  • Thank you soulmate for making this video!

  • Cyanogenmod is perfect, I got twice as much available ram than I did before, so I definitely recommend to install a custom rom

  • i have one,and i did it bcuz i like to have something different and get more form my deivice.

  • where do i get a custom rom from cant seem to find it anywhere on the web

  • @92campos989 Just google the name of your phone then custom rom. For example, "HTC Evo Custom Rom"

  • @AdamInNi thanks man

  • @92campos989 No problem :)

  • Are you the geeza from The In Betweeners?

    "I've lost my glasses"!

    :)

    watch?v=V3HzTKbsqsY

  • i do not use one because my phone isn't high-end, therefore it will take some time until there are roms available... so, stock HTC Explorer it is to me...

By the way... help? I want a good Rom =\

  • u should not install custom rom...to your android phone...cause it can damage your phone...i have experienced it..your display quality will become very poor...trust me..!!...i hate this Cyanogen..it has corrupted my phone..

  • @gauravandroid7 This is just a bad experience that you have had... You perhaps didn't install the Rom properly or perhaps it wasn't compatible with your device. It is likely your fault that It doesn't work properly on your device. I have had two android devices both running Cyanogenmod 7 along with other roms and there have been no problems at all...

  • @AdamInNi ok ,my phone is xperia x8 plz send me the link of android 2.2 Cyanogen rom...plz

  • @gauravandroid7 unfortunately there isnt 2.2 cyanogenmod for the xperia X8. there is 2.3 though. Just google "cyanogenmod xperia x8" and you should find it. I can't post links (Stupid youtube)

  • @AdamInNi ok...but u r great.....

  • Can you please do a tutorial on how to install custom rom with rom manager v4.8.0.7 i am having trouble

  • "I think they're worth talking about." *stops stream*

  • Nope. It would void my warranty...

  • Custom ROM support on Android is what's stopping me from going to any other phone. You can even create your own roms (which I do) with relative ease.

  • If you like then you shoulda put a ROM on it.

  • Liberty 3 v.2.0 on my droid X

    cm7 on my hp touchpad

& in the process of porting ics to the cheap pandigital line of tablets as i type.. along with a working updated marketplace which should be out for public release within the next week

    yes, im an android developer.

  • @ lockergnome did you try cm7 on your fire?

  • bought a china tab preloaded with cm7 on it (ebay deal). so far everything i've tried has worked. sometimes i'll drop a few frames in games but overall it's been a good experience on cheap hardware. i can't see why not to have a custom rom. the tablet is doing things that the stock software wouldn't allow it to do. sure there's the rare bub that requires a reboot but hell, i'm doing the same stuff with a 130-150 buck tablet that people buy the 400-600 tablets for.

  • I think you should after you've done your research i.e. how difficult it is to root, what rom has the features that you need as an individual, etc. I've had 2 Android phones so far and they have spent most (almost all) of their time running custom roms and I've been very happy with the performance and would never go back to using a stock rom.

  • I have CM7 on my HP Touchpad and It's great for being in it's beginning stage.

  • First video I watched on my kindle fire with CM7

  • Im an ios guy huy now but used to be an andrroid guy & had a lot of toms

    Sometimes a new one daily.

Some people like tinkering- i think now with ios i send more time "doing stuff" & less time tinkering

I used to easte hrs fiddling with ROMS

  • Its already broken my phone twice but I'm still going to do it again :]

  • Can somebody please make a custom ROM for Galaxy S Plus?? :/

  • @nazlim09 it takes more than asking to make a custom rom for you to get one.. try an average of 2 months just to get something stable enough to properly boot..

  • I like to customize everything to my house, car, clothes, phone etc. It's just the way I am my personality I guess

  • that's deal, i know that lot's of fandroids will say : FUCK YOU, but when you fans try hundreds of ROM's, iOS users, with simplicity, just upgrade once and all set. And, if you say that iTunes sux, it's better do a IQ test.

  • @pnetwork12 You're grammar is terrible.

  • @pnetwork12 i'm not knocking ios. i haven't played with it enough to really form an opinion with any reasoning behind it. cm7 seems to be a very good custom rom to me and i have no desire to change a thing. i would like to address the itunes comment. i won't have it on my machine because i dislike having to have other things than it running for it to work. i haven't played with it in awhile and it might have changed. seems to me they should address that for windows users. do i need an iq test?

