Let me really take yall back. I remember the Junkyard Band came and performed for us at Camp Brown right before the big bon fire and the retelling of the story of old man Clutch. They did sardines of course we lost our minds. that was the most fun i had there other than the basketball tournaments.
Thank you to whoever has uploaded this on here. Remember this joint like it was yesterday. Am from the UK and the DC Go-Go sound was much loved here also back in the day. Although it used to cost me most of my bloody pay-packet buying the imports on 12inch vinyl it was all worth it. All hail to the people of Washington DC for producing their own remarkable sound!
The first time I heard Go Go was in college ('95), all the DC kids brought it with them. They put us on and I've been in love every since....I really wish it would come back like it was.
at the beginning it is the funky breakdown to the hee haw. you got to be old school to know that. Johm Wayne is when they pop the trunk hit the deck. I am a str8 Junkie
I get homesick watching these videos. They don't know nothing about this up here where I live. One of my friends even asked me how we dance to this shit. Got to love DC
@ MEDASI7211...I'M FROM BRONX,NEW YORK...MOVE TO ATLANTA WHEN I WAS 13...WENT TO NORTH CAROLINA A@T FROM 84-88...I HAD MY OWN SWAGGER...BOX CUT FADE,LOW CUT, AND LOW CUT FADE...SHELL TOE'S,PUMA'S & KICKING THE TIMB'S...WAS DOING THIS IN "THE A"...NEVER DID THE CURLS,HELL NO!!!!!!...SO WHEN I GOT TO A&T I WAS ALWAYS ASK WHERE WAS I FROM,CAUSE I WAS MIXING SHIT UP...AND THAT IS WHERE I GOT HOOK ON GO GO!!!!...AND YOU ARE RIGHT IT NEVER GOES OUT OF STYLE...NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!
Being from DC, and now residing in Atlanta, what I realize about go-go, it never goes out of style and every generation loves it, old skool or new skool, don't matter. It is a genre of music unique to DC.
DC invented the definition of Swagger, we was wearing low cut fades, when the rest of the country had Gheri Curls and Kid and Play Box cuts. We were the greatest and we wore the latest shit. New Yorkers couldn't deal (we too country they said), so they moved to Atlanta, go figure.

@JoMoKee15 You had the best of both worlds BIG-BAD-BRONX-NYC and the A, so you are what I consider a hybrid of Northern and Southern style and sensibilities. And, guess what's in the middle of the north and the south? DC!! So, my man - you woulda fit right on in, EASILY. STAY STRONG!!
@MEDASI7211 I stamped that my dude. You go anywhere in the country and they can tell you from DC.We invented originality joe.No other place is as original as we are.Man I love being from DC!!!!!!!!
