@Tueuzz yeah... either way we both get the meaning of the song right? I think it's just a matter of what language a person THINKS in when they are speaking or listening to anything that composes their understanding/translation of it, right?
Heard this song while watching Quentin Tarantino's: Death Proof. He uses quite an interesting selection of songs in this film. I really liked this one.
@rasicar Nope, at least I found April March thanks to a guy with a great taste in music!, thanks for comment and once again sorry for my bad english :-)
Oui et Non...elle a raison dans un sens...que je le payerai un de ces jour mais...elle n'a pas raison tout simplement parc'que je ne laisserai jamais tomber les filles...j'aime trop les filles pour faire une chose pareil!
...and there are a great many artist who have recorded "Laisse Tomber les Filles" or "Chick Habit" - so there are plenty of "editions" of the song to chose from when picking your "favorite recording." One thing is for certain however - it's a a memorable song with great hooks and once you've heard it, you want to hear it again.
i love both versions, but i like the english better. I listened to the inglish one first and im so used to it, so the french one is kind of strange. but i still love this version :D
Oh God someone please upload the " MOODY" 7inch that April sings on...instrumentation by the Bassholes. I used to own a copy, I think I bought it in 1997...it came out on Sympathy For The Record Industry. [ The b-side was " MICROSCOPE FEELING " ...MOODY is a cover and I think the b-side is an actual Bassholes song. Thanks for posting this anyway. I've always liked April March projects.
I don't really know why I posted it here. But I didn't meant to be that rude. It's just that I actually think this is a song of a very bad quality. But ok. There are pop music and people that can enjoy it. I just can't stand it, specially if you understand the lyrics. It just don't go in my point of view. But ok, I think I got irritated by the song and my post was reacting on that. Sorry if you got offended somehow. Best.
@mirosoares... oh dear.... yes.... I think I see what you mean now.... more quality....that's what we need....music shouldn't be simple, infectious and instantly gratifying....why that would be like accepting a blowjob from a beautiful stranger
@mirosoares Whether it's sexy or not is down to the individual...I think it is, and is totally in the French Ye-Ye spirit. I hardly think it's any more superficial or stupid than watching streetlights through an open then closed train door.
Literally, "laissez tomber" is "leave fall," I believe. I would interpret this as "let go." Comes to the same thing as the English/American slang "hang up."
@Freez57fr (cont'd) a seasoned school teacher admonishing a trifling young man who jumps from girl to girl without a second thought. Hope that clears things up somewhat?
@Freez57fr innocent, tu verras ce que je ressens, avant qu'il ne soit longtemps" - 'one doesn't toy with an innocent heart without consequence; you'll see what I mean before too long.' And finally "non, pour te plaindre il n'y aura personne d'autre que toi. Alors tu te rappelleras tout ce que je te dis-là" 'you won't have anyone to complain to, and you'll remember everything I've told you'. Watch the original video posted on here sung by France Gall - she plays (to be cont'd)
@Freez57fr (cont'd) and he will have deserved it - "ce jour-là, non je ne pleurerai pas. Je dirai c'est bien fait pour toi, je dirai ça t'apprendra". The song continues "La chance abandonne celui qui ne sait que laisser les coeurs blessés" - 'luck abandons he who only knows how to break hearts'. "tu n'auras personne pour te consoler, tu ne l'auras pas volé" - 'no one will console you, you won't have gotten away with it'. It continues "On ne joue pas impunément avec un coeur (to be cont'd)
yes, you're gramatically correct - the phrase is ambiguous, and can mean either 'don't bother with girls' (ie they're not worth the bother) or 'leave the girls alone' (ie keep your trifling to yourself). @51Totom,Really why? Is it something she said in French that you don't like or mistakenly said something in French?
98bigbutt 10 months ago
@98bigbutt I am french too, and I prefer the english version too.
I think it's because the lyrics suck, and because it's a cover of an old song, totally unfashionable.
But the english version is not associated with the old song, and we don't really understand the lyrics.
Moreover the english version is used in a very popular advertising in France, so we like it ! ^^
(I hope my english is not too bad)