  • @pnetwork12 you do realize on android you don't have to try hundreds of roms right?? it's an option that voids your warranty in the first place & most people do it to have a phone with even more options & customization than you ios nut huggers, (which we already had in the first place).. simplicity, already got it, installing roms takes real knowledge & is for the best of the best.. maybe you should do some more research & jump off that apple tree of yours & take an iq test yourself mr grammar!

  • @canthony1019 wow friend, sorry for offending google and it's costumers.

And about my grammar, I think that this is just a way for fanboys to get out from a discussion about O.S.

Now, go there and cry about Samsung taking 1-year-old devices out of ICS update.

  • @pnetwork12 no your grammar just sucks & it's not about getting out of the conversation, reason why i brought it up last.. idiot. & taking 1 yr. old devices out of the update? lol, do some more research kid, 1st of all samsung has VERY limited control on which devices get the update, google controls 100% of "google certified" devices which will get the updates. it's only up to manufactures to push out system firmware to match its compatibility.. ad if you're so right about them holding on 1yr

  • @pnetwork12 old devices then explain why the 1.5 yr old samsung illusion has a confirmed ics update coming for it according to both google & samsung. funny thing is you chose samsung because of the release of the new nexus series phone being google's phone of choise to be the commercial phone for android 4.0 "ics" software but good try though...how about you do some research before you make yourself look like an even bigger idiot.

  • @canthony1019 endend this by your comment, because man, it was like, two days ago that Samsung was deciding if SG and Galaxy Tab were going to get updated to ICS, and then, BOOM, the news that they're not going to.

So, if you're happy in buying each year a phone to get it updated, Samsung is happy as hell with this.

  • @pnetwork12 & where did you get this info? i'd really like to know, because according to the Samsung dev. page the galaxy s tab will be the very next device to get the ics update & no changes have been made.. so quit pulling garbage out of your ass (typical apple fanboy).. & fyi, i check every day as I am a developer myself.. & if you really wanna go this route on upgrading have fun upgrading to a new ios device when they only add one "MAJOR" change as they quote every time a new device is

  • @pnetwork12 released at the ces conference... i.e. upgrading to an iphone 3gS because they added video recording & compass.... upgrading to an iphone 4 since it's faster & has a retina display... how about this one! upgrading from an iphone 4 to a 4s because they added siri (which only uses apple servers) & is possible on ANY device but only built into the iphone 4 iOS5 software btw.. so I'm pretty sure apple is happy munching money off of you & all the other morons out there ;)

  • i had a desire untill 2 days ago, ive tried ALL the roms i think and probebly my top were oxygen and tobaco silky.

    now i have a SGS2 :D with infected V4, (4.7k quadrant no OC)

  • I cant root my inspire bc i dont have internet shoot

  • @gothicasshole u can use your computers internet -__- and u dont need it actiully.

  • @julyderek there server racks the light changes when data useage opens

  • Running cyanogenmod 7 on my Desire, Have tried lot's of different ROMs but it's been the most stable.

  • Running 4.03 on my vibrant!

  • Im scared I might mess up my LG gt540

  • Dude, why do you have those flashing lights in the background?

  • @julyderek1 Those are TIX clocks go(.)tagjag(.)com/tix

  • cyanogenmod crashes a lot so i dont like it :(

  • OMG @lockergnome you gotta see a doc quiet soon ..looks like you got stroke!

  • HTC desire... old school and still going strong !

  • Android Revolution HD 5.0 (ICS Base) on the HTC Sensation 4g. Its fastttttttt!!!!!

  • running cm7 on HP Touchpad =]! love it! brang life to this inexpensive tablet. couldn't be any happier

  • Running cm7 on my HTC evo 4g. I use it for the hotspot and overclocking and underclocking

  • What time does he usually record these live central standard timezone

  • @lilSchoen go to his channel the featured video and click the annotation saying next live episode

  • In order for you to be able to replace the stock recovery, and flash the custom firmware (unsigned package of the ROM in a .zip). Therefore to even be able to "root" the device, you need to be able to hack the bootloader, and replace recovery. Very similar as how redsn0w & PwnageTool hack the filesystem, and find exploits at the lower levels of the hardware. There is a very good hack that people use in the old iPhone 3GS bootloaders that is a great example of this.

