  • Now, where do i know this from?

  • @JanitorMaster one movie that i know that plays it is a documentary called "Man On Wire", ring any bells?

  • i enjoyed a lot your rendering! beautiful... great right hand, very expressive... tell me, would you consider doing the same thing but with a softier left hand? i was wondering what you could get with a bit less of lower notes. anyway, a great interpretation! thx!

  • @ubertin Thank you! I could imagine that I would play it even softer, today.

  • Danke! Sehr schön. Ich übe gerade dieses Stück. Es hilft mir!

  • wooww!!!! can you give me the sheet plzzzz i search everywhere for that song my whole lifeee!!! >< :(

  • hey guys

    this song is beautiful

    i made a mashup

of this song, wiz khalifa, and nujabes

please check out my channel and enjoy!

    ;)

  • Beautiful, what can I say ? This is a jewel from Piano Music

  • 素晴らしいです

  • Have a listen to my Satie's Gnossiennes if you get the chance, thanks.

  • a key or two out now and again but still nicely played well done.

  • Beautiful!!

  • Those noises were kinda creepy, but didn't really ruin the music.

  • beautiful!! 素敵です。

    自然と涙が出そうになります。

    感謝します。

  • very beautiful , as said before.

  • Brilliant :-) and Beautiful... where can I get the sheet music?

  • Very well :)

  • ehh sound quality is iffy, but really nice song. sounds almost like it coulda been in a zelda game lol

  • This strange "alien noise" which was discussed before doesn't exist in my second Gymnopedie-video where I just uploded this, again. But you are right, sound quality could be better, anyway.

  • I call Leder to the stand.

  • Dynamics.

  • you've got a noisy pedal.....

  • I know. Fortunately I have fixed it and in my later performances the pedal is quiet.

  • Hey what city are you from? you got an awesome view from your window. is that a tall building?

  • It's in Hamburg. The appartment is in the second floor though there is a nice view along the road. If you watch my video "Gnossienne nr.3" you can read a comment in which I describe my quarter.

  • brings back memories,

    sad memories

    of my parents

    when they broke up

  • Very spirited. Dark setting and reflection of the pianist add to the feeling...

  • such lovely music

  • I think is so beautiful !!

    Thanks

  • beautiful piano man, beautiful sound

  • beautiful! just in the right tempo!

  • love it

  • Beautiful!!

    I love it..

    you"re an excellent pianist.

    Congratulations!!

  • maybe we did but did not think we should be unkind and point it out?

    ;)

  • Une faute d'accord voire plusieurs d'ailleurs, certes !

  • Lovely playing and very expressive - thank you!

  • Perfect music for white nights. Thanks for the wonderful vid.

  • I loved the way you played this! Just emotive...

  • yeah ikr!!! its awesome but i hear thess weird beeps in the back lmao :))

  • lovely song

but what is that background noise i keep hearing?

  • It's the one mysterious thing about the video. I don't know. After lots of people were mentioning it I uploaded this recording, again and it wasn't there anymore. Please check that version out. I posted it as a video response.

  • thanks for pointing that out :)

    you're an amazing pianist

  • omg tutorial please?

  • i need help with this piece: tips on how to play chords like all in one sound instead of them being slightly different times? like each note of each chord? it sounds messy when i play it!! help!?

  • The sustain pedal... The problem is not to press it, but to know when let it go. It must sound smooth and not messy.... But all the pianists do that naturally, it's just hard to get when you start.

  • the key is to keep your fingers firm in the shape of the chord and to drop your hand onto the chord... its kind of hard to explain over youtube though

  • I think you mean that every finger touches the single key of the chord at the same time that there is no "clattering" to get a proper sound. That would be true.

  • Just wonderful. Loved it. Love how there isn't that convoluted development of the theme. It just goes straight into it.

  • Very good :) Where can I get an MP3 of this?

  • you can google youtube to mp3 conversion, there are plentyof sites that do it for free

  • Well played, very cool

  • semplicemente meravigliosa...accarezza l'anima e fa piangere

  • I enjoyed it!

  • I like this song a lot, and I've been wondering how can one play it with two hands only.. Now I can see that. Well, I still have a lot to learn. You play really well, mister.

  • do you have the sheet music online?

  • this is a masterpiece of minimalism.

it's comparable to Chopin and his complexity, but both can be as striking as each other in their own way.

  • Well said. Sounds you know a lot about classical music. Most people just wine about the video and never call any good points of the music/music player.

  • More like romantic music...

  • When the opinion is correct more like romantic music. Just for information: Satie broke away with every stilistic device that was used in romantic music: No rubato, no cresendos or no decresendos, no development, no dominant-tonics-connections. And in his essays he emphasizes that he declines all trends that go into the direction of neo-romanticism. So , at most, one could say, Chopin and Satie is comparable because they both have a very original and authentic sound in their music.

