Oh my god this sounds like the copy of the song I dubbed from my 45 about 11 years ago....i didnt have very good equipment then.... the 45 sounds cleaner when played on good equipment, which i do now, lol. Also, the original 45 called the song Sadest Song (Of The Year), complete with mis-spelling.... which i've found on two different label variations of the song.