  • Actually Chris, You would be surprised that Jailbreaking and installing a custom ROM might not be as far off as you think. A person jailbreaks their device to open it up and take control of their phone (Gaining root access and permissions to do whatever they want with their phone, installing Cydia, packages, etc etc), In Android you would "Root" the device to do this. But for some Android phones you can't install Custom ROMs so easily. So you need to hack them and unlock their bootloaders ->

  • running cyanogenmod 7 on my optimus v BACKside IHO

  • Custom roms are pretty cool, my buddy uses them. I have an iPhone 4 but am very much on the fence now and may grab the Galaxy Nexus phone. As much as I like the apps written for iOS, I'm really growing tired of closed ecosystems and willing to make some sacrifices.

  • No roms for me :( I did an OTA update, and it made my Hboot go from 0.98 to 2.00 :( cant S-off my Desire S now, unless i downgrade the hboot (HASSLE) Or i just wait for RevX to update their software...

  • MIUI!

  • Can I suggest a video editor to eliminate awkward mess ups during the recording process? ;-)

  • lite'ning custom rom works nice on my Samsung gs2

  • ICS Passion v8, on the vibrant

  • Im not currently using any roms but I do have a rooted andriod device running froyo but im getting ready to upgrade it gingerbread with cm7

  • Got that right I create them Al the time

  • Android Revolution HD for Galaxy Nexus

  • 4:25

George: "Whoa, back it up, back it up.. *beep beep beep* Tractor story?"

Jerry: "... *beep beep beep*? What are you doing?"

  • i do use cm7 on my htc aria, some of my friends with the (then new) thunderbolt or new razor decided against due to warranty (an they kept breaking... haha verizon LTE! down again?)

  • Can someone guide me into the right direction with this. I want to root my HTC Desire, and overclock it, if possible. Thanks!

  • Im watching this on cm7 because its faster and has more functions

  • lol press 7.!

  • I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 on my Desire HD from AT&T (technically the Inspire 4G) and I love it. couldn't be happier. the only thing I don't like about it is that it does not come bundled with a mail client other than the Gmail client.

  • @eliteninja02 exactly the same.

  • imnot currently running a custom rom on my transformer, but my dell streak 5 has lived through them all,and then got updated to official gingerbread. i used the official because all the custom ones are terrible with hw acceleration.

  • im not currently running a custom rom on my trasformer, but my dell streak 5 was. i used all of them, and lobe

  • What parts of Android are actually open source? I don't hear about the FSF humping any of those custom roms.

  • I enjoy rooted Atrix with Alien ROM.

  • Im viewing this on my rooted nook tablet ;)

  • I do have CyanogenMod 7.1 for my HTC Desire CDMA from US Cellular. The reason for that is because I wanted greater control over my device and didn't really like the HTC Sense UI on the device. Also, stock I would have been stuck with Froyo and with CyanogenMod I am on Gingerbread.

  • I don't and I won't install a custom ROM on my phone only because it voids warranty which is essential for me since I might break my phone and wont have the funds to replace it, Maybe though if I got a second one to do this kinda stuff on.

  • @cyborgste its simple and you can unroot it with one click. Inspire 4G with custom 3.5 Gingerbread installed.

  • @thatstek how did u get it? I have the same phone but no roms work on it

  • i have an HTC EVO 4G and yes im rooted and running cyanogen mod 7, so glad i did it and dont regret it at all their are so many good outcomes to doing it.

  • Running Caulks on Epic Touch, about to dump it for something else due to GPS problems though.

  • Yes I am running Darky's Rom 10.3 on my Galaxy S T959D (Telus's Galaxy S)

  • I used CM7 on my Inspire when I owned an Android phone, so yes I think you should install a custom ROM.

  • i haven't installed cm7 on my droid x as of yet..

currently im just running stock 2.2.1 rooted with wifi tether...

that's all i need for what i do

  • hey Chris you know whats weird everytime I watch a video on youtube a galaxy nexus cell phone advertisement started. I watched the ad so many times i actually had a dream about it! Now i want one lol. You should make a video on this type of stuff it would be interesting......

  • no, they're not. They're just trying to fix an OS unfixable, sorry droidfags :(

  • @pnetwork12 You mean, "they're just trying to fix an OS that cannot be fixed." Proper grammar makes insults much more effective sir.

  • @pnetwork12 thats not whats happening smart one pull your head out of your ass and look beyond the apple fanboy's eyes.......

  • Im running a custom rom on my device :)

  • indeed....
