  • One of the best vocal colaborations ever made! Paul Overstreet's a genius at writing, and Tanya and the Pauls blended soooo well together! My wife and I do this as a duet and the song is always well received! Thank you for posting! RP

  • awesome

  • this song is moveing!!!!!

  • Paul Davis sings the first verse and Paul Overstreet sings the third verse, it's hard to tell who's who cause they sound so similar.

  • Such an unbeliveably sweet song!

  • Classic country; wholesome and clean, great blend. Thanks for writing this, Paul Davis; TDO did a great job.

  • @algermom1 - This song was written by Paul Overstreet and Don Schlitz, and the lyrics are very much in line with other songs he has written: as you said, wholesome, clean, uplifting.

Good arrangement to feature a woman singing the verse about the mother and her son, in contrast to men singing the other verses.

  • End of this song touched my heart.

  • Wow I love this song.

Love TT! Beautiful song, with three great voices!!

  • OMG!!! Just heard this, it;s like one of my favorites now.. Love T.T.

  • They wont take less than your love because they don't deserve less. Good wholesome music.

  • Glee Fans? Paul Overstreet is the Dad of the new cast member that has blonde hair...Can't think of his name! lol

  • @Heartboy1031 His son is named Chord!!! I love Glee and I knew about that but I had no idea this was him! AHHH!

  • How Much Do I Owe You?....<3

  • You don't hear gold like this on country radio anymore.

  • I love her voice. Sweet draw!

  • Love this song so much. I love that little "Texas Tornado". I still have the 45 of her first hit which most people think is Delta Dawn. In truth, it is Lizzie & The Rainman. Another great song by Ms. Tucker. Thank you for posting this. :=)))

  • According to Wikipedia, "Delta Dawn" was released in 1972 and "Lizzie and the Rainman" was released in 1975. So one of you must be off on this information.

  • does anyone know the chords and progression for this song any info would be greatly appreciated

  • You are right BTrucks.

Tanya released Delta Dawn/I love the way he loves me in April 1972 while she was under contract to Columbia. Lizzie and the Rainman/Traveling Salesman was released in April of 1975 after she had moved to MCA.

BTW, Although Lizzie was a #1, Her version of Delta Dawn was a #6. San Antonio Stroll followed Lizzie, and was another #1. THIS song, I won't take less than your love was actually released in October of 1987 and Topped the country charts in 1988.

  • @LittleJimmySouthern yay you can use wikipedia

  • @scandmx5atl Perhaps you can tell everybody where the information that Delta Dawn was #6 is in the Wiki piece?

And wiki told you what was on the flip side of Delta Dawn?

And the flip side of Lizzie?

And the information on THIS song being released in Oct of 87 song is in Wiki?

    I don't think so.

  • Love this song!!!!!

  • This song is amazing.

  • this proves that the old stuff is the best.

  • (calls music row)

Uh yes Mr. Record label exuctive. Uh, yea we're sick of the stuff you try to pass as country these days and we were calling to ask if we could have our 80s' country back, along with the country music in the decades before it. Well we're particually pissed at music by artists such as Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, and Rascal Flatts.

    Thank you,

    the country music audience.

  • HAHAHHAHA

  • What's wrong with the music that Keith makes?? He is a tremendous songwriter and musician!

  • you must read yourself up on music historie, then you see. see who made the different songs.

  • @PartyJL Keith Whitley is a hell of singer. Keith Urban is along the same lines of Rascal Flatts, they ain't Country.

  • @bigrobmjca At least Eric Church and Jamey Johnson are out there...

And Hank Williams III sounds exactly like his grandpa voicewise.

  • Will we really pay the price

  • This is absolutely beautiful,

How each singer has the lead and the other two reform for great background harmony.

    ... simply beautiful :)

Also noteworthy, songwriters such as Paul Overstreet, Don Schlitz, Paul Davis and many others ... had a great influence on having a younger generation Love country music.

  • great song

  • tyvm for posting this special hit I hope it stays on for a very long time

  • Excellant song. I love to listen to Paul Overstreet and Tanya Tucker these are my 2 favorite singers. This song is very special to me!! A+++++

  • THIS is country music. Not the guys you see on TV today, who like pornstars with guitars.

  • @fabiois4KU

"Porn stars with guitars". I love it.

  • Thanks for posting. This is one of my all time favorite songs. I have a playlist of songs special to me because of the love I have for my husband and this song is on it. I did have the Kenny Chesney version, which is pretty fair, but I prefer the original so much more. It's so sweet and gentle.

  • This is one of the best country songs ever. The part where Tanya Tucker sings really makes the song.
