I dont listen to Boa really, but best way for me to compare her based on her singing and dancing (no offense to her) is to Britney Spears. I just dont think her singing is on par to...lets say... Beyonce. Then again most singers aren't. I do like her music so far, it's catchy.
well, I don't think thats true. Look at Shakira...I just think BoA's voice is different to you because the accent is unfamiliar in the States. There's a lot of people who favor Shakira's accent and so overlook her halting English.....whereas BoA..not too many people have positive views of Asian accents...so it sounds different. But it is still great music!
I can see why you would compare BoA to Britney based on dancing because they are both great dancers but not singing. Although they both do pop music their genres are different. BoA sings many power ballads in which Britney does not. Their styles are just completely different.
There are also two different types of dancing: sexy dancing, and street dancing. Britney does sexy dancing, which to me anyone can do. BoA does street dancing, which is more complicated. Thats what my dance teacher taught me. Britney dresses more revealing. BoA doesn't dress quite AS revealing as Britney. Her style is more urban, street, and hip-hop. BoA also sings alot better.
BoA's dancing style is definitely more complicated and complex, especially for her English songs. Haha, not many Asian artists dress as revealing as Britney or American artists. Asians are more conservative and I like that because you know that these artists aren't selling albums based on how skimpy their outfits are. BoA sings way better.
It's hard to compare anyone to Beyonce because Beyonce is one of the best although I love BoA but you also have to consider the fact that Beyonce has been out longer and BoA debuted at an extremely young age so her voice wasn't mature.
Anyway, BoA will really grow on you, not only are her upbeat songs really catchy, but her ballads are beautiful.
Beyonce can sing, I'll give her that. But at this Gay Pride Fest, I didn't hear anyone better than BoA. The other performances didn't give off as much energy or charisma or power as BoA did. Solange even tripped! How humiliating! BoA's moves were polished and entertaining. She didn't put anyone to sleep.
BoA has a lot of energy and charisma when she performs. LOL, poor Solange, people trip all of the time, it's okay and cute some times. They are only human.

I said her english SONGS, not her ability to speak eng. they are very generic do not have as much as an impact as her japanese or korean songs. you're like one of those idiots who will defend wondergirls english songs, because they are the WG. BoA is probably one of the most charismatic pop singers in korea, one of the best dancers, & pop singers, but regardless her eng/ songs are very lackluster. get over the fact that its BOA. yes, there's a little bit of brit in there.

no, that's what we call marketing and capitalizing. if one of the biggest pop stars now was an R&B artist, she would be singing R&B. do a bit of research on korean pop music. everything changes with whatever trends are happening in north america. regardless of what genre a pop singer is singing. those who wear the most hats make the most money. she does wear them well though.

I love music as much as the next guy, regardless of the language. music is universal, but I'm not going to pretend that somehow asian artists are magically better. clearly you haven't been listening to english music very long. there will always be (Asian) artists who come close to the artists I have mentioned. but these are the people who pretty much own whatever genre's whether its pop r&b or soul. no getting around that.

BoA is doing what she do best, which is to sing and dance at the same time... i guess that's the reason why she is starting out with her dance track instead of those pwerful ballads that she did for korea. .. she has to blend into the mainstream music first to attract a decent crowd in USA before jumping so quickly into her other styles of singing haha... no offense but USA isn't an easy industry for an asian artist to enter...

I dont listen to Boa really, but best way for me to compare her based on her singing and dancing (no offense to her) is to Britney Spears. I just dont think her singing is on par to...lets say... Beyonce. Then again most singers aren't. I do like her music so far, it's catchy.

well, I don't think thats true. Look at Shakira...I just think BoA's voice is different to you because the accent is unfamiliar in the States. There's a lot of people who favor Shakira's accent and so overlook her halting English.....whereas BoA..not too many people have positive views of Asian accents...so it sounds different. But it is still great music!

I can see why you would compare BoA to Britney based on dancing because they are both great dancers but not singing. Although they both do pop music their genres are different. BoA sings many power ballads in which Britney does not. Their styles are just completely different.

There are also two different types of dancing: sexy dancing, and street dancing. Britney does sexy dancing, which to me anyone can do. BoA does street dancing, which is more complicated. Thats what my dance teacher taught me. Britney dresses more revealing. BoA doesn't dress quite AS revealing as Britney. Her style is more urban, street, and hip-hop. BoA also sings alot better.

BoA's dancing style is definitely more complicated and complex, especially for her English songs. Haha, not many Asian artists dress as revealing as Britney or American artists. Asians are more conservative and I like that because you know that these artists aren't selling albums based on how skimpy their outfits are. BoA sings way better.

It's hard to compare anyone to Beyonce because Beyonce is one of the best although I love BoA but you also have to consider the fact that Beyonce has been out longer and BoA debuted at an extremely young age so her voice wasn't mature.
Anyway, BoA will really grow on you, not only are her upbeat songs really catchy, but her ballads are beautiful.

Beyonce can sing, I'll give her that. But at this Gay Pride Fest, I didn't hear anyone better than BoA. The other performances didn't give off as much energy or charisma or power as BoA did. Solange even tripped! How humiliating! BoA's moves were polished and entertaining. She didn't put anyone to sleep.
