My grandma actually SAW Marilyn Monroe while "River of No Return" was being filmed. Miss Monroe was waiting at the bottom of one of the falls, and her stunt double was going off of it. HOW COOL IS THAT???!!! My grandma's name is Marilyn, too....

I just got married there on Saturday and it was amazing! We stayed in the Walter J Philips suite on the gold floor and it was worth every penny and more. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The building is owned by Oxford property management but the Fairmont company name is owned by an Arab Sheik.

that mountainlover55 guy aint lying. Stayed in that hotel 2 years on the trot and the top floor. (9th i think) Has spectacular views but has a eary atmosphere to it. The cofin shaped doors dont exactly help either. The nicest hotel ever. Especially at christmas time.

hi...I am going there (from Australia) next June (08). Can you tell me something about the hotel's smoking rules etc? I hope to be a non-smoker by then, but if I'm not...?lol

You are allowed to smoke in your room. But when your down in the restraunts the are smoking and non smoking areas. If you want to have a good time, walk down to the town (only a 20 minute walk) and there are some really nice pubs and restraunts. Hope this helped.
