  • City was doing pretty well until Moses started buying up all the rural and small-town ex-CTV and CBC affiliates across Canada. He stretched City too thinly and couldn't cover it all.

CTV/Rogers pounced and thus was the end of independent TV in Canada. (Although City's editorializing in news items got really tiresome by the 2000s.)

  • I'm so pissed that Citytv doesn't even air movies anymore. Fuck you Rogers!!!!

  • The voice of Toronto

  • RIP Mark Dailey, CityTV won't be the same without you.

  • @MrNotbadyou Oh shit, I didn't know he died! Daaaamn. Cancer FTL.

  • R.I.P. Mark Dailey...you'll be forever missed! :(

  • Oh man, forgot about this one, kinda liked the other one more, but yeah.....cityTV and even the CBC were way better back then. How I miss the 90's........ and RIP Mark Dailey.

  • RIP Mark Dailey.

  • Growing up in the 1990's, I did feel and think CityTV was Canada's superstation. It did have a unique feel which others didn't have. CityTV had the best news show, great TV shows and was definitely the best in Canada for movies. Oh how I miss the past! I knew about this channel better than the others because my parents were always watching it.

  • why did they stop this, man i miss the 90's

  • @diver362 because reality tv became the norm

  • It's all left to CHCH Hamilton now. By some miracle they're independent now. The tradition will continue, despite all odds.

  • Remember BABY BLUE movies at midnight....classic city tv...what happened to this awesome station?

  • Rogers is a disgrace to Canadians

  • Mark Daily FTW!!!

  • can anyone post the City Pulse at Six theme song?

  • Man, what an awesome opening...what happened to city tv? they always used to put on great movies...now its all reality tv garbage.

  • nostalgia.

  • I agree, ever since Rogers bought CityTV from Chum, it's gone downhill.

  • @cmchomyn City Tv started its decent when the Board Of Directors gave Moses Znaimer the boot a few years prior to Rogers buying them. It is now less then the empty shell of it's former greatness.

  • @maddogmcrae From what I've researched around the internet, City started to decline even before he (MZ) was forced out. (dating around a few years or so.)

  • @ZoneCountry That was when he started to lose control (after partnering with CHUM Ltd. to get some extra cash), then the slow decline started.

  • @cmchomyn Rogers makes everything go downhill

  • @cmchomyn Rogers turns everything into shit.

  • From 0:27 to the end, what's going on?

  • It's the visual opening for ORION films.

  • Anybody have the theme?

  • Which one?

  • The one playing in the video without anything on top of it....Or the one they used in the previous Great Movies intro...

  • i love how it's the same guy announcing it still!!

  • even the afternoon and late-night movies had to go...in favor of what? judge joe brown, "american gladiators" reruns and flavor flav (on late nights)? or "the OC" and bonnie hunt (in the afternoon)?! geez...sure, they still have a movie block on saturday nights (9pm), but it isn't the same hodge-podge of "great movies" anymore. :(

  • Distilled epicness!

  • ohh man i remember this. city tv dosent even play movies at 9 any more its all reality shows

  • yeah and when they play movies there the more recent crappy ones. I recall when they were like showcase and played movies uncut during prime time but enough of my rant lol

  • love that intro and that movie they were going to show

  • Coooooool!
