i enjoyed a lot your rendering! beautiful... great right hand, very expressive... tell me, would you consider doing the same thing but with a softier left hand? i was wondering what you could get with a bit less of lower notes. anyway, a great interpretation! thx!
This strange "alien noise" which was discussed before doesn't exist in my second Gymnopedie-video where I just uploded this, again. But you are right, sound quality could be better, anyway.
It's in Hamburg. The appartment is in the second floor though there is a nice view along the road. If you watch my video "Gnossienne nr.3" you can read a comment in which I describe my quarter.

It's the one mysterious thing about the video. I don't know. After lots of people were mentioning it I uploaded this recording, again and it wasn't there anymore. Please check that version out. I posted it as a video response.
i need help with this piece: tips on how to play chords like all in one sound instead of them being slightly different times? like each note of each chord? it sounds messy when i play it!! help!?
The sustain pedal... The problem is not to press it, but to know when let it go. It must sound smooth and not messy.... But all the pianists do that naturally, it's just hard to get when you start.
the key is to keep your fingers firm in the shape of the chord and to drop your hand onto the chord... its kind of hard to explain over youtube though
I think you mean that every finger touches the single key of the chord at the same time that there is no "clattering" to get a proper sound. That would be true.
I like this song a lot, and I've been wondering how can one play it with two hands only.. Now I can see that. Well, I still have a lot to learn. You play really well, mister.
Well said. Sounds you know a lot about classical music. Most people just wine about the video and never call any good points of the music/music player.
When the opinion is correct more like romantic music. Just for information: Satie broke away with every stilistic device that was used in romantic music: No rubato, no cresendos or no decresendos, no development, no dominant-tonics-connections. And in his essays he emphasizes that he declines all trends that go into the direction of neo-romanticism. So , at most, one could say, Chopin and Satie is comparable because they both have a very original and authentic sound in their music.
This song is a very good proof that it doesn't need a highly complex song to sound great. If you can use simple in the right way, you can create real masterpieces.
it's funny...Satie wanted his music to be like wallpaper; the ideal background music. Whether listened to singly or as background, Satie's work is great! Very fine playing as well.
@Reign0fPraine Totally agree, but it has to sound like absolute liquid. It's basically impossible to play perfectly on the piano just given the piano's nature. This performance was very nice though. Perfect pacing.
Hehe, the aliens? That could be. I am still wondering what this noise is. I don't think it's the camera because I uploaded another version and it wasn't there anymore. Have a look at it!
Today, a friend told me about Erik Satie. I must confess I had no idea of whom he was talking about. But I told him i'd look for something. And so I did...
I remember I had already heard this composition (actually in a movie but i don't remember which one) but I didn't know it was by Erik Satie.
is this particularly difficult to play? I thought I could play it by ear. I wanted to watch this to see what key you are in. This is a very beautiful work. One of Satie's best IMHO. I tend to play by ear.
Weak! No sence of line or balance, left hand plays really poorly and even wrong harmonys...Sure that music is simple but you got to have a high skills and sence about ideal sound...Don´t quit your day job kid!
Wow..... you are a GIANT asshole. To be honest you're probably one of larger douchebags I've seen in a while, right up there with Andy Dick. Normally I'd be pissed but I realize now that I should thank you. You sir, have broken new grounds into what it means to be a dick. If brave pioneers like you didn't continue to push the envelope, we'd still think double-dipping was an asshole thing to do. Give yourself a pat on the back, everybody else hates you.
Great job! I can't remember if I've commented on this or not. LOL There's a really sad and beautiful piano instrumental I heard at church today, as pretty as this is. I wish I could find out what it was! Don't you hate when that happens? LOL

Er, fleischpudding, correct me if I'm wrong (which I'm sure you'll jump at with your most eliquent grammar) but to be in a position to post your comment ' you ' must have been listening to this 'faggy music' yourself. Therefore, you, by your own definition, must also be a 'fruity faggtos'. Word, bro.
I would have to disagree. In fact, I would go so far as to say you are the stupid one. But we all know that idiots don't know how to admit that they have lost an argument.
only because it is so beautiful. although, i do agree, its posted a bit much. nonetheless, it is still a wonderful piece.
i personally would like it much better if it were taken a bit slower. my orchestra is playing it for a UIL contest. were having a chair test on it tomorrow.

But we all know that idiots don't know how to admit that they have lost an argument.

only because it is so beautiful. although, i do agree, its posted a bit much. nonetheless, it is still a wonderful piece.
i personally would like it much better if it were taken a bit slower. my orchestra is playing it for a UIL contest. were having a chair test on it tomorrow.
wish me luck! :3

This song always takes me to my "quiet place" and soothes me so much. I must learn it myself. Thanks for posting it.
