  • Of course Keiichi's TRD 4A-GE Blacktop 20v gets my vote. It's engine note is the closest when compared to Takumi Fujiwara's TRD 4A-GE Silvertop 20v. Plus, it's the sound of a true high-performance racing engine.

  • @nfswinitialdracer86 That's because Keiichi's AE86 engine note is used for Takumi's AE86. Even a few Hot Version cars are used for recording sounds in Initial D, like Tohru's Eunos Roadster, they use RS Aizawa's Blue Roadster

  • @EFGsrMonster it says in the video JIC 65mm. JIC have heaps of models but most of them are for POS vans, cant imagine there would be many for AE86.

  • 5 is Tsuchiyas Custom TRD set up. Im pretty sure hes using TRD headers but everything after that is a one off from TRD.

  • All 4age 20v have ITBs. The roaring sound is because of the velocity stacks

  • tsuchiya's trueno is the best!! 2nd is the levin that came before his car

    4age and its TVIS system is just like Vtec, during the mid 80's this little 4 cylinder was probably the best of all 4 cylinders. It could be that honda created VTEC after the 4age and its TVIS... honda just took it to another level though... but dayum hearing the itb's and just the sound of the different variations of the 4age is epic

  • @aimkoj TVIS is nothing like vtec. Vtec works on the cams and valves it self. TVIS is just an intake manifold contraption, which sorta hindered itself high rpm...which is why Toyota stopped using it.

  • If you mean that roaring sound they make, it's the induction, not the exhaust. Most of them should be 20v with ITBs

  • AE85 and AE86 are much the same shell wise, but differ in that a AE85 has a 3AU engine, K50 transmission and S Series diff, crap interior etc. In this day it is cheaper to buy a AE86 outright rather than swap an AE85 to AE86 spec.

    Oh yeah AE85 and AE86 come in coupe and hatch, levin and trueno.

  • Ok from just listening to the engines...it goes like this:

    1 - Tuned 16v Big Port 4age??

    2 - Cammed and Tuned 16v Big Port 4age??

    3 - Tuned 4agze - Scubacharger haha

    4 - Tuned ITB 16V 4age

    5 - Tuned BT 20v 4age

  • Agreed, 3 is deffo supercharger, and 5.. do we have to guess hehe, we do know for sure that the BT is ITB, so number 4 might be BT ITB small port adapted or Dellortos (Which I think is most likely).

  • Also, I think KT`s BT 20v is 162-164 HP (At least at the time of this video being made). Which are pretty much stock HP`s for the BT 20v. Might be a little more than that with racing plugs, better distributor wiring, etc. But I think the engine itself is still pretty much stock.

    For the costs of the chassis to be modified and reinforced for the 20v, the cheapest thing would be to tune the original 16v, which is proven to be easier and better tuned than the 20v, I believe.

  • KT's AE86 definitely uses a custom TRD gearbox...thus allow use of the high rpm control ITB throttle precision and control.

    20v project are definitely not the cheapest way to get power. Enough said lol.

  • The close ratio GB is designed to allow an engine to remain in a relatively narrow(engine) operating speed...mainly used for high revving application...thus allowing the engine to remain in its precision range of the powerband...providing sustainable power and accurate(instant) throttle control.

  • The 20V bolts straight in with stock mounts, bolts straight up to standard T50 bellhousing, what needs modification is the cooling system and distributor clearance off the firewall... you dont really have to reinforce the body at all, and its cheaper to convert to 20v than to build a bluetop or smallport to the same HP as stock blacktop... the 20v is real good with a aftermarket ECU. But yeah if you want massive N/A power a 16V is cheaper and you can fit bigger cams in due to larger bucket size