  • Dnt people like costructive critsism? ahh well,

  • AnnaNRaz07 is a fag that doesn't know music. This guy did good

  • lmao only advisin m0nnn

  • I love it! watching you play this piece makes me wanna learn piano :D

  • me too! this compose is the smoothest one to date

  • I like this song... very well!

  • You play Satie very well.

  • This song is a very good proof that it doesn't need a highly complex song to sound great. If you can use simple in the right way, you can create real masterpieces.

  • Quite well ! You should go on practicing...

  • You play this piece amazingly well. Cheers to you.

  • it's funny...Satie wanted his music to be like wallpaper; the ideal background music. Whether listened to singly or as background, Satie's work is great! Very fine playing as well.

  • One of my fav pieces as well...thanks for posting...good to mix some of the classic with the contemporary..audio beauty...again, many thanks, Mike

  • this is very beautiful erik's satie's best piece

  • ISOLATION!!!!

  • What?

  • I think this song has the power to isolate you in another world. A world of beauty and mysticism.

  • Aha ok. Yes, that's true!

  • @Reign0fPraine Totally agree, but it has to sound like absolute liquid. It's basically impossible to play perfectly on the piano just given the piano's nature. This performance was very nice though. Perfect pacing.

  • i think, it is not exaggeration, if i say, that this piano theme is one of the most beautiful ever.

  • you play beautifully. i really enjoyed listing to it. :o)

  • This is a great version. Good work. Yet, the aliens trying to communicate with me at 2:18 are freaking me out.

  • Hehe, the aliens? That could be. I am still wondering what this noise is. I don't think it's the camera because I uploaded another version and it wasn't there anymore. Have a look at it!

  • After piano class in college as a music major, I never wanted even see a piano again.

This song, and your playing makes me fall in love with the piano all over again.

    Beautiful!!

  • rly good!! im learning it right now and ihave half done so far. you played it beautifully.

  • Today, a friend told me about Erik Satie. I must confess I had no idea of whom he was talking about. But I told him i'd look for something. And so I did...

I remember I had already heard this composition (actually in a movie but i don't remember which one) but I didn't know it was by Erik Satie.

    It's damn beautiful...

  • (i don't think that this is the movie you're talking about) but it's (also) used in a short by makoto shinkai called "other worlds".

  • it's in 5 centimeters per second by makoto shinkai.

  • beautiful snippet of writing in the description, what's it from?

  • From my sheet music. It stands at the beginning of the piece.

  • Please check out the version that I posted as a video response. It's without the bothering noise.

  • hey, doas sb got the sheets ??

i would love to have them

    thx

  • I love the atmosphere around you. Beautiful house, beautiful piano and beautiful peice of music played very well! Good job.

  • this song make me cry ! i dont kno why !

  • Me too. Its so longing

  • So sensitive and special... I love this piece a lot and your interpretation is very inspiring!

  • Das spiel ich zurzeit auch, ein wunderschönes Stück. Auch wenn ich sonst nie bei Satie ankomme... aber das liebe ich

    C.

  • AMAZING I am a piano instructor and you are the best I have ever heard

  • great interpretation

  • superbly done, i enjoyed listening to this

  • is this particularly difficult to play? I thought I could play it by ear. I wanted to watch this to see what key you are in. This is a very beautiful work. One of Satie's best IMHO. I tend to play by ear.

  • nearly made me cry, though i know the piece by heart.

yes its not technically perfect. but i feel like you have a certain kind of understanding for this music. thx.

  • Weak! No sence of line or balance, left hand plays really poorly and even wrong harmonys...Sure that music is simple but you got to have a high skills and sence about ideal sound...Don´t quit your day job kid!

  • Can you do better?

  • beautifully played, very well done.

  • I didn't know that piece was nice. I will start learning it. Thanks for this impression!

    -Hooby-

  • Excellent! Thank you.

  • Beautiful piece, right tempo, nice !

  • Great kid !!!, you're only 19 but you played beautifully, keep playing that way. Satie's music makes me cry but I really enjoy it.

    Greetings !

    Paty from Mexico City

  • rly good!! im learning it right now and ihave half done so far. you played it beautifully. :D

  • Great job! I can't remember if I've commented on this or not. LOL There's a really sad and beautiful piano instrumental I heard at church today, as pretty as this is. I wish I could find out what it was! Don't you hate when that happens? LOL

  • Hey Domino thanx for the update, i didn't know there were digital pianos!

...Alejandro thanx too for the "piss off"

I'm 64 and am behind in my times (obvious huh)

I truly do like the digital sound....it is PURE, just like the old ones.

So now i am re-enjoying this video that Klangzauberer was nice enough to share with us.

I listen to Snoop and Pac!

This pianist has put in much more time studying and practicing.....MY BAD!

  • Your Welcome.

  • One of the best versions I've heard of this song yet! Thanks for posting and good job.

  • I think there is nothing wrong in giving constructive critics to someone. It gives you the chance of reviewing yourself and maybe modify or correct whatever there is to correct.

