  • Excellent freakin video!

  • somthing is wrong about this video this is the devil at work guys (don`t let it get in your mind) GOD is real & will always be, the problem with us human beings is we are so far away from the truth we think all the lies in todays world is real. If you don`t believe in GOD thats up to you, but if people want to believe in a higher power, if they want to be nice to people, remain positive, prey & be thankfull for the things in life, its not for the non believers to say anything about our CHOICE

  • the murder scene haunts my mind...it is those scenes in this world that I am working diligently to change via the way I live my life...we all can make the world a better place to live...

  • EXCELLENT video!!!!

  • beautiful! It's great to be allowed to climb. what freedom.

  • Brilliant !

    The voice of reason.

One of the best philosophies of getting through life I have heard.

    Thank you.

  • Very powerful, thanks so much!

  • Thanks dude

  • Who the fuck is jehovah???

    wait i dont care

  • Sin is inherent and has nothing to do with the way you feel about yourself. Just because you are inherently sinful does not mean that you should blame yourself or lower your self-esteem by any means, why are you instilling this idea?

I value myself, although I know I am an inherently sinful human being.

Because these individuals choose to turn their hearts away from sinful indulgence does not negatively impact their self-esteem. Why must a blaming finger point? Are we not all the same species?

  • @xX4P47HYXx

Sin is a human invention as is the devil.

  • @ifulik I can tell you were born last night.... coz you certainly wasn't born at night.

    Wise up quick.

  • Thank you for a wonderfully done video. I am free from WT. Thank you

  • Well done, great effort.

  • Well done!!! I hope many more Witnesses will come to the realizations you stated in your video. This IS life, we are all living RIGHT NOW, on this planet, in our little corner of the universe. REALIZE YOUR POTENTIAL and make YOUR INDIVIDUAL contribution to mankind now, not through an organization helping to preach a fairytale. I was born a JW and left at 23 (13yrs ago), and life has simply been so much more rewarding! I truly wish everyone could realize that for themselves as well. Peace:)

  • i dont find the witnesses to be anything other than fellow humans trying to get by in a very confused and mixed up world. good on them for trying.

  • That's a good way to sum it up. I don't like the fact that people get extremely hateful in regards to them and claim to be Christians.

  • because they hurt people in the name of god

  • seriously though, i have read the works of many of the greatest men both in the fields of 'life' self help books and the like and also business books and autobiography's.

during my 26 years in the truth, i found that there was a constant struggle to be better and to alwasy do more, and i left to pursue a life that didnt mean this. now i find myself taking the best advice i can find and applying that in my life which is really the same thing.

  • See how you have been brainwashed? You called it THE TRUTH. This is a brainwashing technique that you have been drip fed. Even people that have fallen away call it the truth. Even people that dont believe call it this.

  • wow, religion is certainly an emotive subject. i have watched the video and read the comments posted with interest.

i too was a JW but have not been assosiated with the wintneses for 5years or so. since i have left, i have been on a search for my own answers to the purpose of life. i started a very succesful business, so i am now a millionaire hoping money would bring answers, it doesnt, but it does bring alot of fun!.

  • Thank you for the great video! I was raised as a JW as well and I was always absolutely miserable. I thought that there was something wrong with me until I left and learned the real 'truth' about the organization. Getting away from the Kingdom Hall was the best thing that ever happened to me. Finally, I can spend my time enjoying life instead of at the Kingdom Hall or knocking on doors. Thanks again!

  • I FEEL EXACTLY THE SAME WAY! It's just a system of control pure and simple.

  • This is really brilliant!

This was the first time I sat stunned at the end of a YouTube video, like when you can't leave the theater because the film so moving.

  • Since i have broken free from the Watchtower, i can now see over the fence at the golden fields of barley....Excellent helpfull video! Thanks

  • I've watched well over a thousand videos on YouTube and not found any better than this.

Simply outstanding and I must say incredibly moving!

  • Thousands of religions they all take a life time to learn and we only have 1 life time. It's Best to respect all religions. because if one of them where true you wont have to answer to discriminating it. after death It would be better to say "I was looking but did not find it, I'm sorry."

Every establishment is messed up all the same in this world.

  • With respect joelfwilson, to blindly respect another's views (be them termed 'religious' or otherwise) is quite different to respecting that individual as a fellow human being.

Also I've found Pascal's Wager to be pure nonsense once properly explored. But of course these are just my views irrelevant of what respect they are afforded by anyone else but me...and of course open to change ;-)

  • Lol..

But what if this all is a test.. and god want's you to insult religion?

Then you will have to answer...

  • If he was Christian I would say sorry I thought treat your neighbor as your self applied to all. if not I would say I am sorry I did not know what you wanted of me and I tried my best to do what I thought you would want me to do please forgive me. I am not on the side of nothing I take the side of right. Though I have yet to find out or confirm what that is. I will always keep my eyes open for it. Thank you for the comment neighbor.

  • Excellent video David! I concur whole heartedly and warm to the humanistic perspective.

My only gripe with Abe Maslow would be the concept of self esteem. I don't believe self-worth should be dependent upon another and so prefer "self love". If you learn to value something highly, you'll look after it regardless of the influence of others. There's no one more valuable to yourself than yourself. Cheers.

  • Hey would you judge christianism by the way Juda acted?

  • Thank you so much for this great work. I found it through my constant search for anything Maslow. I thank god every day he let me be an atheist.

