We enjoyed reading all these to our kids, including a Frances. We made up our own tunes for the songs. Once a substitute pediatrician asked us, after we introduced Frances to him: "Frances? Like the badger?"

It's a shame. If they really wanted to make an animated version, they should've made it in the same drawing style as the books. And of course it should be 2D not this terrible 3D.

@Globez123 Yeah, I grew up with the books and even though this is adorable, I was disapointed when they did it in 3D and modernized it.

@Globez123 - totally agree. They ruined the look of Frances with this plastic looking , robotic  CG animation. The charm of the original Lillian Hoban illustrations should have been animated with hand drawn animation.

Something bothered me about the way Frances moves. I think I figured it out. She moves like a dwarf, not a child. I wonder if perhaps they used motion capture using a dwarf model.

I don't mean to sound critical or anything, but I never really thought 3D was the best option for animating a children's book series in which the illustrations were, well... quite different.

I think I'll stick to the books, thanks
