Hi... I hope I didn't offend you with my comment. That never was my purpose. But I'll try to explain myself - just excuse my miserable english.
First... clothing and equipment. I know thats more a subtle detail. But the german standarts are generally higher.
The combat is the main thing actually... announcing the damage-value by every strike just sounds goofy. In german LARP magic weapons or alike are extremely rare and the damage is usually announced with the first strike...
Hi Razorback thanks for replying appreciate your comments not offended ,interested in your point of view. I have for the last couple of years admired the quality of costume in germany and the levels of participation.... Myself I have a character that I have been playing for over twenty years and he has a very expensive costume however I have to admit after a couple of encounters i look like a scarecrow .... I dont really do fests anymore I tend to play events
... thereafter no more. The enemy knows then, that 'that' weapon does special-damage. Therefor magic-weapons are marked by a blue band. Depends upon what rule-system is played.
Also I've noticed that in american LARP weapons are often not correctly wielded. Here in germany we strictly simulate 'realistic' weapon-weights. So there are nice fighting scenes in general, and no 'hopping around an turbo-tapping an enemy'...
@RazorbackX99 I'm really thinking about it. My friend introduced me to this, but I never really got to do anything. When we were "practising" I noticed he did the whipping thing.
I dominated him with a short spear? I'm not very familiar with the weapons.
once every month at sites all over the UK .The party size will be up to 15 people and the plot will be specific to those envolved. Because the party size is smaller it can be refereed easier and combat can be more complicated with numerous effects ,spells casting and a multitude of player skills being utilised. We have many characters will skill points of over 2000 (this will equate to how many hours played) I think this is the main difference between the two types of larp .
Your point about turbo tapping I 100 percent agree with and in the combat system we use you are encouraged to hit a different location with each strike
thanks for your comments they are appreciated otherwise why bother putting on youtube
hah i do admit this is soo lame and cheesey but i really wanna try it out cuz it looks fun, and thats the main thing

I hope these examples were understandable...

we are a high fantasy system .......so we have damage that doesnt exist in the "real world"
breaking down the damage inflicted
its magic based
doing the blows seven times the power of a normal man.
