sad to see the Ambrose and for that matter Walsh who quit in 2001 leave the game of cricket.Ambrose was my absolute favorite bowler. His name means immortal ..oh well he is mortal after all..BTW Colin Croft's review of the WI-ian team the last 10 mins was absolutely scathing According to Wisden when he bowled "he showed no remorse in causing pain to the batsmen" here he did with words and rightly so..The team has become 3rd rate..
@robelinda i agree ..I have commented the same regarding my math but i stick to my comment abt Birth Cert(BC) of Pak Players..Jeez Waqar is not yet 40 Afridi not yet 30.. :)
The slower ball from Walsh that got rid of Graham Thorpe @ 30:35 is probably the greatest, clever-est slower ball !! Incredible Walsh.......the one that comes to my mind is Harmy's ball to get rid of Clarke in Edgbaston test (2005 Ashes)
Beautiful snap at 54:57. The four English pacemen - Gough, Caddick, White and Cork - shown on the same frame. Wonderful side-on actions, expecially Gough's!
King and Rose were worthy successors for the two great men. It's too bad that they couldn't continue in the same vein. Seeing this video, I am reminded of how potent a weapon King was in the late 90s and 2000.
His 2nd innings spell of the first test really stand out here. Good rhythmic run-up, open-chested action with pace and distinct movement into the right-hander. He was a handful until his heel injury.
Good old days,man...good old days.I was 7 during this series.Remember my summer vacations were on...the afternoons used to be so lovely.I and my elder brother used to finish lunch and sit back and enjoy the cricket.Made for great viewing.......When the sessions ended,we played cricket in the backyard and we would often imitate the actions of Walsh,Gough,Amby etc.!!!!!
Aaaah, the present days suck.Someone gimme my childhood back....GOLD!!!
@Crkt4Eva Special series for me, as I'd gotten married to Belinda during the series, and I taped some of the tests while we were away on the honeymoon, was eager to see if the timering had worked back at home!! Was only the 3rd test I missed, didnt miss much, apart from Stewart's quite MAGNIFICENT ton in his 100th test .
@Crkt4Eva I also became business owner too that year, not long after we got married. Was a big year for me. Not so much a great cricket year though really, the aussies didnt play too much in 2000, we went to NZ, had the whole winter off and played WI in November, 6 or 7 months off! Actually did we go to SA in June or something for 3 odi's? Must have. The boards were trying to milk the Aus v SA rivalry that was at its peak after the 1999 WC.
@robelinda2 You know, for a 22/23 year old you weren't doing bad for yourself to have gotten married & already have your own business all at such an early age!
Great upload, massive shame that you have to listen to Croft's verbal diarrhea instead of the commentary though!

1) Venkat givng out Adrian Griffith with day light betn bat and ball.Proves what a bad umpire he was.Irritating thing was he
always acted as if he had all the bases covered in terms of judgement
2) Walsh age according to Croft was 38 i.e in 2000 , he started playing cricket from 85 .Did he start
at the age of 13 wow real prodigy i always thought Pak players have the wrong BC :)
4) Walsh slower ball along with Cairns has to rank as one of best ones.why did he retire :). gone on & on.

@ramakril sorry for my math :)

@ramakril You got your maths wrong man! If Walsh was 38 in 2000 the he wouldve been 23 in 1985.

@TheSinnical : True, that is the greatest ever slower ball. Walsh is great.

30:29 First time i've seen the original broadcast of that Walsh/Thorpe dismissal & the after celebrations, what great scenes.
The 2000 Wisden Trophy series was really what made me a Cricket fanatic, man, i wish live Channel 4 Cricket still existed!, those were the days...
