I may only be part Irish, but at least I got to go there and see the land. In ten days I probably saw more of Ireland than a lot of Irish people. It was by far one of the most beautiful places I've seen in the world, and I've traveled quite a bit.
One thing being a scotch/irish southern mutt I've learned is that the Irish and southern born country folk of America are alike in many ways. Country music holds some root in Irish folk. Johnny Cash was a great musician who took inspiration from Irish folk played on the radio. Also both a southern and irish guy/gal can play a mean fiddle. Heres to a great country and great region!
i love how everyone wants to be irish and are so happy that they are like 20% makes me so proud to be 100% irish:D born and bread in tyrone!! thumbs up for our beautiful country<3
@exoTicHazarD Indeed! Even if I am from Greece, which is a very beautiful country too with nice people. The Irish-Scottish landscapes and culture look soooooo WONDERFUL so their people do(at least from those that I have met), You are open hearted! This is why I like you! I am plannig to visit Hibernia in the near future!
if you google Sion mills, my family made quality fabrics in Ireland and my family coat of arms traces my family name back to anglo saxons, most of my family is from irish roots, i.e my great great grandfather watched the Titanic launch from Belfast for the first time from the Harland and Wolf ship yard 100 years ago and this music reminds me of the heritage i have, also my grandad on my dads side and my nan on my mums side are irish.
I rarely tell anyone this, but I find so much comfort listening to Irish/Celtic folk music, it just makes me really happy, like the music literally lifts my spirit :D
my fathers parents came from Ireland and my mothers parents came from Scotland. so i'm Irish, Scottish and Dutch because we live in Holland and i was born there. I just love celtic music. My family always plays celtic jigs on party's and birthdays
oh come on, you don't have to be of some kind of lineage to see the beauty in this tune... or any tune... still, what the hell, i love their music and i am far from these lands. i just know good music when i hear it. and i believe many of us do.
I have a friend from Ireland and we talk all the time he tells me about their traditions and I tell him about mine ( I am full Cherokee) any way I think it is so beautiful to learn about the Irish thank you my friend..Aho
this is so lovely !! i am from greece and you know, lots of sun , and bouzouki etc etc etc but this is so amazing.....!! i really want to live in ireland right now!! with all the legends about pirates and fairies...!!
I'm marying an Irishwoman so my kids don't feel the shame of not being part-Irish. They'll instead get the shame of being part Lebanese, part Palestinian, and having no pride in my ethnic background, like me, especially since as a Christian, visiting my family there has become a real pain in the butt.
@MrTrentonimo The band playing this is called Altan. They are a magnidicent band that plays traditional Irish music. You could probably look them up on Pandora or GrooveShark and come up with plenty more like them.
My last name may be Saavedra but I have a great grandmother who is a Quinn her husband a villalobos but his great grandma was an Ahknbach (probably wrong spelling), suffice to say I am 100% American and I love the irish fiddle.
@Nimue0Ireland Wow this is sooooo cool I've just found out that I'm 30% IRISH. :)
XD LOL Lepra"corns". HAHA I now how to spell the real way of that word. Oh um... just asking but if I'm 30% Irish does that mean I'm Half Irish or not???
