Jennifer warnes was such a hippy chick in the late 60's wasn't she? I was only around 7, 8 years old at the time but i do remember a kinda nerdy girl with glasses on the show.
theres a place in time, of reel and ryme, a taste of wine and we'll move on. a skip, a dance, a second glance then pay the fiddler for the song. but comes a chill with the autum air that the minstrel man and the dancer share, and we cried for the lady with the golden hair, when we heard that she was gone. so long mary RIP
Donovan is one of my favorite singers, and this song is very relaxing. He is the all time greatest singer and song writer of bathroom tunes, (Intergalactic laxative, and The Pee Song.
Like BeatnickManfred, also heard only on a bootleg album from the early 1970's. It is likely that the song was never included on any albums there were multiple artists performing. I think this song was done during a musician's strike, hence the guitar performance.
Oh Jennifer Warnes! No wonder I could not find her. She did some great songs--especially the theme song for the movie Norma Rae--It goes Like It goes!!!
If I'm not wrong "To Love Me" is the correct title.
Donovan did write a song called "Lassie Lay Down", which is published on his "Love Is Only Feeling" album, but has completely different music and lyrics.

Jennifer Warnes is one of the most underrated, under appreciated in history.

Jennifer Warnes is one of the best - and least recognized - singers of my generation. Love her work always!

I love this song and it makes me wish for the times of those singers. Some great songs back then.
