to shoot and occasionally did not fall besides the bomber was dangerous because of risk of collision, I play really hard Il2 and overthrow of a single pass but is a game...

  • German B-17?

  • @salvor1

sure, the B29 was used in the pacific. This plane was a auntethic "fortress" with 8 cal 50. gun defensive and increible estructural resistance and the powerful motors, problably the best heavy bomber of the WW2

The move of the German pilot was necessarily reckless to bring down these monsters, in that corner of the cabin, for 1 second, it could pierce the cab and hopefully killing the pilot and copilot

  • @hermosotealonso

Actually as seen here there are no air support for these large boys so they are just sitting ducks for just about every air plane the germans had.. 2 or 3 passes and the motors would be cut lose, it would lose fuel or the wing would fall of.. They wasnt invulnrable actually far from it without the right air support..

  • get these bombers down!

  • What? Are you a nazi?

  • looking at the tracers..hope theupper turret, bombardier and co-pilot survived that..

  • no fake video, jesus christ you people think everything is faked no adays.

  • @galvenizedsteel no it.s not. good vid,

  • It is moving forward but the flak burst are not moving (like the B-17 is) so it looks like it takes longer to get to it retard.

  • LOL! I WAS around but too young to try anything.

  • 'standard' yes...but if those are bursting 'rocket mortars' or the situation calls for it(the LW WOULD attack in it's own flak zone if sometimes);

BUT IF you're saying that this is 'faked' using PC software well then...I remember this piece of film from documentaries in the 1960s...so it AIN'T Fake!

  • Comment removed

  • They did anyway.

  • gun cameras

  • Comment removed

  • How was this filmed ?

It looks like a stationary object filmed this from the sky.

Did you notice the airplanes flew under the camera?

I wouldn`t think a helicopter would just hang out hovering to film this while these airplanes are being shot at...LOL

  • I think the camera is zoomed in a fair way. , So it looks as if he ( the fighter ) is going slower then actually is

  • Sound good to me..

So most likely someone was in the tail gunner area of another bomber and using the zoom lens while filming...

    Great observation...

I was puzzled there for a minute...

    Thanks for exsplaining it..

  • This is a head on pass probably from a FW190.

Germans used plane mounted camera so that the film could be used for training purpose. It was usually mounted in the wing root close to the inside gun.

They did not use gun cam for victory confirmation.

The puffs of white smokes are 20mm minen impact.

    The black puff are Flack.

  • @willaumep From what i remember about seeing this gun camera action a few times i seem to remember that the footage is from a Bf110 G-2. Still great footage all the same though

  • I don't know if they were 20mm or not but his 3rd engine is toast. i wonder if he made it back?

  • Guys: ANY chance that the big black smoke bursts are not flak but those underwing rocket mortars that some LW fighters carried to 'break up' bomber formations?

  • A Zetsoreor (Destroyer) possibly, I didn't see a stream from it though.

  • Fair enough; flak WAS the first thing I thought of too, by the way but I thought they usually preferred to attack before and after the flak zones to avoid 'friendly fire' so I thought about the possibility of rocket mortars;

  • FLAK is Flugzeugabwehrkanone .. that is where the tem came from

  • man those flak were huge.

  • You haven't watched much of the History Channel, eh?

Plenty of opinion... not so much brain.

  • Hehe. True.

  • Ha!!

  • This gives a more realistic overview of the European Air War in WW2 than "Dogfights" on the History Channel does.

No US planes have ever been lost on the History Channel as far as I know.

  • those channels are notoriously biased

in fact all the top aces of the war were from Germany, and highest non-german ace was a Finn.

the top allied ace was a Russian

  • this guy was toast, head on machine gun assault. Good luck surviving that mr B17 pilot.

  • una hermosa toma de ataque frontal STURM

  • you can see those black buble clouds of flak...this fighter can be easy hit by hes own friends...

  • that's the way i would've done it! tried to hit the cockpit!

  • Comment removed

  • ...that's why the G model was equipped with the remote controlled nose turrent guns!

  • Yes stupit Bombergunners why dont shot back ?

  • That'd be some intence stuff to be in.

  • porrr pilots=( ! and why the b-17 grup dont shots back ?

  • Because B-17s don't have turrets that point upward, they were defenseless.

  • Not true there was a top turret gunner/flight engineer position.

  • Oh, sorry. Thanks for the info.

But following on that, why didn't the top-T gunners return fire in that case? Or wasn't there a large enough crew to man each station at once...

  • Some of the B-17's might have returned fire but the cameras angle doesn't show everything. One thing unusual in this video is the FLAK bursts.Fighters were not supposed to enter the FLAK (88mm and possibly 128 mm) areas at all. There were zones in which the fighters made the attack and then there were the FLAK designated areas.

  • Actually, I think I can spot some tracers coming from the center B-17, but it might just be the poor framerate playing tricks.

I suppose if it was a surprise bombing run, they might have had to deploy fighters into the FLAK as a last ditch effort.

    Interesting footage.

  • Attack from head on results in VERY high closure rates with the target---AND if done right, only the nose gun can get a clear shot. OF course the fighter is probably zinging through the formation too fast to be shot at accurately-AND only a pretty skilled pilot can carry out a head-on attack with any hope of hitting the target.

  • yea how di that generation go through such times. All those men are brave.

  • war sucks

  • That is cool

  • Wow, the German pilot aimed to the cockpit...

  • They where suppose to. Any pilot going after an enemy bomber aims for the cockpit to kill the pilots. The Brits did it to the German bombers attacking England, Japs did it to American B-29s and Americans did to to Jap Bombers in China.

  • I perfectly understand the logic, under a strictly military point of view it's much better to kill the pilots rather than waste ammo in a desperate effort to shoot a bomber down under heavy fire.

Yet still, killing pilots and gunners is horrible... but war has no rules, we know it.

  • i dind't want to be the pilot :|

  • that is think flak

  • The black poofs of smoke are flak, the tracers look to be 20mm shells. Judging by the spread I'm guessing this is being filmed from a FW-190A

  • I know I meant to say "Thick flack"
