  • I may only be part Irish, but at least I got to go there and see the land. In ten days I probably saw more of Ireland than a lot of Irish people. It was by far one of the most beautiful places I've seen in the world, and I've traveled quite a bit.

  • One thing being a scotch/irish southern mutt I've learned is that the Irish and southern born country folk of America are alike in many ways. Country music holds some root in Irish folk. Johnny Cash was a great musician who took inspiration from Irish folk played on the radio. Also both a southern and irish guy/gal can play a mean fiddle. Heres to a great country and great region!

  • I'm marying an Irishwoman so my kids don't feel the shame of not being part-Irish. They'll instead get the shame of being part Lebanese, part Palestinian, and having no pride in my ethnic background, like me, especially since as a Christian, visiting my family there has become a real pain in the butt.

  • I AM FULL IRISH :D *falls off chair*

I used to do Irish dancing but I left because the teacher kept shouting at me! :)

  • Off the wall comment question. Does anyone know a good place to research the Larkin name? I'm looking into my family name. Don't know much but find it interesting to look in to where I came from.

  • @MissLarkin40 I wonder the same about the Watson family name. I'm pretty sure we originated from Scotland, but my family swears up and down that we're from Ireland. I assume our family escaped English persecution in Scotland to Ireland, but after that, history is a blank. I think we were eventually enslaved and shipped overseas to the Americas by the English too. (Proclomation of 1625 by James II)

  • @kirby28645 So both John Watson and Sherlock Holmes were from Scotland?! Interesting . . . :) And Watson is such an Englishman, too . . .

  • @sparrowgirl25 Lol, that's true! Well, the Watsons spread out all over Europe and North America; England and Ireland were the two most common... for some obvious reasons. xD

  • Off the wall comment question. Does anyone know a good place to research the Larkin name? I'm looking into my family name. Don't know much but find it interesting to look in to where I came from.

  • Take a beer and drink it !!!!

  • Bahaha. I hate living in Northern Ireland after hearing this.

It sounds so jovial and Irish and then you come to Northern Ireland and it's just like a smaller crappier version of England. AYE D:

  • so truly brings warmth ta' me celtic heart :)

  • Yow!! Ah i feel like a jive X) Makes me full of irish pride!!

  • I heard that irish music was one of the best original things in america that arrived with the irish in the 19th century before all the overs came over and ruined half of america

  • YEAARRRGGGHH I BE POSTIN IN AN IRISH MUSIC VIDEO!!!

  • @godsloved3 irish....not a pirate -_-'

And doesn't it make you think of the 3rd class party in titanic??

Someone arrange one of those please? I wanna go to one =D

  • PLAY THAT FUCKIN FIDDLE! (taps foot)

  • I had been trying to escape the idea of being Irish. This makes me ashamed of my actions. Why try to escape something so beautiful.

  • ah, it feels great to hear this music while ime in the hospital, it makes me smile each time i hear the flute, or harp, fiddle all the other instruments just melding together in one lovely harmony

  • I love this genre of music. Speaks to my soul :) Love to play it. I'm partial to Viola fiddle music though, the higher it goes the more i run away lol o.0

  • Makes one proud of ones heritage.

  • Why do people always put a "Celtic" sticker on anything that's from Ireland?

If it was "Celtic", it would have to be from somewhere around 400 AD (latest) and I say I'd be pretty surprised to find someone then had written down the tunes, especially since the first writte-down tunes came into being during the Renaissance. And there's the factor of Celts not having any form of writing... I guess the flaming war will begin now, because someone will feel insulted again, like they always do...
