actually, i think it's a good thing he waited a couple of days. if he had dealt with it while he was angry, it may have ruined his and his daughters "relationship", if you will. sure, he could have left it at "youre grounded" (yes, more than a month.) the day it happened, then dealt with it when he calmed down.

@roblou62 It's SMALL claims court. In most jurisdictions, $5,000.00 is the MAXIMUM anyone can receive, and that's what they got. You can go before a jury, and try to reclaim every dime....where you have to proove beyond a reasonable doubt. (Which he really, really SHOULD have done, because he had SO much evidence), or you can go to small claims, and only have to proove a preponderance of the evidence. (In other words, more likely than NOT.)

Sounds like the daughters might be status offenders, which is a court status for truancy, acting up at home, etc. It's meant to help teenagers avoid the criminal pipeline by providing therapy and such. Unfortunately, though the status offender resources in a lot of states are depleted due to state budgets, and is definitely an issue that doesn't get enough attention.
