@yashmhedecho21 I replaced this camera with newer model, but i remember that it didn't have any usable video autofocus. I used manual focus, because using AF for filming with big sensor camera is not a good idea.

@TheEagleWorks I am using Adobe Premiere Pro, never used live movie maker but DSLRs use high compression format which requires very strong computer to play back smooth so you probably need to get better PC.

How do you do that in the begininng with the focusing of the foreground?

@JerseyShore117 just using focus wheel - but you need to have bright lens (low f-number) like 50mm 1.8 or 1.4, 85 mm etc or telephoto lens at maximum zoom so you can blur the background.

It's called low (shallow) depth of field (DoF).

sorry im pretty new to the DSLR thing. and i read your description box as '58 mm Helios 44M-4 M42 lens, 18-55 mm Canon lens.. does that mean you used two lenses? can i know which scenes of this whole video was the 18-55mm lens used? thanks because im buying the 500D this week :)

@Rednapped Sorry, I don't remember, but probably scenes with more blur were filmed with 58mm (0:00-0:20 for sure).

BTW I would recommend you 550D rather than 500D. A little more expensive, but better a lot (video wise).

@igarcia165 500d - not so much. It's only 720p (in fact it has 1080p mode but it's useless because of 20fps framerate) and has mono audio with no microphone jack.

550d - yes, it's almost as good as 7d and has plenty of video modes with different framerates, up to 1080p. It's stereo and has microphone input. It costs few bucks more but I really recommend it.

@Imaniconnie Yes, i bought Canon 18-200 and 50mm 1.8. It's great camera, but I will probably sell it and buy 550D - it has better video features, 500D is great but it only has 30fps setting, mono audio and no microphone input. Anyway the quality is still great.

magic bullet, never heard of it to be honest. is it worth a try? i'm getting my 500d in aweek and I carnt wait to try this.

Magic Bullet is a plugin, for AE, Premiere, FCP etc.

It's great, gives you ability to create nice film look (it's a standard in TV and film editing), but it requires good computer, or it will work terribly slow.
