  • gosh i remember this as a kid...time has passed so quickly...i miss L A

  • R.I.P. Hal Fishman and Larry McCormick I got much respect for Keith Olberman if u don't like him it doesn't matter....

  • This is not from the 70s. Keith Olbermann was the KTLA's sports anchor in the mid 80s.

  • Keith Olbermann - What an A**HOLE!

  • Ron Boltz Rules as the Voiceover on KTLA and on KTVU.But Keith Olbermann does not fit on KTLA like Hal Fishman and Larry McCormick does. If Hal Fishman saw Keith Olbermann on his MSNBC show or the Cable Tabloids and Propaganda networks like MSNBC, Fox and HLN. He would not like what he sees.

  • @recto89 - I wouldbe VERY careful putting Fox in your group. Obviously you have not watched. When was the last time Keith Olberman or any for that matter on MSNCB gave a view of anything other than the Marxist agenda? I believe CNN is making some changes, you are beginning to see people like myself like to hear both sides of the story, the I WILL DECIDE for myself. Unlike Keith Olderman and others, who only repeat what the Marxtist media has told them.

  • Wow its hard to see what the real story is besides kneejerking

  • I stopped watching all the Cable Tabloids and Propaganda 5 years ago

  • @schs1977 - so you will decide for yourself by watching fox news ? LOL - you're a fucking joke

  • @pbrlimit Right back at you AS*HOLE!

  • Olbermann in the house!!! RIP Hal Fishman.

    L.A. stand up!!!

  • This KTLA 5 opening must have been from the mid 80 to late 80's as I remember Olberman being the sports guy I think after Stu Nahan left for a while.

  • Maybe the only station in L.A. to go w/o a weatherman. Larry McCormick would always just read it as far I remember

  • @ RetroBoyWontDie :

Just as well. Weathermen are overdramatic gaylords. There's literally no weather to lose sleepover in southern California.

Case in point: Anytime it rains, the local media treats it like the Great Flood if there's over two inches of rain, with live reporters going apeshit, wearing slickers and standing in puddles as if they're a Iraq battlezone.

  • @StriderIsAragorn

Heh. Better yet that most of them are now two-legged chests in tight sweaters. Most of the time I miss the forecast because of my transfixation on their airbags.

  • KSTW also used this music

    in the 80's as well

  • KMSP used it as well

  • Thank God the Old 1980's and 1990's KTLA logo is back

  • Keith Olbermann before he took his assholism nationwide.

  • They (and the tapes of many other LA stations) actually can be found at UCLA's Film and Television Archives.

  • It's like something out of Anchorman, amazing :D

  • Does anyone know if KTLA keeps all of it's news tapes? In 1997, the Library of Congress did a survey which showed that over 40% of TV stations erased their local newscasts within a month. If anyone doubts me, I'll send you a link to the research paper. Anyway, awesome video, JohnnyL80, you have great stuff!

  • I was wondering the same thing myself. I'm sure that they may save some of them from over the years. but that would be alot of news tape

  • I know. The survey is from 1997, but doesn't "name names" as to which local stations are preserving their tapes and which don't. It does, however, say something very positive: All NETWORK Newscasts since 1969 do survive, since NBC CBS and ABC have big enough budgets to preserve their newscasts.

  • Keith Olbermann is now a news anchor on MSNBC.
