I tasted Delirium a couple of years ago in a lovely bar in Manchester UK (where i'm from) and had the fantastic opportunity to go to Belgium for my 21st birthday this year and supplement it at the Belgian Annual Beer festival and I have to say it remains my favourite beer, although there are many that come close.
Honestly if you have the chance, you must must travel to Brugges and try a beer from the Garre Bar, the beer isnt sold anywhere aside the bar, and it is easily a contender! :D
I notice you pour the entire bottle out to the last drop...
If you were to pour it slowly, and only empty about 1/2 of the bottle, it's almost a different beer compared with the 2nd half. This applies to pretty much any bottle-conditioned ale. In the clip, you can see how clear & golden it is until you pour the remainder, then all the sediment can be seen billowing in the glass. If you did it on purpose because you prefer the taste of more yeast in the glass, please ignore this comment.
Thanks for the swift reply. I was not having a go at you, it probably sounded harsher than it was intended. I will keep reading all the reveiws out of interest. I saw one doing it straight from the bottle which is bad!!. Can I recommend a book for you if you are interested?
No I will keep watching them like I will all the others. It is interesting to see what others are doing out there. I have seen one doing a reveiw out of bottles which isn't good but at least they had a go. I was not having a go at you by the way. It sounded harsher than it was. Can I recommend a book to you if you are interested? Thanks for the swift reply
And before you say anything about me not doing a beer review, there's no point starting now, I have tried over 1500 beers from arond 65 different countries over the last decade, have a collection of around 30 beer glasses from numerous countries and got a library of around 20 books on beer. I have brewed my own beer for about 25 years and am a member of CAMRA.
Why are you drinking an English stout (Young's Double Chocolate Stout) out of a Belgian Tulip glass (Duvel) for? Or an English brown ale (Newcy Brown) in a Belgian Chalice(Leffe)? They should be served in a standard English pint pot. It's no wonder you had to review the Delirium Tremens again, the first time you tried it was in a Hoegaarden Witbeer glass. the second time you said the beer tasted better but you still had it in the wrong glass (the Leffe chalice). It goes in a large snifter.
it dose not matter what glass you serve it in its a gr8 taseing beer and its so strong its just there to get you drunk and i think got best beer in the world in 1990
I knew that would be your reply. Well then I am going to give you a lesson. You're the worst beer reveiwer I have ever known. You could at least face the camera and do the reviews as if you are conducting a 1 - 1 with the viewers. You won't win any awrds for best director that's for sure, neither will your beer glasses because they are all wrong. Cut the bad language out of the reveiws, you'll never be a Michael Jackson (R.I.P). Also your choice of beer glasses is all wrong.
I wouldn't consider myself a beer expert, I just started drinking micro brewery beers, but I must say, Delerium Tremens is absolutely my favorite. This was a good review. Nice description. I personally love the bitter front taste and how it goes down smooth.
Heh, I don't consider myself an expert either. But one doesn't have to be in order to explore the vast amount of craft/micro breweries that are out there and realize just how much better they tend to be.
I am from the Netherlands and they usually try to avoid yeast. For example they filter the Duvel. However I know someone from Belgium who says that they don't filter it in Belgium and that he likes the unfiltered one better. I guess it's all about taste.
what tom waits song is that?

I'm drinking one right now. Awesome beer... It doesn't have a strong taste. It's fruity and fresh! (I don't think it tastes like duvel)
Great vid!
Cheers from Belgium

I like your reviews, it's like talking to a friend about a beer's quality. It's nice. The swearing makes it more personal! And Nova Scotian!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Can you go a little easier on the bad language during your reveiws please. It does not make the beer taste any better or worse.

Very true.

if you pour it in slower you won't get the yeast in the glass. this is quite easy to do but you won't get as much foam.
hobbitsarecool 3 years ago
Yeah. Personally, I don't mind the yeast at all. I've been used to seeing it in beer since I was a teenager, drinking my father's homebrew.

Sounds like you def. got a good bottle this time.. I'm going to have to go pick up a new one.
The floaters would scare off non craft drinkers though... heh