    Beautiful piece, quite nicely played!

  • 100% score ! Beautiful song, timeless !!!

  • Du bist Extraordineur. Danke shön.

  • Romantic!

  • I myself as all of you should be thankful that we are listening to a real acoustical piano here and a human is playing same.

Now granted this young man hasn't developed all his skills yet.

He does a superb job with what he has..

    The meter, the tempo...great!

I am tired of over-used synthesizers and e-lektic pianoz; ahhhh a real acoustical piano!

    Danke Herr Klangzauberer.

  • Bitteschön :-)

  • why can't you just give the kid a compliment? I can't stand you traditionally trained musicians. It's human to error. So piss off with the criticism.

  • Well not everyone one can afford a acoustic piano or even have room for one that's why there's digital pianos (I use one) and keyboards.

    Ok?

  • What is a digital piano?

  • Basically an advanced keyboard, better sound, feels liek your playing a piano, and if you press the keys softly you get a quiet noise and if you press hard a louder noise.

    Comapct piano even.

  • Usually the tempo of this piece sounds a little too fast or too slow, but IMO you've got it just right.

  • i love this song

  • thank you the song is Beautiful.

  • i think it was good but i think it was lacking musicality. you really needed to go quiet in alot of parts and really strong (not loud) in some others. but over all i think i may have heard one mistake but its still verry good. gj!

  • 62000th VIEWER BABY!

  • awesome, beautiful!!

  • Beautiful.

    Thank-You.

  • excellent!!!

    congratulations! =)

  • Belle interprétation tout en retenue.

    Merci

  • superbe performance !

    Merci

  • Merci ....

  • Tremendous performance. Excellent tone and tempo. Nice one!

  • A Korean film "Samaria" features this song in ever-so-dramatic fashion. The same director used it in another film about reconstruction-era outcasts. Both recommended for the deep depth-tolerant. Kim Ki-Duk is the director. Check 'em out if you like the song.

  • Es hermosaaaaaaaaaa

  • omg... pudding...??? what do u mean? whats ur point? dont listen to music u like? and only listen to the music u want them to listen? COME ON be real! this is a beautiful song and ur just saying dont listen to this shit? WELL lemme say something... ur shit... srry to say but if u are like this u are

  • you know, you ought to expect some bad feedback from what you said because honestly, we enjoy this music and you putting us down just makes us mad. and if you mean that the whole making a mistake was what was making it shit, maybe you should try playing it. its a very intense and hard piece. he did a fantastic job.

in total, be more open about other types of music and respect other's choice of music

  • its just "wombat"(Waste Of Money Brain And Time) to talk to such people...

    ;)

    nice playing!

  • beautifully done x

  • Meravigliosa musica, celestiale!!!

  • ten pounds of ripe bananas for you!!!!!!!

  • I am very sorry about my comment, sir. What I was really trying to say is that he made a mistake at 00:53.

  • fleischpudding:

I am very sorry about my comment, sir. What I was really trying to say is that he made a mistake at 00:53.

Ahahahahahah ya ya ya we now we freek out just as a bad rhyme one milisecond later ... ha ha ha ha ... just sound bro, and knowlegde, but I get ya. hahahaha

  • Ya BRo Da ya now Dat were justa having Fun ya naw, just chill out and get the buzz on, indonesia, and fly wita us, travel on, BRo, Erik Satie. Rhyme It !? Funky Broda, ya naow, justa rhyme it, or even memerize it, you now why ? Put the mixing with it, indonesia, and fly with the music of it. PEace.

  • Er, fleischpudding, correct me if I'm wrong (which I'm sure you'll jump at with your most eliquent grammar) but to be in a position to post your comment ' you ' must have been listening to this 'faggy music' yourself. Therefore, you, by your own definition, must also be a 'fruity faggtos'. Word, bro.

  • I would have to disagree. In fact, I would go so far as to say you are the stupid one. But we all know that idiots don't know how to admit that they have lost an argument.

  • This song is also played in Kingdom Hearts 1 for PlayStation2...

  • i love this song....does anyone know what movie this is played in??

  • in the film "corrina corrina" with whoopi goldberg. great film...

  • Tooi Sekai and Love and Pop are the ones I can think of off the top of my head

  • Also in Samaria (Samaritan Girl, Korea, 2003) which won the Silver Bear of Berlin... is a good movie

  • great shot with your face in it!

  • There are lots of people who used this music. Maybe too mucb.

  • only because it is so beautiful. although, i do agree, its posted a bit much. nonetheless, it is still a wonderful piece.

i personally would like it much better if it were taken a bit slower. my orchestra is playing it for a UIL contest. were having a chair test on it tomorrow.

    wish me luck! :3

  • Benny Hill used this music

  • That's the song of the Chobit's anime. I love it

  • nice song.

  • This song always takes me to my "quiet place" and soothes me so much. I must learn it myself. Thanks for posting it.
