  • When you're this good it's no longer jazz ... it's just beautiful music.

  • John Abercrombie is def my fav guitar player with Mick Goodrick.

My fav horizontal players so to speak.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • @gobopollo - i think u just might mean vertical.....as in still alive?

  • @cjenkinsjazz no pal, it was a technical consideration on their use of the instrument. Thank God they are both still perfectly alive :) Vertical guitarists would be musicians such as Joe Pass or Jim Hall, using more vertical boxes.

Abercrombie and Goodrick have a very modern horizontal approach on the keyboard and they were the very first. Then Metheney and others learned their vocal style.

    :)

  • @cjenkinsjazz You can check this example of Abercrombie's horizontal play:

    Happy new year :)

  • BRAVI, OTTIMO INTERPLAY

  • Sick tone

  • madre mia. fantastic !

  • Maybe it's just a flaw of the record but Abercrombie's guitar sounds so dry.

  • Great playing, nice take on the tune. I suppose it was necessary to key them 'Jazz Guitarist' just on the off chance somebody thought this was heavy metal.

Nothing is more beautiful than a guitar, save perhaps two.

  • Interesting interplay

  • Check out the version from Joe Diorio and David Becker on the Color of Sound!

  • i'd never thought i'd say this, as i've always been a huge fan of abercrombie's sound and playing, but on this, i actually like the playing and sound of mr. basile better. who'd a thunk :-)
