we're singing this in my college choir right now and even though we sound not quite there yet in rehearsal, a tear often lurks behind my eye...such a beautiful song

Why are white singers singing this ? It just does not sound thev same not taking any props from those singing it just not the same sound and emotion

It was arranged by H. T. Burleigh and it's part of "Jubilee Songs" of the United States of America. Originally, it was dedicated to the Chorus of the Schola Cantorum, New York, conducted by Kurt Schindler.
