were these guns ever available in 4.75 barrel length stainless? I have not been able to locate a picture of one in that length. I like the look of the barrel being same length as the ejector.
Great shootin. Just a quick tip for keepin the gun in a good condition as far as internals, pull the hammer all the way to the rear after loading and unloading on half cock it is easier on the mechanism.
@tbud417 Does that apply to a firing pin system that has a transfer bar and in-frame pin? Also, I have read where the clicks of the Taurus are designed to mimic the original SAA. Does what you say apply to both the replica and the original SAA?
@LowKeyLanding It is really not a big deal and I was taught that for an original SAA but I apply it to all of my single actions, It may not apply to newer replicas, and if the Taurus is a 4 click system then yes it does replicate the Colt. The biggest thing that will affect the hammer and firing pin is dry firing even with the transfer bar or an exposed pin.
when shooting the gun you just get a far better rush than a standerd hand pistols then when reloading the diffrence between changeing or reloading a clip is just amazing
Mighty fine shooting. I have a 5.5" stainless Gaucho in 45 Colt. At 15 yards it'll make one ragged hole if I shoot off a rest. I did have to tweak my sights a bit to get it to not shoot left but now it's right on.
One comment, I notice you lower the hammer down from half cock without going to full cock first. Are you getting a turn ring on your cylinder from doing that?
@motrekrap No turn ring so far. I'll consider what you said. I did some things in making this video that you would not normally do when shooting. I had to put the pistol down several times and tend to the camera. Later I edited it to get this video.
Nice shooting. Any idea as to why it was discontinued? I picked up a Ruger Vaquero this last weekend and am itching to shoot it. But I think the Gaucho is the closest to the Colt SAA of the Old West, because it come complete with the clicking sound when cocked.
@sabretooth75 I don't know why they discontinued it. I've heard different stories about quality control, but there's a lot of hearsay also. Mine is a good one. That's all I can say. I have an original Colt in 38-40, and the clicks are identical. I would like to have a 44-40 replica.
@supernightmaren2 Yes - that's the way it works. Remember that this was a step beyond the cap and ball revolver where each chamber had to be loaded with powder and ball. The Colt single action was a tremendous step in evolution of firearms, and is still a favorite and is probably the strongest type of frame. It is a very safe action (with transfer bar) because it requires deliberate cocking to fire. The design dates back to 1873.
@LowKeyLanding haha yeah, i mean i know at the time it was revolutionary, but the reloading caught my eye because that seems like something simple enough that they could have skipped two steps ahead on and made it eject the whole cylinder at once. i never even considered having to eject one-by-one on top of reloading one-by-one, but i guess you learn something new every day. thanks!
Love the SAA's. Have you shot any black powder through it yet? I reload Goex 3F powder, 250g Lead cast bullet with some mag primers. Im hooked on reloading black powder for my SAA's. Don't forget the great smell, and cloud that comes along with it!
I agree and I have nothing but praise for the Gaucho. It is the first Taurus product I owned, and I was not very familiar with Taurus before owning it. I now have several Taurus products. I saw it in a pawn shop and was attracted by the looks of it and when I examined it, I found it to be as tight and well fitted as any revolver Ive seen, which was proven out at the range.
One of the best gun videos I ever saw. Showing the gun, as it can speak for itself. You show, loading, reloading, function, and great marksmanship. Great video. 5/5.
dude i love taurus, i even got a pt 92, but this bastard named gladiator123 keeps talking mess on how these guns suck, would anyone else recomend a taurus????
If you have a PT92, the you know how good of a gun it is. Why bother with other opinions? If you are interested in a Gaucho, go to the Gunblast website, which has a very thorough review.
My dad has the same exact model. He prefers it to the REAL berretta he used in the army for 20+ years. Had one issue when he got it send it in and once we got it back it's been %100. He can hit real good with it too.
Artillery just means it has a 5" barrel. It's the standard version, but depending on the size of the shooter's hands it could be a Quick Draw version with a 4" barrel.
I see. Thanks for the explanation. I was not aware of the term. Mine is a 5-1/2". They make a 4-3/4" and a 7-1/2" I think the 5-1/2" has the most eye appeal.
I looked at your Uberti video and it was all still pictures. Not very convincing. I wonder, will it shoot and can you hit anything with it? I dont mean to bad mouth Uberti. Im sure its a good gun. But, I wouldnt trade my Gaucho for it.
i havent made an actualy video review and if your a taurus man thats fine i just heard a lot of reviews that the gauchos are bad but as long as it works and is accurate then its fine ,if you live near vermont we can have a shooting contest to see!!

I paid $300 out the door at a pawn shop for a used one in like new condition. Not a great deal, but it saved a few bucks. I've since seen it in 357 and 5-1/2" and 7-1/2" for $325 new. I wanted 45 Colt.

I apologize for not commenting. I can't seem to get utube to post my comments. You are right, this is a sweet gun. It feels just right. I have almost bought a 357 myself. The 45 has consistent accuracy, but I have not grouped it. See the Gunblast review on it for grouping. Shooting metal plates is fun because it clanks and falls over.
