excellent aqua scapeing and that crab was an excellent touch!! but how does it come up? climbs up the wood? i dont see how else he would. and what happened to the rule "1 inch of fish per gallon"???
Beautiful! I love your vids. I'm thinking about getting a BiOrb Life 60. Did you put in a heater? And how is your crab doing? I was reading that they don't do well in freshwater and tend to die. I'm also curious what kind of plants you used? You never listed them. Thanks!
I have some swords.. bamboo, and some grass. The crabs do fine as long as you feed them (algae) and provide them with a way to come out od the water to dry/bask! Thank you for the comments!
I could not tell you an exact amount. I can tell you the individual prices. The plants are about $3 to $6 each, the Rocks are about $25, the fish are different amounts but not more than $7 each. I guess the most important part is the external light which was about $75 The small light that comes with the setup is not enough for the planted tank. I also got some IRON in liquid form and a small magnetic cleaner. Hope this helps,
I would not say they make it easier to clean as much as you wont have to clean it as much perhaps. I clean my Orb every 2 to 3 weeks and it takes me about 3 minutes.
They might be dying because of a great number of reasons. Out of experience with my business I have learned this reasons to be the more common:
1.overfeeding
2.overfeeding
3.Poor husbandry
4. lack of patience
Most people tent to think the fishies are hungry and feed them twice a day or maybe just once but too much. Many times people are too desperate and start buying fish like crazy without making sure the water has fully cycled.
And sometimes the fish were just sick! Good luck! Thanks!
lol! If you just setup your tank it will be a little cloudy because of the ammonia in the water column. This is the beginning of what is called the nitrogen cycle. Read on it a little more. If you let the tank be without overfeeding it it WILL clear as the cycle completes it's way.
Hi Bannarama! Thank you. I will make a list of plants I have and post them for you! The Crab is a fiddler crab, you should be able to pick them up at your LFS. The important thing is to provide it with an area above water so it can come up on. They are not fully aquatic!
Cool.. sounds like a nice setup! If you want live plants I would get an external light source. I have a 27w Pc on top of the biorb to supplement lighting, otherwise the plants wont get enough lighting!
love your vids. gorgeous setup. how does the crab climb?