  • Thanks David.

  • the witnesses are like birds in a cage there safe but there not free nice video

  • Very good video, thank you. I spent 12 years in Alcoholics Anonymous before leaving in sheer disgust some four years ago. It was completely co-opted from the Oxford Groups cult, aka "Buchmanism" which preceded it. It is also based entirely on a sin and redemption model in which the self is viewed as evil. Everything you describe from Maslow's Hierarchy applies there as well. Thanks.

  • Hi Rick - I landed here via your profile. This video is SENSATIONAL! Have to say though, I can't connect the dots to AA. My experience is all positive. AA lifted me from the bottom to "over the fence"

  • How does an animal act?

  • Anyone with a reasonable level of spirituality can see how flawed your argument is. Recognizing our inherent sinful nature doesn't take away from our self esteem, it adds to it. It explains why we make mistakes, why we break down, get sick and die. Why even though our mind tells us what's in our best interests, we instead follow our heats and our flesh. It explains why our world is so far from ideal.

  • Finally it adds to our self esteem, knowing that although imperfect, Jehovah God valued us all so highly, he was willing to pay a dear price to buy us back from our current circumstance of condemnation to sin and death. Your high sounding phylosphy is nothing more than a desperate attempt to excuse you from the obligations of your dedication to your creator and life-giver, Jehovah God. Your comments are utter rubbish, in your heart you likely know that!

  • You do your cause a great disservice the way you displayed those gratuitous pictures at the end of your video. Anyone with an ounce of honesty will recognize, in any large organization, there will always be a few lulu's. But, they will also acknowledge, J.W's in general, are among the most law abiding, moral and pricipled people on this planet. To suggest otherwise, identifies you with all the other self serving, ax to grind, hypocrites on this board! .... Cheers!

  • mackman1958: (reply2) Most PEOPLE are law-abiding, moral and principled, with a few lulu's: JW's are no better or worse. However, JW's are more culpable because they take the high moral ground and yet literally tens of thousands of records of criminal acts, stored at Brooklyn, should be handed over to the police and are not. And yes, I do have an axe to grind: their dogma warped my sense of reality and denied me a normal upbringing; the guilt I carry with me is that I let them do it for so long.

  • mackman1958: (reply1) The argument may well have flaws, but it has stood the test of time; Maslow observed this facet of human nature back in the 1950's. 'Mistakes' are merely actions that are socially unacceptable. Our emotional and physical states are controlled by secretions from cells within our bodies, ultimately they lead to death; that's the cycle of life. My reason (excuse) for not keeping my obligation is that I made an obligation to a fictitious character that does not exist.

  • 01Jehovah, Yes, well that is rather convenient, isn't it?

A promise is no longer a promise, if the promise was made to an individual, who no longer, or perhaps never did exist? In this case, how can the promise possibly be viewed as binding?

Answer: it can't! Yes, I see your point.

I'm thinking about wishing my mortgage company right out of existence.

  • "yet literally tens of thousands of records of criminal acts, stored at Brooklyn". From where do you get your statistics from mate? Even if this were true, the only reason they would have such, is that J.W's demand proper behvior of their members. How many "acts" would you say exist among the other religions? They have no record since they turn a blind eye to wrong doing.

  • Statistics of number of 'sex offenders' held on file at WT HQ (2003) 23,720. see ://news .bbc . co. uk /1 /hi /programmes /panorama /2119903 .stm (note: remove spaces). They do exist among other religions: just goes to show - JW's are nothing special! no more blessed by 'god' than anyone else in the world. Great business org though.

  • Maslow's theory has done nothing more than reduce intelligent humans to a level consistent with that of the animal population. Everything we do, we do from some instinctive need to become warm and well fed, and on it goes.

  • The prophet Jesus said, "Happy are those conscience of their "spiritual need".

You are certainly free to chuck aside your spiritual need and wrap Maslow's theory around you like a warm blanket. However don't be surprised if you wake someday in the future to find that after having done so, you're still not happy. ... Cheers!

  • The next step on your road to enlightenment is to see spirituality as the way to enjoy the emotions we 'feel' from the interactions of the brain and hormones secreted by our cells (eg adrenalin) (sorry to get technical).

  • Mackmanl58, you're so right.

  • Ahhhhh, mackman1958, YOU ARE BEGINNING TO SEE THE LIGHT! we are indeed the most adaptable 'animal' on the planet. To think we are so special that we are closer to 'god' than any other form of life is pious, self-absorbed, egotistic conceit to the Nth degree.

  • i feel good now. i have a sound mind and a good heart! lol i just need to live my life! great vid.

  • Thanks to everyone for your kind comments. I hope you can pass the message on to your friends.

  • Great video. One reason Witnesses can never make it to the top levels of the hierarchy of needs is that the Watchtower deliberately strips them of things that make them individuals. There are constantly articles telling people not to invest too much effort in a career, not to spend too much time on hobbies, not to stray to far from the clothing and haircuts that appear in the WT magazine. The religion really crushes the souls of their members.

  • hopefulatheist: So very true. Thanks for your comment.

  • great video. thank you for sharing.

  • and you can't spell

  • Amen. I'm finding this so true for me as well.

  • This was so cool and so true. Congratulations on trying to forge your own path. This was a wonderful clip--thanks.

  • Beautiful video. I had a tear drop from watching that. Isn't it great to finally have the option to choose how to live? Amazing! I enjoy your posts.
