He was a great pick 1996 NCAA player of the year 6'11" Great rebounder, one of the best shot blockers ever, and can score and run the floor. They expected big things out of him. He still had a pretty good career and was always one of the top defensive players each year.
Camby is one of those players who plays hard no matter what and his game will keep him in the league for the next few years. I wish the Raptors would pick him back up next season. Great blocker and rebounder and can still get it done offensively against lesser 5s.
absolutely love marcus camby- hed be a great pickup for a contender before the trade deadline. hes an elite rebounder and shot blocker despite his age
no 84 is better followed by 96 and 03 and here is why you have 4 hall of famers comming out of the 84draft olajowon, jordan, barkley, stockton 96 has 4 as well kobe, iverson ray allen and peja
there are more intensity in NBA since the jordan era started and I agree on some of the bloggers mentioned that those years have passed had a better competition in drafting college players rookies and rising stars to MVPs and to the legends
@ShootAAppleOffMyHead 96>84&03 because 96 will probaly also have the same numbers of HOF (Nash, Iverson, Ray Allen, and KObe Bryant) as 84. But 96 has 10 All-Stars and Camby a DPOY and 84 only has 7.
Also 84 draft is filled with busts like Sam bowie, and Melvin Turpin
Out of the 3 1996 is the only in which the 2nd overall pick isn't a bust.
great to have him in portland. he's starting to show his age though... got some bad ankles.

imagine if the injuries didnt pile up for this guy hes career would have been legendary but he is still a great player.

MC is a good player. Not number 2 tho. But if they needed a big man thats a good pick.
AllEyesOnMe08 1 year ago
Camby had more than a 'decent' career, he's had a very good career. He won a DPOY and is a career 12 rpg 3 bpg
armstrong2mcgrady2k1 1 year ago
@1:40 still one of the greatest play I've ever seen. Taps the ball out of #25 hands off the backboard for a put back dunk.

nash will be a HOF.. he's a 2 time MVP.. i think the only MVP not in the HOF is Bernard King (which is a travesty in itself).

96 is the best ever.....
only 1 mvp in 2003 so you cant call it a greate draft...

no offense

Y'all lunchin, UMass was crazy that year. Camby, with Padilla and Travieso. That big 3 was unstoppable in the A-10.

i remember in an interview with the clippers who had the #7 pick, they said we were 100% sure wed get camby.....then he got taken at 2!

Marcus Camby is just underrated.
Hes one of the best defenders and rebounders.
2007 Defensive Player of the Year.
He should be an all-star in the future.
