MrKilldemon, sorry for a late reply but, Vergil loses a the fight against Mundus in DMC3(at the end) and then gets possesed and becomes Nelo Angelo(the guy you fight in DMC1). You'll notice Nelo Angelo is Vergil because when he saw Dante's half of the amulet in the battle against Nelo in DMC1, he starts acting insane.

The only occasions Nero is actually using Yamato is in some cutscenes and in his Showdown move, which imo is not just using force. Dante with Dark Slayer style is basicly just a copy of Vergil missing Judgement Cut which is replaced by Dimensional Slash and no upwards slash or w/e it was called (Back + Attack with yamato on DMC3)
